  • Aka alpha rex

  • cant you put the brick in the middle

  • LAME!!!

  • almost genius like idea to adjust the weight with the brick! respect mate!

  • liberty prime IS ON LINE

  • can it turn

  • It's a little pair of walking legs. ☺

  • good use of the controller as ballast... thumbs up :-)

  • I can walk faster... FAIL!

  • lol this reminds me of thoughs big robots you get in star wars lol.

  • The CPU should move while the legs are moving.

  • nice design idea

  • Man, you just solved pretty much all my design flaws for designing my C&C 3 Titan NXT model.

    Thank you, and kudos.

  • Awesome! I love how it shifts the weight to keep the robot balanced! Sweet

  • Le fonctionnement est bien mais pas assez rapide.

  • good use of momentum... nice!

  • cool but its very slow

  • lol add a drone to the top and its once of those walker droids :P

  • Put a lego guy on there and it will be 100% win

    right now it's 99.99% win

  • Excellent.

  • man, ur farther in to the future of robot technology then the guys in japan. not a joke!

  • Not to put this down, but robotics has advanced to the point of life-like android robots, made not only by "those people in Japan," but scientists all over the world.

  • yes, but the scientists behind Asimo are the most advanced cybernetic engineers that try to make bipedal robots.

  • you should do a cockpit where lego guys fit

  • That was a pretty good design. It was a good idea to incorporate the balance shifting.

  • Moving the controller was a good idea, it looks like an AT-ST walker

  • its good, but why does the NXT Console move?

  • it moves to shift the wieght.....

  • I give this robot a 7.5/10

  • cool sliding method 10/10

  • I like this!! xD

  • Wow, never thought of that. My first weight distribution method was just having it slide up and down and weights on both legs, didn't work too well.

  • Not hugely versed in the NXT, but if they still have the touch sensors, you could use those to trigger the part of the program that makes it take a step. When the NXT computer brick hits a sensor, it switches over. Rather than torquing your motors like that which I would assume would eventually destroy the inner gearboxes. I like the setup you use, I just think it could be made a little more complex, and durable with sensor use.

  • a ingeneous desighn 10/10

  • it slow, noisy and badass

  • u should give it a torso to like a mecha from games

  • that's badass!!

  • The next thing you should probably work on is giving this thing bendable joints. It's best if the weight stays centered. I know the weight was shifted to make the legs lift slightly, but you could make pivoting knee joints for this thing that would eliminate the danger of this thing toppling. Especially on an incline.

  • Wow, someone comment which actually helps! Good job! +1

  • wow, did you also built the washing machine running in the background?? =)

  • nice, I see you used the weight

  • nice job!

  • there should be a tiny chewbacca driving it.

  • lol

  • Good work

  • That is an ingenious design, great idea for the weight shifting!

  • "Present your pass!

You have 20 seconds to comply.

Please, be advised, that if you do not satisfy the abovementioned requirements, you will be terminated. Thank you for using OCP products and have a wonderful day."

  • Great work !!! 5/5

  • lolololololololololl

  • Very clever. Well done. Now get it to run ;)

  • hahahahahahaha

  • The weight transfer is genius. Great work.

  • well it will take along time tobring your drink back, but at lest you want have to get up

  • This is a brilliantly simple way to make it walk. I don't know why some people are being snobby about it. very good job!

  • Yeah, weight shift, that's what it's all about.

  • wow, way more advanced than anything i ever made.

  • wow that was neat.

  • whow!!! cool idea!!!!

  • i have no ideas for my nxt

  • great work

  • You can do so much more with lego...

My basic robot does exactly this, and it uses only a few HC72620 neurons.

You should not simply make it weight shift - this is too basic for lego.

Humans walk by flexing the ankle, propelling in a diagonally forward direction. This would be very simple with lego!!!

Don't limit yourself to the most elementary concepts!!!

  • sweet, mind making a lld file

  • So what else can this thing do apart from walking?

  • WOW nice job! (:

  • Even my teacher in robotics cannot match that

  • its an extremely good walker but, your right it does walk a bit slow.

    still, five stars!

  • Weight shifting, thats one really good idea. Kudos to you!

  • nice,but kinda slow.

and I agree, nice idea weight shifting

but,if you added more power 2 the overal thing,it will b faster.

  • Nicely done! How many servos do you think it would take to power more movement in the legs?

  • This is EXACTLY the idea I had in mind, but much faster. Great work :).

    - Mike

  • very clever balance system you worked out. I really wanna get these lego robot systems!!! if i had one i would totally go back into lego again ^_^

  • nice counter balence sytum

  • i agree, its clever.

  • have you ever noticed how bad the traction is on the alpha rex's feet? i'm thinking about puttina bunch of the rubber things on it, or maybe booties, lol

  • can it turn?

  • drunk robot

  • Have you ever used those K'nex models of Mechwarriors? It's very easy to copy the motive scheme and replicate it against the Mindstorms actuators. Also, if you purchase a second terminal you can create upper-body actions with basic weapons. Try it out.

  • That is awesome!

  • For the robot. Instead of having a weight go back and forth. can you put a wheel on the top with a weight on the end? it would make it less choppy and walk smoother.

  • Not really. You need the NXT brick on there anyway, so another weight would just make it too heavy. Thanks for the suggestion though, the comments are much appreciated.

  • impressive

  • when it was walking i could here a little song in my head *dun dun dun dun dun dun dun*

  • COOL!! it takes large steps aswell this is great mine only takes small steps and walks slow 2 crappy but yours is cool:D

  • Dude ur very smart man

Congrats on ur Robot ive modified the AI of my Scorpion NXt lol it attacks anything that comes near my door lol and i bot a meatl ball bearing on the end of its stinger so it can defend itself from being turned off lol

  • great concept, very clever indeed!

  • nice one. if you pivot the small computer on its center and place weights on both sides it may walk fast

  • nice work, a little slow

  • YES! A walking mech lego robot :D Nice done!

  • That's a smart idea, making the robot shift it's weight. Nice robot.

  • I have to admit that your's is much better looking than mine. Great JOB!!!

  • Absolutely awesome! How long did this take to make?

  • Took me about two days to build and tweak this walker. Have just spent about a week on a new design biped which I simply cannot get to work right - at the stage of ripping it to bits in frustration!

  • Robotics provide an amazing physical demonstration of ingenuity in finding different solutions to a common problem. Very well done.

  • aunque no me entendais queiro decir q esta muy bien pues el sistama de contrapeso es una brillante idea

  • it's really nice! the shifting of the lego board is really impressive! good work!

  • greate

  • Wow, you've almost developed dynamic gait!!! Nice Work!

  • Nice weight-shifting technique! Quite original :)

  • a failure. a total failure. its lack of anti jedi weaponary makes it a failure on the battlefield.

lord vader will not be pleased.

  • nice way of COG shifting, NXC haver!!! lol

  • Best and fastest Lego bipedal walker I've seen!

  • Wow! that´s great!!

    Very original.

  • That is really awesome man !!

    It's a really original robot ...

  • thats 1000 better than alpha rex

  • Can it steer?

  • can u make it star wars style and like gun if you can?

  • This works better than Alpha Rex, the android which is aillstrated in the step-by-step book of the NXT set. Cus it moves much further. But just tt it has no head n hands :D

  • muy bueno, felicitaciones

  • wow, that was really smart, having the robot shift its weight like that. never thought that a walking lego bot could work so well. good job

  • great work. most peaople forget to shif the weight or it will fall over. i made a biped once and i dident shift the weight a it fell of the table and exploded in to a thousand parts

  • Heh heh. Had that happen to me with my bridge-laying bot. First test it fell through the bridge and shattered all over the kitchen floor!

  • Thank you. Glad you liked it!

  • thats the best biped i've seen
