  • If you enter Kakariko Village through the Death Mountain Path before the on fire cutscene, you can explore it a little then. (warp to the fire temple, then go through the path).

  • you are accessing the cut scene areas

  • Can Someone Explain To Me What The "Beta" Version iS ? iS iT Just Stuff B4 They Finished The Game Or What?

  • Unfinished/missing textures really skeeve me out for some reason. Huge black areas creep me the fuck out :s

  • THE UNICORN FOUNTAIN

  • You guys are hilarious.

  • i found real zelda ura *(zelda beta) on ebay for 600 dollars and a nintendo64dd for about 500 im ssssssssssssssoooooooooooo saving up for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I read on IGN that when you can see the icons the Beta is over.

  • here is an idea... sorry if im wrong but why not put in zelda oot into a 64 with a DD and a gameshark... a lot more might be open for exploration

  • Hey you know on the last freeze, if you look to the top left corner there is a little yellow bar, if you input the right button combo you can access a debug screen, you can find the button combos on the internet and they vary for each version of the game.

  • Are you guys aware that there is EIGHT more beta worlds?

  • NO! My Gameshark broke so I can't enjoy anymore Beta Paper Mario/Zelda OoT stuff anymore... Trust me, it sucks to be Gamesharkless.

  • Something I must clarify: The GCN is NOT restoring URA Zelda. They're merely making a Zelda called CALLED URA Zelda. But it's not a restoration as far as I know.

Also, to explain, those "unfinished rooms" aren't really "unfinished". But the game loads you inside a cutscene, and Ice Cavern uses actors to transition rooms. As far as I know, those room-transitioning actors are not loading, so it does not render the room properly.

    Hope that clarifies! ;)

  • @Lishy1 I'm pretty for sure the Hard4Games team know more about what's going on in the project then anyone since they are affiliated with the GCN. I talk to Tony on skype so he well informed on what we are doing.

Second, you're wrong about the rooms. The scene's transition actors are working perfectly fine which is why you see the doors in those rooms to begin with. However, the rooms they load up are not defined in the alternative scene so they are set to default of the crystal room only.

  • @ZethN64 hey Zeth. Yeah, that comment was from a bit ago.

As for room actors being present in beta quest, that is really intriguing.

  • @Lishy1 The comment was from a week ago which is why I commented.

  • 8:56 "Maybe it'll be the Triforce..."

I was kinda hoping that it would be... actually, no I wasn't kinda hoping, I was really hoping it would be

  • the ice cavern was supposed to be the ice temple so this is probably the beta ice temple

  • Just so you know:

There was going to be dev tools so you could make levels, post them on a service, and let other people download them too.

I hope they do something like that for something like Zelda OOT Wii or something.

  • I tried to find the old website but i got this

    EROTIC BOX OFFICE

What!? ZELDA WAS A PORN SITE BACK IN 1995?!

I used the wayback time machine.. it has the 2000 Majora's Mask website.

  • Freaky

  • I really get skeeved out whenever I see unfinished rooms in games (pointy textures with black empty spaces D:)

  • 4:29 Sheik looks different, but i dont know why

  • Subbed, keep these videos coming!

  • Really interesting! Never knew this even existed.

  • hey dude were you ever in the unicorn fountian?

  • This is when you get a hex editor and add your own skins so that you can see what the hell is going on! XD

  • I think it's cool that the beta looks scary. XD or unerving a bit.

  • beta questing looks fucking scary

  • The cheats dont work on my gameshark I dont understand why yes its a pro for the actual n64 please help I want to use codes...

  • @FrogJam95128 Are you using the proper codes for your version of the game? There are few different versions of the US cartridge. We hacked v.1.0 and 1.1.

  • @FrogJam95128 get Project 64 and look in the Project64.cht file for the codes for your game... it is prolly the easiest way, for me at least// :3

  • Fantastic gentleman!

  • i think the nightmare world is like Hyrule destroyed, everyone is dead, everything is destroyed, the kakariko village in flames, and Sheik, just stands there being the only to survive

  • You should some beta questing for majoras mask

  • I just realized that something else could've been explored! In the ground when you push the gravestone in the Graveyard! :O There's gotta be something in there..

  • Awesome vid, guys. Sadly, I think this is the closest we'll ever get to the original beta.

  • @ rattlehead1999 sounds like you did though. You were just a little too descriptive there. Like that was exactly what happend to you. Lol loser...

  • Most of the "beta worlds" are just places from cutscenes. However, we obviously know that some of the stuff from earlier versions was retained for these "worlds".

The reason for this is that the cutscenes are generally made before the game is done, and the version of the "world" the cutscene takes place in is retained the way it is, since we only see the intended fraction of it of that scene. We are transported to these "worlds" each time a cutscene occurs.

  • Did you guys ever sexually explore each other when you were kids all the while telling each other it isnt gay its just practice. Just wondering if thats a normal thing to do cough ..

  • @rattlehead1999 Nope. Honestly John, Richie and Tj are the only friends I have that I've never even hugged. Why? We're too damn hard for games. It'd be awkward as hell.

  • The beginning was just playing during a cutscene. That's why there were no A or B as well as C buttons. For some reason, all the exit points went crazy when you exited. Not much of a beta, but there are still some beta elements. Just thought I'd let you guys know :)

    Btw, awesome channel.

  • I'm pretty sure those "beta rooms" were actually either segments to room already in the game (I'm sure some get split up into segments considering there is 4MB of RAM to store it all). Of course, some stuff is beta, like the red ice block in the Ice Cavern (which I think was the Ice Temple at one point), and the heart container in the opening (which I think is from the original Zelda 64), which is used in the debug rom.

  • Will the 3DS remake have the features that were supposed to be in "Ura Zelda"?

  • @stewiedude59

it could, but don't hold your breath.

  • @stewiedude59 Yeah, It MIGHT, but I was reading an NP and it said it was exactly like the original, exept for some texture upgrades and you can now have 4 items out instead of the original 3. other than that, it doesn't look like ura.

  • @RedLink27 actually, they said that it was gonna have the master quest on it, plus stuff that wasn't in the original, so maybe?

  • What's the code for the beta heart piece and the "alpha" jar?

I have the version 1.2 ocarina of time.

  • maybe that entrance that froze in the ice cavern was either supposed to be the supposed ice temple or the unicorn fountain?

  • I wish i worked with you guys, awesome video!

  • Has anyone ever tried to play the sun's song in the beta levels?

  • beer and zelda <3

  • You can unlock the secret title screen Ura Zelda in Zelda OOT. It adds Disk, look at my video: watch?v=fGISZ85-3ew

  • @adonfjv For sure, we actually did that for our N64DD review. BTW, your channel is awesome.

  • Holy crap this video IS my childhood!

I beta quest'ed this game so often it's a miracle my cartridge still worked! I even kept notebooks detailing what I found! I feel like I'm 11 years old again watching this. PLEASE mess with Zelda some more! :D

  • i own the game and used a rom on my pc and i actually got into kokori forest in the beta quest on version 1

  • @Robrienteam anything betaish you saw in the kokori forest?

  • I don't have the patience for this kind of thing but I enjoyed watching you guys play!

  • its like we just pluged in majoras mask.. Hahaha xD!

  • You guys did excellent i love your Beta Quest video, but do you guys think that Nintendo will add the missing stuff from the Zelda 64 beta in the new Ocarina of Time remake for the new Nintendo 3DS?

  • noooo where is your beard? A guy without a beard is kind of naked :-P At least I have one^^ Anyways, nice video like always!

  • You guys are the best, Zelda OOT is my favorite game and I actually bought a gameshark pro to use this very code but it never worked no matter what version code I tried. So glad you guys made this video, thank you, can't wait for part 2

  • Glad you enjoyed the video!

Gamesharks are so damn fickle. I own 4, and 3 of them won't even turn on. Also there's such a plethora of codes out there, including many bogus ones. It kinda sucks getting it all to work.

  • @hard4games I think I heard its if you over load the thing with to many codes it does that, Thats how I broke my GBA ones anyway, one great advancement with action replay, the ones I know of don't let you enter a code if you don't have enough room.

  • wow, that's really interesting. I'm a huge Zelda fan and I had no idea about the beta quest. So cool...

  • makes me wonder. if they were trying to save space why did they leave these in game?

  • That's a good question. My guess is that these little beta items and rooms didn't take up that much space...but then again there are a lot of them. It is kinda strange.

    -Tony

  • from what I understand, it wasn't a matter of saving space, but the Disk Drive Ura Zelda was going to be things they wanted to include in the original but couldn't due to the already late release date of the game. Also they probably never considered going through the lines of code to delete areas they presumed people would never reach anyway so they are left in, very interesting.

  • @Sypran

the actual model's use very little data its only cordinates file size is a few Kb, the texture & music use up more alot more data

  • @deluxedookie mmm i guess. that explains also why there isnt always a floor or walls (taking out the textures)

  • where's the other guy? Also, I liked Majora's Mask, did u hate it or think it dark?

  • John was away at school when we shot this. No worries, he'll be back!

I love Majora's Mask. It's probably one of, if not my favorite Zelda game. We're just poking fun at it.

    -Tony

  • Hahah! Blood red water, a very grim hyrule field and pure darkness, beta must have been Hyrule's apocalypse
