The "War on Drugs" pays a lot of people's bills. Detectives, CO's, DA's, Judges, DEA Agents, etc. make more $ than 95% of drug "dealers" and other criminals in the drug trade. They do NOT want to "win" the war on drugs or they'd be out of a job. btw; You can score a wide variety of drugs IN PRISON so locking somebody up doesn't even separate them from their addiction! Prison does no one any good except the people listed above who draw pretty good paychecks for locking up their fellow man...

Stop trying to make this a race issue. The biggest drug problem today is meth, made, sold & used primarily by whites.

Colour is irrelevant. If you make something people want illegal, by default you hand over supply to criminals. Prohibitionists use dishonest arguments like "why not legalise murder"? As for locking up people who profit by selling harmful substances, why not jail the executives Anhauser Busch? After all alcohols kill hundreds of thousands more than all illegal drugs.

Their business is LEGAL & REGULATED, & 99% of alocoholics stop without needing jail. When was the last time you heard of liquor store owners shooting each other over "turf". You haven't. Al Capone used to though, but no one would seriously propose restarting prohibition because some drinkers end up on Skid Row.

The USA is in the middle of its worst economic crisis since the 1930's. i totally agree wit that because im facing sentencing on drug charges and i was locked up for 3 months before posting bond and u r a marked target out on the streets and not trusted by otha dealers because think u r a snitch tryin to set them up!! and if u cant learn the first go around that hustlin dont get u no where but locked up or dead!!!

Inmates in Drug charges only should be released regardless of "quantity" of dope. One year max term for any drug charges would put a guy out of business without taking up bed space. Prison terms should be shortened drastically except for violent or pedo crimes. Overcrowding is THE biggest problem with California prisons.

Thats ridiculous. The problem is CAUSED by the illegality of drugs. The solution is to end drug prohibition & regulate & tax drugs sales to ADULTS.

Spending $70 billion a year to try & keep drugs out of the hands of addicts is utterly insane; & acts as a subsidy to organised crime & terrorism.

Apartheid South Africa jailed 181 per 100,000 black men. The USA in 2004 jailed 4900 per 100,000. How can that not be institutional racism?
