why is there 22 dislikes? you clicked a video that said "Live sand dollar at the ocean beach" What you got to see, was: a live sand dollar, at the beach -.-
So, wait... It's not actually worth a dollar? The people at the dollar store are gonna be pissed when they open the bag full of these I used as payment...
@ChandraAPowell A sand dollar is a common ornament of the home...but only after their dead and dried out they look cool. I've never seen one alive though.
@robokitty247 yup, they are living organisms, and when they die, all that remains is the skeleton that people always find washed up on the beach. they're a kind of echinoderm, so they're related to starfish and sea urchins
i wonder how many colors there are in all sand dollars? this one is pretty . the ones i find are always dead, im guessing they just don't make it to the water fast enough and dry out im not sure ..
@philly1537 you're useless, leaving useless comments, they eats dead organisms and algae to keep the ocean clean, what do you do? Sit on your computer, writing childish comments, using electricity, which burns coal, destroying our atmosphere. Compare you and the sand dollar, the sand dollar helps the earth while you pollute. Sand dollar wins.

@philly1537 U r so mean! Useless? Sand dollars can do plenty of things to help the earth. Ur probably just bored so u start picking on a little, harmless, earth-helping sand dollar. Mean-O
@ZacFails Why don't you read the message I was replying to? I was replying to btran313 who was claiming that this was a horseshoe crab and not a sand dollar.
whoa!!!!! I've never seen a sand dollar alive before. And you can definitely see it moving in that video, as well as the long trail it left behind in the sand! Thanks for the post!
I went to Mexico last Thanksgiving for vacation, and I was on the beach when my brother showed me one. It was live, and the top of it is kinda rough. The shell itself is hard, and if you flip it over, it has weird tiny little hard hairlike things, and they use that to move. They actually bury themselves in the sand with water pretty fast. We just went into the water where it was about a foot deep, and we dug around. In five minutes, we found 12 live sand dollars.
Omg sand dollars were once live? Haha I've caught a few in California but I'm not sure if they were dead yet. I thought they were just empty shell things :S
sand dollars are runnin around all over our beach here in nhulunbuy. you probably haven't heard of the town, but its right up the top of the NT in australia. google it or something.
yea we live like 1 km from the beach (the town is only 3 square kms. pretty small, and there's nobody at the beach)
Obviously something lived in the shell dumbass. What do you think, they just appear out of nowhere? You must be American, right? I mean seriously. One thing infers another.
I found a dead sand dollar around the beach my family and i go on stupid scavenger hunts but i found it away from the beach next to our car near a fence. it was soooo pretty!!!
A sand dollar is a coin produced not artificially, but naturally. And nature created these sand dollars, thinking that humanity would one day use them in cash transaction. But we have artificial money now. This sand dollar isn't needed anymore.
