  • silo guy- 25 to 30 year old Asian Guy with multiple Masters in Computer Sciences.

3dsMax guy- 13 yr old freckled chubby kid doing beginners tutorial, with a freaken ferari.

  • Thanks for posting the comparison! I'm interested in adapting Silo to my pipeline and wanted more information, your video helped out a lot!

  • Eh, it depends on many things. Silo is extremely easy and comfortable, but it's development has stopped.Guys don't feel like coding and fixing it right now.

    Tragic and immature.

  • @MrMemag AFAIK Silo is still in Nevercenter's development cycle, it just isn't their top priority ATM, as mobile app development has taken the center stage in that company.

  • @Shinhaquro I don't think so.

Updates are way overdue (CHECK THE DATES), new release is not on the horizon,

total disregard of users and suppression of criticism on forum.

From top customer service and innovative product development to ghost application.

Company made a 180 degree turn.

I'd rather buy a program that I know will be taken care of in the future.

Zbrush updates take time, for comparison, but they push the boundaries and always deliver the goods.

Try VoidWorld, Silo users like it.

  • @Shinhaquro Take warning.

Silo the perfectly mature modeling app

    watch?v=y9nKqOZjPjk

  • Well maybe your just better at Silo then at 3ds max?

  • at 0:24 how do you make a polygon out of a spline ?

  • How about Silo vs Maya? Just curious

  • everybody knows that 3dsmax is shit! thanks for confirm that! :D

  • ya, it's not good for everything, but good for me this moment yet.

  • thanks for the movie. I want to know the name of the super background song, pls tell me =P

  • hi there, the song is Sonic Syndicate Denied

  • thanks a lot, dude~ =D

  • the silo user looks more skilled than the max guy. thats make a big diference in terms of productivity. no matter what app you are using

  • but you weren't using any of the poly tools in max. you are using tools from 10 years ago max versions.

  • are you kidding? mabye you should use polytools to show us what speed you can

  • A dedicated modeller is always going t be faster than any All-in-one suite. The focus on just getting it done is just greater. Also the Enzo is one of the easiest cars to model thanks to its stark shapes, hard edges, and easily isolated sections.

  • I'd like to see comparo between Silo and Blender. I use blender and Max, and find about the same speedup with Blender vs max as this... but that's just me.

  • he modeled the easy part

  • this easy part already includes mostly skills, maybe you don't know what mean I perform yet

  • Interesting. Same modeler, same techniques, different apps. Could be lack of features in Max. Silo has a killer work-flow.

  • lack of features? nah, silo has the same features, but better implemented with less speedblocks on the way. that is all.

  • True, it's amazing how much of a difference just removing those speedblocks makes.. not only in speed, but also creativity.. Silo is the only modeling app I've used that generally just allows me to work without getting stuck on some tool..

While their tools may not have as much versatility as other apps, they work really well for most situations... and their behavior is predictable, so you usually don't have to think about whats the best tool for the job..

  • good term: "speedblocks". That's basically what I was getting at by "killer work-flow". A good UI can save so much time.

  • Comment removed

  • TY tensun - your right about those damned speeded up vids. Frankly I could have sat through this if you modeled the entire car at normal speed.

For its money silo rocks. I'm sure max does too, but for the money I'm never going to find out :P

Top vid, and top work m8, all the best.

  • I love Silo, but it lacks of some tools for precise hard surface modeling.

  • I mean it's interesting but that's about it because if you are going to make a comparison there are so many factors involved. The speed of the person, how knowledgeable they are at modeling, how familiar they are with the application etc... so although it doesn't really prove anything it's a nice little mini tutorial on modeling a car.

  • Could you compare 3dmax to modo 401?
