Rain-X Defogger Liquid is used on glass to stop fogging. the water just runs off and keeps glass clear. might be worth checking it out ? i used some of another brand on my dads old sports car and even in the winter the glass stayed clear without a heater, amazing stuff.
being that i come from a very humid area myself i can attest that a dehumidafire is a lot more effective then an ac. its not so much that he has an ac that gets me its that he brings it up yeah its just for a brief sec but hes a partner so he is making money off these videos about being green so if your going to make money about being green then put off an image that your actually being green use a hand saw here and there you know what i mean
I love the centenary definition. there is an even easier way to get a perfect paraboloid with out using all of the quadratic formulas and all that technical data. You were close with the chain and nails. 1. Put 2 nails in a board at a reasonable length. 2. cut a string more than twice the distance of the screws. tie the ends together. place it around the screws and place a pencil inside the loop. then move the pencil in a circular motion with the string as a guide. MUDDY
Also, a paraboloid is not a parabola. I feel like we're arguing different things. :< But basically a parabola is only a section of an ellipse if the foci are infinitely separated. There is an elliptical paraboloid which is a quadratic surface and looks like a cup.
Thanks for the comment. I have went back and restudied this and found that if you make one of the foci at infinity the minor end of the elipse is parablic..
Otherwise if the the 2 points are close it is just an elipse with two ends that are close to a parabolic curve. MUDDy
Hello, i'm watching Your videos and i found them very, very usefull. Sometimes You're showing what You're doing in great details. You should consider posting videos in HD. You're doing great job. Carry on.
6:57: Technically speaking, the cables in suspension bridges are actually parabolic. By themselves, the cables would form catenaries. But the much greater weight of the "road" part of the bridge pulls the cable into a true parabolic shape.
There is a fiberglass giant dish sitting unused next door, think I'll talk to my neighbor about it. It was of all things last used as a giant planter! It must be eight feet across.
I think it could use a sanding, other than that I wish the frame and tracking motors were still around but there long gone.
I live for your bloopers dan! LOL! They are the best. We have all been there at one time or another but most of us look around to make sure no one seen us mess up.....LOL. You on the other hand keep on recording and then broadcast them...LOL! I love it! 5 stars!

Can't you also use a compass to draw the parabolic shape? It would also allow you to predetermine your focal length.

Change the distance between the screws to change the focal point. the paraboloid is at the ends of the oval shape.

That's for an elliptical shape, which is closed. A parabolic should be open I believe.
Mhyque 2 years ago
Cut an ellipsis in half and you get 2 parabolas.
catprog 2 years ago
That is only true if the distance between the focii is infinity and you would be able to cut it anywhere. But in practical terms it is impossible.

THE ENDS OF THE ELIPTICAL SHAPE ARE PERFECT PARABOLOIDS.

No. An ellipse is not two parabolas stuck together.

Im not perfect but I will double check this and get back to you. Thanks for keeping me on my toes. I always thank those that correct me.

OOOOOPS Im back and thanks for the comment to keep me on my toes. the ends of the elipse are just close.
It takes an infinite distance of one screw to make the difference. elipses are just close.

Thank you Tho x, so nice to hear from you:-) Very good point about the weight of the roads.
Also, the tailgate bike on your channel is awesome!
Thanks again.
