  • betty puts so much raw emotion in this song it touches your heart. thank-you tube for helping me rediscover betty hutton who was always a favorite of mine!

  • Sounds like she is right next to you, I love this woman!

  • story. of. my. life.

  • Just proves that back then you actually had to be a good singer instead of just using auto-tune.

  • She did it the best

  • what a voice. no one compares to her today.

  • How beautiful is this?

  • Every time I hear Betty sing this song, she breaks my heart. Her performance of the number in the delightful PERILS OF PAULINE is just perfect.

  • She had a beautiful and soulful voice (her ballads)

  • An old-time favorite of mine!

  • marvin gaye has a version of this song as well.

  • My husband has a 45 of Mel Carter (best known for Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me) doing this song in the '60s. Mindblowing. Get your hands on it if you can.

  • Betty Hutton sings this song beautifully. It is such a beautiful song.

  • she never gave a bad performance

  • yeah i wish i didn't

  • Nice rendition; actually the most popular version of this was by Vaughn Monroe.

  • I've heard this song sung many times by other artists, but none of them affect me as much as the way Betty sings it,it always makes me tearful.love you Betty!!

  • K.D. Lang did a pretty good version of this song...very similar to this style.

  • So simple, so beautiful this song should have won the Oscar but didnt..& Betty Hutton is so unappreciatted..what a talent ! She sang mostly zany. upbeat songs but look what she could to a ballad like: I Wish I Didnt Love You So ...beautiful.. could make you love ad cpould bring you to tears as well... Miss you Betty you were one of the best!!!

  • her pix and the poster has no resemblance at all.

  • I have Vaughn Monroe's version and I like it just as much, but I heard Betty's version on XM first so I have an attachment to it.

  • Love this song & Betty's rendition! Shows she could do a lot more than just belt 'em. (Altho her livelier songs are great also.)

  • i love this so , one of my all time favorites , thanks betty

  • Beautiful

  • Even though she's gone, Betty Hutton is my favorite actress and singer. "Incendiary Blonde" is a work of art.

  • i LOVES me some betty hutton, God knows i do! BUT she is NOT a ballad singer...flat, flat.....flat. she knew it herself .

  • I disagree. I think she is a great interpreter of lyrics. She brings goosebumps. She's not the best technical singer but I think being able to put real feeling into a song is much harder to come by than relative pitch.

  • Beautiful! This song as it should be played and sung. How tragic that Betty Hutton for all her beauty, energy and talent lived such an unhappy life. Rest in Peace, Blonde Bombshell.

  • Great to hear this song again. I once heard in a old war movie, and it's always stuck with me. Betty was one great gal.

  • This Ballad for me is the essential Betty Hutton and indeed Frank Loesser, its a pity they lost contact with each other they could have gone a lot further in there careers. I was stunned when I first heard Betty singing this Ballad. Her delivery and timing are perfect as usual. What great Talent.

  • I love Betty rendition... It's beautiful and so was she.. Thanks for posting

  • Beautiful! Along with Betty, Frank, K.D. etc , you might want to hear Dick Haymes version, it si just as nice.

  • Dear Betty sang this song better than anyone. Her kids may have gone thorugh a lot, but there is such a thing as forgiveness, I feel sorry for them if they never forgive her, they may need forgiveness God wants us to forgive and to love each other, this was their mother....

  • Very well said.

  • She sang this with such deep feeling...

it really touches my heart to listen.

  • This song, written by the great Frank Loesser, was the ballad that Betty wanted him to write for her. The two of them were a great team at Paramount that gave movie audiences many memorable moments; I will never tire from listening to this song.

  • Neither will I. Hutton was a big influence on my musical tastes. She had the habit of working wonders with melody and lyric, as she does here. This is mere singing; it's emotion! And what can you say about Frank Loesser!

  • Frank Loesser was a dynamic and versatile songwriter and Betty was dynamic and versatile as well. What a great hand of cards Fate held when the two of them conjoined for song!

  • First of all, let the correct the incorrect logic of my previous posting. Of course, I meant, "This is not mere..." Johnnynazz52, what hurt me at the end of the day was that none of Hutton's children attended her funeral. I've had plenty of family issues myself. So maybe that's the reason I felt Hutton's family condition so deeply. She was just a simple, nice -- albeit with psychological issues -- girl who could put away a song! Thanks a million, johnny...

  • You're welcome- I hope that things work out for you. In case anybody doesn't know, Betty has a very large family that loves her-those of us of whom are her fans!

  • "I Wish I Didn't Love You So" has been covered by many artists including Peggy Lee, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, and k.d. lang.
