Fun fact: For the 20th anniversary addition of Star Wars, George Lucas wanted to add more scenes of Oola's dancing. He was able to track down Femi Taylor, the actress/dancer who originally played Oola, to reprise her role after all those years!! I always thought that was kind of cool, especially since she managed to stay in great shape, even though she was older.

No, its a frog apparently kept in some kind of solution..eurrgh. Poor, gorgoeus. In the original concept, Oola escapes but they didn't have the time or money to shoot that sequence - sad. Femi Taylor is excellent as Oola.

Lyn me, Rystall, and Greeta were back up singers in the max Rebo band. Although the band did have a life contract, which obviously expired with the death of Jabba. So they weren't slaves :-)

Still, this would've worked, as "Lapti Nek" (put it on iTunes, for crying out loud) is miles above the terrible "Jedi Rocks," and the re-editing in the Special Edition of Jabba sending Oola into the Rancor pit was just horrific. Why her lines were unnecessarily redubbed during that scene is beyond me.

take a look at the graphics in the new terminator, star trek, and transformers movies. I'm pretty sure graphics like that would be a step up from the stuff in the special edition.

Mainly some of the puppets seem a bit stiff by modern standards. Though it is hard to make cgi fit smoothly with older movies.

The puppets have got a certain charm. CGI hasn't. Episodes IV, V and VI are brilliant, especially because of the plot and the atmosphere. Episodes I, II and III are horrible. Why? Because Lucas focussed too much on computer animation and visual spectacle instead of focussing on the plot. CGI is a curse. That's why - for example - directors like Christopher Nolan try to avoid it. So - in other words - this scene is great as it is. It can not be improved by CGI. They shouldn't even try.

There's just something really charming and warm about this song...Yes, it's very Rick James-y and funky for our time, but I'd like to thik that on other planets their music was more like early 80s disco music rather than goofy embarassing Jazz-rock music like the Special Edition.

Hell yeah, the original LAPTI NEK (not the album version, which is lame) is totally better than that embarassment "JEDI ROCKS"...if I had a choice, I would keep some changes in the RETURN OF THE JEDI, leave in this original dance sequence, and maybe keep the Oola's death scene, as it's sort of a nice touch.

I want to do a fan edit by taking the original cut of the film and picking original scenes I liked and re-made scenes I like, cut the two together into my ultimate version of the film.
