  • Great job man! Far as I'm concerned, can't call yourself a bassist until you can play this tune.

  • I'm a 30 yr guitarist.

    But, after C-ing Rush live, I got a P-Bass & 100 Watt Amp 2 go w/it.

Just a baby on bass. Geddy thankfully shattered my typical Guitarist Arrogance.

    Thx 4 the vids.

If U had clearer audio, to hear what U're saying more clearly, would B better even than Ur vids R already. Maybe a head mic or a mic & stand @ head level as Ur giving us Ur lessons. Thx again, man.

-Steve/SF/Calif./USA ~Rush rules!! (An avid listener since '81 when Moving Pictures resleased here.)

  • @LandSnipe415

Its my accent I suppose too

I'm just doing these on my phone, and I'm loath to get any more technical on it, but i hear ya!

    Thansk for teh comment dude

  • @mindhead2005 LOL I always called it YY ZEE myself, (and I'm english) becasue I thought thats just how it was intended, until I noticed the canadian pronunciation. :)

  • Generally speaking, Z is pronounced Zed in Canada, Rush are from Canada, not Europe" or USA. they would call it YY Zed. just saying. ;)

  • @jedw

    fair enough LOL!

  • @jedw

Indeed, just watching Neil peart on Classic Albums, who says " y y zee!"

  • @mindhead2005

    Sorry - he says ZED!

    :)+

  • Very good tutorial.

  • I actually have tabs for this, and you got it spot on. But I think a tutorial will help me learn quicker. I had all the way to the first solo learned, and I'm checking my progress. Thank you for making these videos.

  • @Legionbass19

Thank you for watching thema nd for letting me know they were useful to you. :)

  • Cool, man. You got a better camera for this one.

  • I suggest you talk about the right hand more !!! Maybe hone the webcam in on the R.H. some more n' go into more detail on how you do the i, m, i, m, etc. thing !!! That gets confuzing !!!

  • @kelleykrueger

    Thanks for commenting Kelley

The rh seemed to me to be less important. The setup I had didnt allow for filming it, and if a person has reasonable right-hand technique, and a little common sense, me saying "i-m-i-m " etc seems superflous.

The left hand is more important tp explain - notes and where to finger them

    But I hear ya!

  • @mindhead2005

Thanks for taking the time to put these up. I too am curious about you rh technique, just on the triplets (D note on the G string). I can't seem to get that type of speed with the I/M style. Could just be my crap fine motor skills. :-) I tried R/M/I but since I have never explored that before, it's a bit awlward. Is that what you're doing? It seems more practical for those quick triplets. Good stuff, Thanks!

  • @rfojr

RMI is probably the best way to get the triplet thing happening. I do that a lot actually, now that you say it!

Like all things...practise it and it will get easier I suppose.

  • thanks!

  • i dont understand the triplet thing

  • @joedaho1

Its even in the name "trip-el-et"!

Its a group of three notes close together

  • @mindhead2005 ok, so at the end of the video so its g7-g7-g7-d10-g7. again, im rlly sorry to bug you, i want to know this song

  • @joedaho1

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Whats G7, D10? Where in the video by time do you mean?

  • @joedaho1

    No it would be g7, d10, g7, d10, d9, d7,a 10 a9

    That help?

  • could you slow it down some more, the begining part and the ending part of the climb i cant see or understand what your doing, srry im a little slow

  • @joedaho1

I think there's software to slow this stuff down Joe. Rather than me do it again

  • @joedaho1

Download the KMPlayer Joe, it slows down video for you mate

  • Cheers so much for this mate, I needed to learn this for my GCSE solo piece, and you really helped :)

  • Dude you are amazing but you should do Time stands still by rush

  • Just found your vids, love them, I concur with blazix, its nice and easy to undestand, well done mate!

  • You Tube at it's finest! Excellent lesson.

  • thanx, finally got it. you rock for taking the time!

  • great lesson! finally the secrets of those lick i've been trying to learn for years! well, actually never dared to!

  • I've seen most others play this section lower on the fretboard starting on the A-string. I guess it doesn't matter, as long as one is comfortable enough to be able to hit the individual notes properly. Great video...5-Stars!

  • thanks so much man, i heard this song and said' holy shit that must be hard on the bass' but thanks for postin this vid so i can blow my mates away with it!:P
