Hi albertine - please let me know details of the Rene Laine version. The year released? 7" or LP track and label number. So we can place on Barry Mason website database at barrybarrysongwriterDOTcom - Cheers
I still have the original gramophone record - Storm in a Teacup from my father from the end of 60'! I can remember when he gave me his gramophone and his records when i was still in highschool, now i will have a son and i will give him gramophone with The Fortunes record to:P great tunes!
I was very fortunate to go to New Zealand in 1994 with the Forts, and later play on their 'Some Bridges ' CD. Great band, great guys, miss you Rodders (you plonker !)
this must be from someone very close to roders , or a true fortunes fan , you must have some fantastic memories love colin and lesley ,fortunes /roders fans were is the rose
I'm a NYC boy who bought the record and loved "You've Got Your Troubles" back in '65 . Fast forward - I'm stayting in South London in the late 80's. I bust my ass traveling on the public transport to get up to a theatre in Uxbridge where the Fortunes are playing. They were exquisite. Wonderful musicianship and harmonies. I have always treasured that night and felt so privileged to have seen them live.
Those are some of the moments I hope I get to re-live in an afterlife. It was heavenly.
Did you know that your grandad "Baz" laid down the lead vocals on "I'm Not Following You" the reverse of "Storm In A Tea Cup". I was told that Roger Cook gave him the opportunity as the others took their time coming back to the studios after a long dinner break.
i'm not a great fortunes fan, but i'm certainly a fan of your video, this was excellent, I was now off to find dave clark 5, but perhaps i'll search out the fortunes
Well JewJew567, you should be proud.Great support guitarist/vocalist.His little onstage jig and shoulder shrug on the '65 video definitely adds a touch to the performance!
that lead singer has a fantastic voice.sounds like he still has it today.one of my alltime favorite groups.would love to see them today if they are still performing.
Yes, the complete video of The Idol (BEAT CLUB performance) is available on Berts BR MUSIC label DVD videos. Check out the BR music label web site. Regards John Holman fan base

I would love to see the whole of 'Caroline'. I can remember listening to this on my tiny transistor radio with the signal fading in and out....Those were the days!
excellent tribute to one of the best vocal groups to come out of the UK.I compare this group side by side with DC5 as the best harmony groups of that era.greetings from the USA.
It was 40 years ago today a Mod clothing store told the Fortunes to play. They were in a cocacola add on the back of Car Craft Magazine in 1966 trying on Mod suits in a boutique.
Sad week, RIP Rod and Barry x
