i think they made the caracther victoria in HIMYM just because of this song - or could it be that they know that in the future it would appear a wild and awesome tv show like this and made the song especially for it?
All these people who "discover" classic rock via 21st century situation comedies or video games are amazing. I wish I could hear some of these for the first time again. :-) Enjoy!
This wasn't from the " You Really Got Me" album. It was from the "Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)" album in 1969. I bought that album, and no one else I knew had ever heard of it,even years later. But it was very likely their best album, critically. And that is saying a lot.
@ broblem12 - That is what makes the Kinks so great. They have so many songs that are completely different from everything else they've done. Great song writing band.
Glad as always to find more solid and enjoyable Kinks songs. Sounds a bit different than their other songs and that is cool. I love their songs no matter how they sound!!!!!
i can;t believe that so many people are so stupid. Compaing the kooks to THE KINKS?!! and what an idiot is thinking that fucking kooks vocalist is better than Ray?!!!
@kubak551 what matters is that we know that ray is the king. his voice still is perrrrrfect just like him..remember, you cant please all the people all the time and dont waste time trying to convince them of what is good for them. thank goodness we have extremely excellent taste in music!!!
The album was named after their brother-in-law Arthur Anning who moved to Australia qith their sister Rose. Only Ray could write such a happy sounding song about such serious subject.... cynical with class!
@GaryBoy1976 Of course... Luke sings many times better than The Kinks's vocalist (his voice is ugly)... The Kooks's version for Victoria rocks... they are very cool... But... The Kinks've made an awesome song... Anyway... The Kooks rocks... Have you ever heard their Victoria version?
@jofeho hahahaha...the singer's name is Ray Davies, and he will be known for decades because of the dozens of absolute classics spanning 30 years. I like the Kooks, but no one will be talking about Luke like that

One of my favorite Kinks songs ever. I don't think Ray Davies will have to worry about someone covering one of his song better than he can do it.
