Looks nice and definitly wouldn't be able to do it. The only thing I would say is that it's a little off range since the effect is supposed to take place over the runaway and not over the grass as it does :)

I'll start studying After-effect soon... I've never tried it yet.

yea this effect was made the wrong way what i did was create a composition of the exact footage then create a msk and only show the area for the effect but it wont work well like this i have recently found a way to do and make it look much more realistic and make it look like it is real i am currently working on perfecting it.

yeah i have seen it flyhalf used sony vegas though and i used after effect i am still working on my effect to make it more like a heat shimmer

You want "Waves" over "Gaussian" for the best heat blur.

Not so bad, you should only use the heat blur on a departure run though.
