  • @Oppland29 Thank you, you sound real pissed off about asbestos and so am I!

  • best way to remove it: Demolish your home and build a new one ! Somewhat depressing I should say

  • I have some in my house. Usually you shouldn't worry about it, but mine is lining the A/C ducts, so... yeah.

  • The stuff is not safe to work with just look at the statistics of people who worked with boilers insulated with asbestos nearly every day with no respirator.

But it's no where near as dangerous as the media makes it out to be.

It's not like high level nuclear waste or dioxin but you don't want to breath it in on anything remotely resembling a regular biases.

The media often exaggerates everything and the US media often outright lies.

  • poor title for video

  • Here's a better way to remove it: don't renovate your house!

  • Asbestos poisoning sucks you can carry it with you until you die for decades

poor health is associated with asbestos exposure in most cases

    tiredness headaches ect

dont believe it when they say in 30 years blah blah blah it begins earlier than 1 year after exposure because your body is battling trying to get it out of its system

  • Its in everything. From the roof to the basement walls. The flooring, ceilings, walls, and even furniture. I'm glad I'm down sizing and going all natural.

  • I don't get why people bother removing it. It's 70% more dangerous when disturbed.

  • Jarhelvete you are taking the piss!!! Eat Asbestos??? Are you f'in stupid mate. While you're at it why dont you stick a burning hot iron pipe up your rectum and see if thats safe!

See when you die of cancer you idiot then i hope you remember this conversation. I've never ever ever heard something so pathetically stupid in my whole life. What an idiot!!!!

  • @sanjeevsanghera asbestos has a fishhook like crystaline structur, if those fishhooks are allready abosorbed by other material, then its quite harmless.

And as to the namecalling, why so rude, do you have a chemistry educasion or experience with working with asbestos to base your remarks on, or are your just an ignorant teenager, that belives everthing your told.

  • In my contry, you can remove the asbestos yourself, if it`s your house, without sertificasion or protection. but working indoor i would wear a mask, and a suit, if i was getting coverd in it. the cost is getting wrid of it, after you have taken it down.

my advise, burry it in your back yard when nobody is watching.

  • i`ve eaten asbestos, to prove a point.

Its not harmful to eat, or get on your skin.

but don`t get asbestos dust on a regular basis in your lungs.

It`s workers that have worked with it every day for years, that have died of canser.

This asbestos scare has gone amok, you have to wear "spacesuits" just to touch asbestos now.

  • @jarlhelvete asbestos in your stomach can cause bowel cancer it can get lodged and never get out

no symptoms except with some people stomach bloating

  • @hiewy asbestos has a fishhook like crystaline structur, if those fishhooks are allready abosorbed by other material, then its quite harmless

  • my family told me to eat abstos said it's awsome, and it tasted like cotton candy

  • thanks mate!!!!!!!!

  • This video sucks. Thanks dbag.

  • There is no 100% safe way to remove asbestos. You need to look up "asbestos removal" on any search engine and you will get a lot of information. Remember to wear a P2 respirator and disposable coveralls that cover your footwear as well. Do not break the stuff up - try to pull it off the wall. If you need to, drive the nails in through the sheeting and pull it off that way. Wet everything down with a water / wood glue mix to stop fibres in air. Use shaving cream over where you punch nails in.

  • Painting is probably one of the safest ways to contain and seal it. Generally speaking, water or oil based is ok - the paint will effectively "seal" the asbestos and stop any fibres from becoming loose.

When I paint asbestos, I also use a gap filler from the hardware store to seal off any gaps where the asbestos sheeting / planks are joined. This way the entire area is sealed off and cannot be easily manipulated to create loose fibres into the air.

  • At my drill hall at cadets it's got aspestos I went in it it smells

  • my grandad and dad used to be te " specialists tat removed aspestos and my grandad later died of aspestosis an aspestos related ilness

  • so how do you remove it safely???

  • @cdmharley get a specialist in

  • If you need more information on asbestos try this website asbestosattorney.eu

  • Majority of studies show that every man, woman and child have had some form of exposure because the hideous stuff is everywhere. In my opinion, every Government on earth has a responsibility to get rid of the shit from every house, building, office, contaminated site etc. because THEY allowed the crap to be sold even when they knew it was a health hazard. Even the Romans knew how bad it was. The best advice - get anything suspect tested by a lab and get a Pro to remove it if it needs to be.

  • 3. Going to the Doctor after an exposure will do nothing because it takes 10 - 40 years after exposure before it can start to affect your health.

    4. If you live in a house with intact asbestos - keep it sealed / painted and you will have not trouble with it - sometimes it is better to leave the intact stuff in place becausedisturbing it can release fibres into the air. If the stuff is friable, i.e. crumbling then get a professional to remove it.

    5. - Respirators used MUST be of good quality.

  • I am an industrial hygienist who has worked with every major hazardous substance on earth including asbestos. To answer a few comments:

    1. Respirators that are P2 and above will stop fibres if they are worn properly. That means you must be clean shaven and do positive / negative airflow test to ensure the right seal on your face.

    2. Governments have known for many decades the dangers with asbestos - they just dont give a shit.

  • @howlinsg1968 Hi there, I agree it should have been used in the first place.

Can I ask you about alkali paints being used to cover asbestos.

Is that paint toxic as well? Are there hazards when painting on asbestos?

Really would appreciate a reply as there seems to be no info on net.

    Thankyou.

  • Why on earth did they even use it?! D: (I got Asbestos flooring, Getting it professionally removed...)

  • Removing asbestos is easy 1. Don't tell anyone 2. Wear a respirator 3. Soak the product with a hose before removing it and make sure to keep it wet while cleaning it up.

  • first of all, you need to be certified to remove this nasty stuff, you need to notify the epa (if the job exceeds a certain square footage) and you have to know how to properly dispose it and do your NESHAPS. if your looking at this video and thinking "i'm gonna remove that pipe insulation, or my oven packing" just remember theoretically it only takes one fiber to develop lung cancer or mesothelioma.

  • They put asbestos dust in cocaine, so i have been told.

  • I have question I'm about to buy a home but there is pipe made of asbestos in one bedroom

My question is how much dose asbestos pipe insulation cost me?

  • I worked in a major city with private contractors who worked in buildings dating back to 1924. We ended up demolishing rooms where there was the mesh & plaster ceilings and walls. Nothing was ever surveyed. I was young and didn't know any better.

  • ngav, don't wanna worry you, but you might first see symptons of absest expose 15-30 years later, and the absest that get's in you, will never get out, it stays in the loung. This is why people shouldnt produce something before it's tested probably. But profit vs human = profit

  • Europe had laws against asbo during the late 19th century. The ancient Greeks and Romans both knew of the dangers of asbo in the lungs. The simple fact is that they knew it was bad, but didn't care. The US didn't pass legislation in regard to asbo until the 1970s. And, it was partially banned in the 1980s. It wasn't completely banned in the US until 2009. Back in the day, they used to put asbo in baby cloths, bed linens and even cigarette filters; it was literally in everything.

  • Car Brake pads also made by asbestos, If you live close to freeway or busy street you may have asbestos in your system

  • asbestos sheets such as transite panels are not friable unless they are cut or grinded "low risk"

  • i moved tons of asbestos sheets and nothing happened to me

  • The title of this video is "How To Safely Remove Asbestos". In 5:13 there is nothing mentioned about the actual specifics involved in asbestos removal.?.?.?

  • he says any house built before 1980 will contain asbestos. my house is pre ww2 and has none

  • you mistaked the word will for may contain....

  • @REVERENDJOSHGODDERS Well Asbestos materials were introduced in the 60's. Anything built before that wont contain any :)

  • @Yadilea Asbestos materials were introduced in the late 19th century; that is, before the year 1900 The U.S. asbestos industry began in 1858 when fibrous anthophyllite was mined for use as asbestos insulation by the Johns Company, now Johns Manville. The first commercial asbestos mine began in 1874 near Quebec. By the mid 20th century it was in roof, ceiling, wall and floor panels, insulation, and filling compounds, just to name a few.

  • @REVERENDJOSHGODDERS "...will probably..." is part of the phrase he used.

  • i demolished my own garage with contained roofing tiles, i had thrown them all in a hire skip, but the company said they won't pick them up. I did use a mask when i removed the tiling, but it was a cheap mask. (i didn't buy it) i dont have any problems or dont feel ill. Do i have something to worry about?

  • not for 20-50 years but depends how much you have breathed in

  • I would go straight to your local doctor to have your lungs checked. You may not feel ill now but a few months or years down the line you will start to feel the effects of it.

Face masks DO NOT STOP asbestos because the fibres are soo small, you see the mask that guy is wearing, thats what you need and they are about $500 each so for your safety sir i really really really hope that you go to the doctor and tell them what happen as soon as you can.

    NEVER TRY AND REMOVE ASBESTOS!!!!

  • @makmegs Are you sure? Do you just mean that dust masks don't stop the fibers? because 3M makes a Respirator for about $25 that says it can block Asbestos at up to 10X's the OSHA Permissible limit..

  • @randylikesdrums I wouldn't go risking my life from watching a youtube video and a $25 respirator mask. I'd rather pay the $500 bucks to get a PROFESSIONAL to do it who has been properly trained and accredited, and not just watched a youtube video and gone to the local hardware store...

  • @makmegs Well of course that's a better option, but not everybody can afford to hire a professional for Thousands of dollars - especially in this economy. Some people (as long as it's permitted) will perform the job themselves, with their own equipment (spraying and wet wipes), which will prevent fibers from being released. If I had an asbestos problem and I had the money, I would surely hire the pros.

  • @randylikesdrums a HEPA mask or respirator is what you probably want They are not that expensive.

  • @makmegs dude thats just a msa toxic dust respirator, its like 25 bucks

  • @makmegs The masks cost about $25. 3M makes them.

  • i live in Marin Del Rey and our new house (built in 1974) has asbestos popcorn ceilings. Will cost $4,000 to remove from a 1600sqft, 2 story home. If you want the name of the company or the lab I sent my samples to message me.

  • does any one know which company test for asbestos here in las vegas, nevada so i can send the popcorn example, thanks

  • This is what I'm about to take classes for...40 hours of classes and a chance to do something outside the realm of minimum wage in NY state, gotta make a living some how without college. Thanks for uploading the video.

  • I just started my course for the NY license. Did you finish? Have you found a job? How's it going?

  • I sent you a message but i'm not sure if it went through for some reason? let me know

  • do asbestos u can lol

  • 1980? asbestos got banned in 1973. so this video is worng

  • My house was built in 75 and it's got asbestos. The place that did the testing said it was banned in 1980.

  • @00Mandingo00 It's not actually banned at all. Anything above 1% in ACM (Asbestos Containing Material) is not allowed. So that 1% your Government doesn't care that you inhale.

  • This video didn't show how to remove asbestos like the title says. False promise!

  • It's extremlely important to note that ASBESTOS REMOVAL SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED unless you are a trained and licenced professional. it IS NOT a do it yourself project!

I have been a health and safety professional for more than 20 years primarily involved in asbestos removal projects and have seen too many individuals attempt to save money by doing it themselves. This can prove to be very costly in the end.

  • please explain.

  • Attempting to handle asbestos without proper training and licences can lead to improper handling and thus increasing your chances of exposure. Its not worth risking your health over. As well as the chances of beeing FINED for unlicenced hadling of asbestos containing materials. It can cost you alot of money as well as your health.

  • Woe!

  • Not necessairly true. Some people are more suscepatble to it than others. It is only the non-cancerous asbestos-related diseases that require long exposures. Today medical experts agree that any exposure is not OK.

  • get help and information and help victims:

    mesothelioma-asbestos-cancer(.)info

  • All in all he didn't show how to remove it except to hire someone else. He could have said that in the first 10 seconds. It was informative but had the wrong title.

  • it didn't show how to remove it because it takes a fourty hour class to learn all the proper methods for asbestos abatement. different types have different methods for removal. as long as it isn't in bad shape it is best to just leave it alone. if you feel the need to get it removed you definatley need to contact a environmental company in your area. most insulation companies do abatement as well.

  • i work for an asbestos company in the UK, u need to contact a reputable firm for disposal of your asbestos.

  • mike and kell fookoff you contain asbestos

  • is it legal to bury asbestos in my back garden?

  • Why would you want to do that? Instead of burying dangerous asbestos in your own garden, there are legitimate (legal) channels to dispose of it properly.

Avoiding responsibility and sidestepping laws that protect people's health are the main reasons why there's asbestos disease in the first place.

  • For the same reason that it's immoral and illegal to murder people; that's why we shouldn't dump toxins & harmful materials where others might encounter them. Why am I explaining this to you? Are you a US government employee?

  • lmao

  • yes.

  • Laws and regulations change from State to State / Province to Province. In Ontario and the majority of Provinces in canada it IS ILLEGAL to dump or even TRANSPORT asbestos without an appropriate licence for such. Having said this, in your best interest you should avoid handling asbestos altogether and should call a qualified person to contain and dispose of it in a safe manner.

  • find it hard to believe this is in canada when they still mine it there...crazy

  • Canada exports about 6 Billion Dollars a year of asbestos to other countries. Mining about 50% of the worlds asbestos production.

  • whilst this was very interesting watching this it didn't really say how to remove it safely and after hearing the wods asbesto in nearly every single sentence it started to get funny and losing interest
