@paunocudatuamae It's very hard to judge light levels from camera footage. Also, the LED's beam is probably more focused than the halogen so that it's light doesn't show up on the wall as much. I agree it looks more dim but not anything like 10x.
@MrMatty190891 Yeah, I thought the video was showing that 4W LED was nearly equivalent to a 50W halogen. Anyhow, I bought some good quality 5W Kosnic LEDs and they're not bad and will be fine in my garage, but I would say they are somewhere between 35W and 50W. I think a 6W or 7W would be a direct replacement but I'll have to wait for them to become smaller and cheaper before I use them to replace my kitchen halogens.

Are all those spiraled "energy" saving bulbs LEDs? I thought they were a different technology altogether because sometimes the energy savers take about a minute to reach full brightness while the LEDs I'm used to seeing (in flashlights mostly) go to full brightness right away.
@Esperantisto84 The spiral bulb is called a Fluorescent bulb. It uses electricity to excite gas. Like you said, Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are completely different technology.
the cheap crappy leds you can buy at most retail stores are blueish. you either need to pay some bigger coin or DIY. problem is proper high end led lights are larger because for the equivalent or greater light output to what they are replacing, they need cooling surface area. Or they only get 30-50,000 hours which is pretty poor considering a good LED can go 100,000+ hours if designed to not cook itself and fit in a standard bulb area...
I just bought 10x4w led mr16 on Ebay from Hong Kong for $41 Australian dollars (approx US$45) if they work well I will change my whole house over to led. led is the future of lighting.
We can provide diodes to you.

Maybe you accept the lower light of the led, but is evident that the halogen is about 10 times more light than the led.

What?! the LED light on the left is clearly emitting far less light than the 50W on the right
nickisacebeans 2 months ago
@nickisacebeans That's the point. It's only 4W. Imagine if it was 12.5 times as much. The 50W would look like the 4W in this video, in comparison.

Magical electronics that don't generate heat? Not so. But, yeah, it will be probably 1/4 the heat...
