  • also known as a mountaineer sweep, you can get this sweep holding the sleeve of the gi with a cross grip and pulling then when your oppnent pulls back sit up hip bumb, when your oppent goes to post pull the arm.

  • @scarface7117

If your opponent is using his hands to keep you down it is probably a better opportunity to break posture rather than attempt the hip sweep :-) its just a matter of the right move at the right moment

  • Used this in a wrestling match. Worked fairly well only because my opponent didn't see it coming.

  • Also, something I saw Ari, shouldn't your left leg be lowered a little? I know there's countless variations of everything in Jits, but it seems more effective when I use the other leg as sort of a trip, rather than hugging the hip with it.

  • @rednek316 Exactly what I was about to say. When that left leg is touching the ground the sweep becomes 100 times easier. You can use that leg to pull his in, almost like a scissors sweep. It just adds much more leverage, which you'll need if your partner has a good base.

  • i agree with Messy. If they're preventing you from completing the sweep then they are feeding you an arm

  • doesnt that blonde guy have a black belt in BJJ, im pretty sure his early videos will prove this..so whats with the purple belt?

  • @crazyjake29 Black belt in JJJ and aikido and purple belt in BJJ and 10th Planet JJ

  • @Submissions101 oh rite, oki doki

  • @crazyjake29 with the knowledge he concieves, he wears what he wants lol

  • What scarface7117 said!?!?

  • haha... the smoking gun finger. What a dick.

  • @aaronshim lol,, i couldn't believe i got shot with that finger,,,lol, what's the sweep for that?

  • the smoking gun thing made me pee my pants!

  • tanks man. you teach Cool things

  • Back to basics, I like it! I use this one all the time. It's basic, it's effective, and it's high percentage. I've pulled this off in pro MMA, I use it all the time while rolling and sparring, and it's one of the fundamentals I have my students drill often. And even if your opponent is defending, it sets up a lot of submission and other transitions.

  • Thanks for sharing this sweep for the less fortunate like me :)

  • How long have you been a purple belt?

  • Another fine demo guys!

  • it helps to put your left leg on the ground and trap his right leg so he can't base out with his leg too

    but very informative as always!

  • I got my elbow dislocated defending this. Bad memories :( Its been 5 months and I still cant lift heavy weights.

  • great sweep. my favorite from the guard. if you cant hit the sweep you can get the kimura most of the time.

  • finger guns... really

  • could you do something like this if they have mount?

  • @mmajunkie16 nope

  • shouldnt ashton kutcher be on the set of 2 n a half men?

  • @that1grappler lmao!

  • @that1grappler at first i was like where did that come from. and then i realized his twin was on the screen. haha

  • My favorite sweep from the guard!

  • @Submissions101

hey ari, how would you posture up completely to get the sweep if your opponent is postured up and is pushing you down with both his arms? i tried this while rolling, and i couldn't get my up to my opponent since he had both arms pushing against my hip and chest. i'm sure theres a way to do it though, and i'd be thankful if you could tell me.

    cheers.

  • @scarface7117 sounds like a easy armbar to me

  • @scarface7117 if the guy is well postured and controlling ur hips then no sweep would work break his posture first trick him into what ever sweep u want to try

  • @scarface7117 if they are extending their arms and they are postured up, I wouldnt go for a sweep I would go for an arm bar from guard. No move is a sure fire way to do something, you have to adapt it for each and every circumstance.

  • @scarface7117 Just do one of the countless sweeps vs a postured up opponent. Jiu Jitsu is like chess, theres alot of "right" moves depending on ur style.

  • @scarface7117 What I would do is wave his arms off so he can't post, and bring his posture down by pulling him in with your knees. When he postures back up, a majority of the time you can attempt the hip bump. There's no saying he'll posture back up though, so try looking for a flower afterward. Frankly if he's in your guard, it's a winning spot for you; he can't do anything but pass and you have a full arsenal of sweeps and submissions to your advantage.

  • @scarface7117 Go train with someone who is a BB in BJJ - don't watch ari's stuff.

  • SOCCER KICK!

  • @jiujitsuvidz The Axe Murderer would be proud.

  • Awesome Vid GUYS!!!!!
