When I first heard this, I thought "This will be decent". When Halford started singing, I fell out of my chair in shock that his voice is still that good.
The Grove shows were some of the best metal shows I've seen in 30 years.
I thought it was funny how Rob would routinely turn his back to the audience while doing "Halford" songs then, for the 'second act', turn around to ask what the crowd really wanted to hear. Awesome.
Incredible performance, this whole concert, same with Live insurrection. Rob was on his shit hitt'n it home throughout entire concert. Check out my own performance of painkiller at my channel and feel free to comment. Killer Video! Thanks for posting. ;)
he needs to sing like this everytime he sings this song man! Damn i used to think he couldnt sing this live but here it is im impressed! DO THIS GOOD ALL THE TIME ROB!
Good thing he changed guitarists... The fat one was so horrible at solos and the other guy just looked stupid and retarded in his pretentiuous and childish devil horns...
Halford was never singed painkiller so good... this was answer for live london 2002 by ripper owens, like halford says "I'm still metal god"... and he is. very high notes, very good final scream, and really its young person in 60 y.o. body!!! long live Metal God!
@DarkExecutor the solos werent too bad, but the part when he is like playing "fast" if you know what i mean he fucks it up. rob was incredible here :O
@xxJirenzaRxx This is from 2002-2003 cause you can see the crucible cover on the drums and impossible to be 2010 cause it's not the same voice from rob and not the same setlist at all ;) You can also check and see that 2002 tour usually start with Painkiller :)
I wonder any studio dubbing has been made here for the vocal parts, as halford never sounded this good in singing this song live in recent years. And playing of instruments are also sounding too perfect.
Halford is my all time fav singer, one and only one, and thus I wanted to confirm that this is actual live singing. Any guy that attended this show please tell me if he sounded this good in that show singing painkiller.
His voice is recovering...I saw him in Munich this tour and he sounded much better than in all the years before.Painkiller is still very hard for him, but he sung Victim Of Changes very good.I wonder why they put Painkiller at the end of the set, I mean, he's tired from all the songs before, it's no wonder he can't sing it that good.
When I first heard this, I thought "This will be decent". When Halford started singing, I fell out of my chair in shock that his voice is still that good.

The guitar solos are fucked up beyond recognition. Halford's singing is quite good, but he uses different technique as opposed to the studio version.

Oh come on guys stop dogging the guitar player. He's OBVIOUSLY no Tipton, but he did a pretty good job, considering how hard this solo is.
purpledino167 4 months ago
@purpledino167 True. Because Tipton's solos are classically influenced. They are also near impossible to accurately tab.
