The 45 should be in better focus so you can see "New Orleans" on the record - thank you for posting this 1972 DANCE/FUNK/SOUL classic, and now listen to anything by The Meters or Allen Toussaint or the Wild Magnolias or Eddie Bo or Roger & the Gypsies or Irma Thomas or Jean Knight, and dance! DAVEDJ
Nice record to explain "deep funk". Drum driven, bassline, wah-wah, breaks, horns, uptempo/danceable, with the great shouted intro. It's all there. It has the "Tighten Up" groove at its foundation but is rawer, funkier, better.
Opening line is on SomaFM Groove Salad in a song called HumDrum.

Were any members of Archie Bell and the Drells in this band. It sounds just like their '60s hit "Tighten Up."

New Orleans in the late 60s & early 70s was definetly one of the funkiest cities in the world! Groups and songs like these prove it.

I'm curious to know if this is the same Top Notes that did the original Twist and Shout version in 1961! Is it?

No, one is white group, and one is black group.
