as far as the statue of Gandhi in Leicester is concerned, I reckon its to do with the fact that, if Gandhi hadn't fought for social justice in India, most Asian people, who live in Leicester, would still be suffering in India. Gandhi is in part the reason for such a large Asian population in England. He didn't just fight for independence. Good comment about Jade though :D- and totally agree.
