@RABthefirst Good to hear about durian! With an extremely hard outer shell, the fruit is pretty tough, but I'm not sure about how fast it decays... Maybe fast though, because some Sri Lankan friends of mine in the UK have said that it's impossible to find there...
@RABthefirst I laugh hard at your durian comment. I just can't stand that sh*t...smells like rotten barf. If you like challenging stuff, try djenkol bean.Like garlic, it doesn't have funky/strong smell, but once you eat it, it will stay on you tongue for couple of days.(No amount of brushing help at all)
@RABthefirst And you breath well smells like it for couple of days...and your sh*t smells just like that. You can call it god of garlic. lol But don't eat too much though cuz djenkolic acid is known to damage your kidneys.
@RABthefirst Lol that's the spirit! But, really, it tastes pretty good. Texture-wise, it's kind of like soft caramel candy, and has a hint of bitterness;it goes well with pork stew and spicy tomatoes sauce.
@AndrewSmith00000007 Don't get me wrong. I'm all about new things...all about new flavors. Just don't want zombie breath for a week. You should see the videos we made of eating Durian and Silk-worm larvae...We enjoy trying new stuff (actually, I do and she humors me). :)
I gave you thumbs up, but honestly this is the only Sri Lankan fruit I can't eat (I'm yet to taste woodapple juice or shake). Fermented smell and taste is just too overpowering for me:) I'm in Kandy right now. Would like to meet Youtube celebrity:) Can I invite you for lunch or dinner someplace, expenses on me?
@rytis1 I'm actually not in Sri Lanka anymore... but thanks so much for the offer! You should give woodapple juice a try - it's sweetened up so it almost kind of tastes like raisins! Thanks again, and hope you're having a great time!
I lived through durian so no fruit can scare me now. Does that travel well enough for export or is it one of those fast decaying fruits?
