He capoed up buecause on that mation which I think is an EBG808, or it might be the signature one but, I've known Tommy for 7+years now and have actually played that guitar. It sounds good, but there is a certain tone timbre associated with the 4th fret. It just sounds sweet. It might have to do with the fact he tunes to A 442 instead of A 440. makes it a bit brighter. Hope this helps.
When you normally tune the A string for a standard tuning it is usually an A note at 440hz or its frequency value is 440cycles. If you change that to 442Hz or cycles it sharpens the pitch thus making it a bit of an A# but its more like a semitone. for all practical values it is still an A it is just brighter than a normal 440herz A note. Hope this helps. :)
@gtownbrian Actually that's a custom Jumbo Maton with an AP5 pickup in it, unlike the EBG808TE which has the APMic. That jumbo in the vid is actually made of mahogany. Very nice sounding, would like one myself.
How the hell does he throw in that arpeggio at 1:20!!!! :P
Great as always

Wonder why he capoed up so high on this version? Sounds like Tall Fiddler on helium! :-) Still fantastic as usual, however!

That's really cool, man. What do you mean by A442 and A440?

I don't like it as much with the capo, sounds too weak. Still freakn sweet tho.
