  • good lesson put a shirt on

  • He has a shitty combat position tbh... guess It's working as intended though :D.

  • This is not a good staff.

  • OMG! I'm getting a stick from a local housing store and start working immediately! You have just inspired me man, thanks!!

  • Nice exercises! I found some more here:

    bit. ly / proworkout

    Really good Program!

  • hey what kind of staff do you have?

  • put a fucking shirt on black man, no one wants to see your gay tattoos

  • I cannot take a man who can't properly wear pants, seriously.

Furthermore, the open hand twirl is fine, if you are doing some simple cardio. However, if you start twirling with open hands like that, I need only give that stick a slap and it goes flying from your hands.

P.s. Did Martha Stewart decorate this room?

  • @aedimus i cannot take a man seriously who wastes time typing about someones pants, idk if you just facinated with that general area or w/e, your sexual preference is your own, or maybe your from one of those Clothing shows on Tv, who knows. And when he explains cardio with people slapping you maybe you should explain the flying from the hands thing, but i dont see anyone else in the vid.

  • @Downy101DS You've found me out! I am from a clothing television show. And I am anti-stick. And I can't take a man seriously who wastes time typing about a man who wastes time typing about a man who can't wear pants properly. Let us be friends now! Together we can destroy silly pant-wearing people, rid the world of twirly sticks, and find a solution for making talking trees. Think on it, friend, and let me know!

  • Karate translates "empty or hollow hand" and implies no weapons. A bo is a stick or staff so bo staff is redundant. The technique is terrible, just another egotistic knucklehead pretending he knows something about martial arts. Why don't you people train in martial arts if you want to be proficient? Or, is that the issue?

  • @IEKUKATAKA You sir, are what we call an "Armchair Elitist" why are you here? Just to be a dick?

  • @MrRobiJay I am here because I can be and, yep, a dick in the face of want-to-bes, phonies and those that use the names of fine martial arts to support selfishness, delusion and western, fundamentally dishonest liberalsim. Elitist? If that means I don't agree with distortion of reality and martial the egotism that I see in this moron, yep to that too. Cute account name, green and purple hair no doubt?

  • @MrRobiJay I looked at your account site, sweetie. You would be very familiar with being a dick, that apparently is your reason for being on YouTube. I also find it humerous, given the content of your site, that you use the term "dick". Furthermore, you have no indication of martial knowledge included in your site therefore it appears to support the notion that it is you that is the dick as you remark without insight. Besides, you aren't old enough to know anything.

  • @IEKUKATAKA I don't know if you're still talking about me. I don't have a site, if by site you mean my youtube profile then you've managed to deduce an awful lot from the information there (incorrectly I might add). You assume too much, you have no intention of learning and I'm the one who doesn't know anything. I'm on youtube to learn, sometimes I get frustrated at seeing people like you who dis everything. I probably shouldn't bother, theres no point trying to help the ignorant.

  • @IEKUKATAKA PS: I don't have any knowledge of "martial arts" though I am well trained in the hand to hand combat techniques provided to me to keep my country safe. And, since I have a basic understanding of anatomy and physics, its not hard to figure out the dos and don'ts of swinging a stick.

  • i find it funny how he shows off by doing it right in front of a window where it can easily slip and break through lol.....nice though

  • nice work out i guess it only works if you gay....... lol not saying bo staffs are i <3 bo staffs but yea you should know wut i mean XD

  • OK, put on a shirt, stop stepping on your pants and improve your form. Your twirling is nice but you aren't holding it right or even doing the spins properly. Oh, and I know your kick wasn't really head hight, as it didn't extend all the way.

  • very helpfull i havee weak wrist i will do this

  • I've practiced TKD for a while and I searched how to use a staff on my own. I think it's a good video for nOObs like me XD, so thanks for sharing

  • lol now were able to slide on the pole... with our hands

  • sik build bro

  • Looks like a realy good start point for he Bo staff. Good video.

  • Get you in shape? If you put in any kind of strenght into bo staff spinning it means youre doing it wrong.

  • I'm sorry, could you repeat that, I was too busy watching your bi's, tri's and abs..................actually a really nice tutorial in staff work. Thanks a hunk! ....I mean...Thanks a bunch......

  • pesimo

  • I think it's pretty cool he is doing it shirtless, for purely artistic learning reasons of course. I'd like to see the same with the calves and knees visible so it's easier to see the legs position.

  • @ nitrotuber

    kill yourself

  • no u

  • Awesome! Thanks.

  • Get a heavier bo!

  • am sorry...am not racist but I have a question. Why do black people like to wear their pants in a sag...? it is highly unnecessary in a workout video like this and he look like he fumbling and dragging his pants underneath his feet. I don't think it's much of a fashion statement as well. Try a belt or tighten up them drawstrings. Not a bad vid but the saggy, drooping, draping baggy pants have to go....BROTHER...

  • that is not sagging...... kinda normal actually if you think thats sagging im sorry, but really its not at all

  • @nazarjuna stupid, im white i do it aswell

  • then ure trying too hard to be a brother....

  • "As you see. I am tightening up my abs." ~Workout video guy.

  • cool video

  • you have about 15-20 degrees of scoliosis...

  • Good control and everything seems fine but he kicks like a pussy xD

  • Comment removed

  • at 2:30 you might want to hold the staff in the middle and the beging thats how you spin somthing like a flag not a martial arts staff

  • Can you do a Karate wourkout video and upload it on youtube? It dosent need to be long 20min will do, just split them 10 min each on youtube, part 1 and 2. A light warm up, some punches, stances, kicks, blocks. That would be usefull. With some tempo of course so you can burn some fat.

  • yh your good

  • nice batton twirling

  • waste man, like to see you do that

  • @langton2 actualy I teach Kobudo.....so yes If I choose I can do his baton twirling work out, instead I teach Tsuken No Kon(Okinawan Bo Kata)

  • Pants on the ground, Pants on the ground, Lookin like a fool with your pants on the ground! Pullem Up!! We dont want to see your man panties!

  • you got a nice build on ya mate! i did this many many moons ago but i gotta get back into it, and i think i will now! cheers

  • Sorry....I tried to respect this video, dude but you gotta show MUUUCH more to teach "martial arts". By the way it's called KOBU DO.

If you trained kobu do in any moment of your life the only thing you'd never teach someone would be rotating the "bo" just like a ninja turtle. Attacks are simple and effetcive. Teach attacks next time, show the application for the kobu do katas (bunkai).

Greetings fra Brasil. Okinawa shorin ryu shin shu kan

  • @erikborgersen he is not trying to teach anyone a martial art in the video it is simply a fitness routine using a martial art weapon.

  • Yeah, that's what we presume after seen the black Jane Fonda video. But he says: I am going to teach you "martial arts" :D

    Hugs

  • what a remarkable martial art ! spinning bo like that !

wow that's impressive, and useful... thanks -_-'

  • Been doing these particular moves for years-Try it with a bo sized steel bar :P. Only weighs 5kg (3.5mm wall, 1" diameter). Burns nicely.

  • and right in the window :P

  • he made a lot of stick jokes. "could be long" "slide down the pole" maybe i just have a dirty mind.

  • THis has nothing to do with the vid but i came across the fella....i am above his comment....Another with the name D la CRuz...1 above the other...

  • Your instention of teaching is good, but first your must learned correct basics.

  • You're sick.....I was i could do it like you

  • come on now, give the man a credit....good job

  • jedna tlama černá ... neví co dělá a mluví

  • nicee but do u HAVEE 2 show ur bodyy??

  • i was thinking the same lol

  • does it make you uncomfortable, fag?

  • DID i say it makes me uncomfratable BITCH .. i jus sed do u HAVE 2 .. read it before u start crakin up

  • that reaction proves it, you're a fag. "why do you have to show your body? it makes me so hawt" hahaha fudge packer.

  • Its coz ur gay thats y..and ur mum is fag

  • very good video man, thanks!

  • Dude you're great don''t listen to those haters.

  • he may be gay, he may be wearing girl pants, but I guarantee he would fuck you haters out there up! Nice job Ian!

  • garbage and are you wearin some chick panties hahahaha

  • I wonder if he can handle my bo staff that well

  • .... that dont sound right O_o

  • mines not quite that long but I think it might be a tad thicker

  • i dont know with sounds worst ur first comment or this one lol 4get about it idc any more lmao

  • lol.....I knew someone was gonna have ah shaft, I mean "staff" joke!.........lmbo!

  • good for show

  • He's definitely not gay, and neither am I, but indeed, he does have style. Thanks for the workout tutorial, Ian, and nice tattoos :F

  • gay?

  • Is it a practice of baton twirling?

  • But on the other hand.... Its for cardio... still if u trying to teach it, make sure u do it right.

  • Yep thats what i said... hand under hand

  • This is not Krate

    This is dance

  • Hmm... I use hand-under-hand, not hand-over-hand.

  • you are awsome :D, this vid is awsome :D but I aint gonna learn this shit, cuz if i can do that, i will never use it

if you go hitting with sticks in a fight, then you go to jail :P and I train karate myself, but your not allowd to fight with sticks of course

  • Nice.

  • u are joking biatch ?

  • its hand under hand for more speed not over

  • Agreed.

That's how I do it too.

  • I wish I had room, or somewhere outside to practice.. D:

  • Karate is literally translated to the way of the empty hand...

  • karate do means that. Do = the way. karate is Empty Hand.

  • he needs to do some situps

  • why, how would that help his martial art

  • it protects his inner organs

    and it looks better

  • o,0 .... baka . :/

  • karate bo staff??????

there are no weapons in karate

  • That is not really true. Even though Karate means "empty hand" it also uses weapons in the so cold Arnis where you for example use sticks

  • this is basiic bo

  • YOU'RE MY MASTER !!!!

  • stupid

  • Comment removed

  • That's not the right way to spin a bo. He may know a thing or two about cardio, but he knows next to nothing about using a bo.

  • You're right.

  • im trained with a staff and he is correct

  • im stronger then him

  • donchu mean muscular?,,,unless u did a strenght test then yes,,,,

  • Very nice!!

  • the comments are actually hilarious.

  • Thanx! I used to think only white people looked ridiculous pretending to be asian.

  • yet, all three can kick your ass :\

    "STFU ON THE INTERNET"

    john:54

  • I realize there are people on the internet that talk out their asses, but that doesn't mean EVERYBODY on the internet talks out their ass. I am sure there are people on here, including myself, that are much better than this guy.

  • Can't believe the guy was serious ^^

  • you are hot!

  • I can do that. but without the staff.

  • Oh snap! That's exactly the same stuff I do, and what's more is that I taught myself that without knowing it's an actual technique. But anyway, nice example.

  • gay

  • Bo is pridy easy to learn.

Now, the morons who call this a stupid video and he cant fight in those pants or with the way he's doing it are idiots.

Its not like he's going to suddenly fight someone in this video.

He's demonstrating how to exercise with the Bo, not how to fight.

This guy is using a White Oak Bo, 6ft long. 21 bux and most common in martial arts. Dont just use any pole. Bo are big and thick and quite heavy.

  • Oak is pretty common for building strength and training, not as much when in competition or sparing.

Any staff would work for what he was doing, but if you try to hit the ground like a sholin monk does with a pine staff it will splinter.

Btw street fights don't wait for you to change pants, so train in the pants you commonly wear as that is what you will most likely be wearing if you get in a fight on the street.

  • What? No Bo are longer. Some at 5ft, 6ft and 6ft6.

    The size doesnt matter.

  • Nice workout, fun not really martial. The loose grip would mean the Bo flies out of your hand in any contact with incoming weapons but fun to do!

  • nice kick and great job.

  • So many critics its good for a workout as it says in the title ........i for one like it ....once you learn the basics which is essential then you can move on......i notice most of the asshole critics say they can do it better and he's doing this wrong and that wrong ...aint got a vid showing it!!!!! Nice vid im going to start trying it out CHEERS

  • YES! teach idiots how to twirl a broom stick! theyll hit their dad and say. "Youtube told me to do it!"

    haha XD

  • What are the demenshions of that staff? How much dose it weigh?

  • you can really just use any stick that looks similar. your best bet is to just head to your local hardware store and pick up a long broom stick and just cut off the screw part at the end. just be sure to take the sharp edges off afterward and you're good to go.

  • dude great video

  • im sorry kid, misure katara, but i doubt your that good, and btw, that "stick" is a hell of alot heavier than something you could use. and btw, even if you could wield that "stick" id be more afraid if he used it on me, than if you came at me with it.

  • impressive young padawan..

  • thing is i dont have a camera

  • that was really smooth.where can i get a staff from and how much does it cost?

  • ITs best to get a actual Bo staff and not just use Brooms or anything. Especially Pool Sticks.

Get Weapons from Martial Art supplies stores and the cheaper ones are 21 dollars. They're White Oak and very good and solid.

6ft onse are easier to use.

  • Broom sticks are perfect for someone want to practice on a budget. look up what a Jo staff is, similar to the Bo but shorter. There is no reason a staff has to be 6ft.

I would say get two weights of the same size, one heavy to get the strength and one light to work on technique and speed.

  • Oh ok nah you're right. I haven't used Jo before.

Brooms i find are alittle light for me and you dont build up the momentum for spinning techniques.

  • hes a freakin... NINJA!

  • UAUUUUUU; I'M VERY, VERY IMPRESSIVE, me quedé alucinado con este sensei.

  • UAUUUUUU, I'M VERY, VERY IMPRESSIVE, I was amazed with this sensei. Hand over hand, the technique mayorette fan, it's fantastic to kill flies, jajaja, no knowledge of the karate style, never seen a teacher and co shoes over wood parquet, and pants that are longer than the legs, ¿Have you seen this KOKUTSU Dachi ", the pants will be placed under the shoe to slide better, and that pair of YOKO GERI?, jaja, LARGE MASTER SCARE flies.

  • This guy sucks. This video is pointless. Doing that for cardio is a waste of time.

  • Where'd u get ur Bo staff I really want one!!

  • Hmm broom stick, pool "q", anything long, LOL.

  • make one?

  • i have been able to do that since i was about 5 years old n i can do more stuff than that

  • Not bad, not bad. He looks pretty buff, but anyone can do that stuff. I don't do karate and I can do much better

  • better do both hands and both sides for each work out and more time about 10mins each (i am studing sports)

  • Excellent routines to not only give you a good workout, but also increase your weapon handling skills

  • ....i do, and on my palm and around my neck... XD

  • Well its a very nice video but for those poeple reading this >_> well i gotta say im disappoint in poeple for now know that martial arts has been an extensive way for poeple to workout and not only for fighting >_>

Morris nice bo spinning but i bet you don't know how to spin the bow all around your body O_O like i do XD

    P.S sorry for spaming/braging

  • You do realise that most - if not all versions of martial arts is based around (or a derivative of) Shaolin Kung Fu, whereas the monks would trains in the "fighting" aspect but never use it. They trained to keep fit and healthy, not so they could fight.

So you could say, most - if not all martial arts are based around the concept of working out, rather than fighting.

  • agree

  • Not true.

  • Shaolin Kung Fu is a great leader of kung fu currnetly but i disagree to the fact that alot of martial arts are based around a derivative of shaolin kung fu. Also i am a shaolin student so i am able to judge myself and my fellow fallowers of the shaolin monastary of our skills in martial arts.

  • lol well here is my quote,

"it does not matter if you win or lose in a fight, it is how and why you are fighting"

  • your pants are soo long your gonna trip yourself while fighting and LOOSE

  • hey where did u get ur bo staff from

  • nice

    5/5

  • lol gawd damn, if i'd try that at home i have a feeling it would end up with alot of broken windows, furniture and bruises. i can do it slowly but not fast like he does it. (<---lol thats what she said XD)

  • Actually, it's not that hard to get the speed. All you have to do is go to the local hardware store and get yourself a nice light piece of downling. Then start spinning it around. All those things he was doing are very simple tricks learned as warm up exercises.

  • im more intrested on how he build up his body. i like that slim and bulky muscles look

  • it's called training :P

  • stop hatin

  • oh jesus... i'd love to see a highlight reel of all the assholes who are going to bang themselves in the back of the head trying this.

  • WOW!! that is so cool. Does it take long to learn???

  • it's actually quite easy to learn. just get yourself a staff and some space and you'll see very quick progress. It's not quite staff-fighting, but it's fun and will indeed give a nice workout. Enjoy

  • that was nice man! so nice ! cool man!

  • he is useless

  • kewl

  • this guy knows nothing about bo-jutsu

  • i Bet this guy kicks your ass

  • He said right at the beginning that he was showing the use for cardio exercise, not combat.

  • take on a sweather...i bet the girls like it. But there aren't so many girls training this I think...

  • you'd be amazed how many girls train martial arts :)

  • Your right man, my Kyoku group is made from 20 people, and we got more than a 5 girls ;-)

  • yeah!! >:)

(and he can leave his shirt off all he wants) lol

  • always when you are doing figure 8's keep your left hand near your face so you don't have a injury that you will regret

  • an ideal jo staff is supose to be 3 or 4 inches higher than your head its no good if your 5'3 and its 6 foot lol

  • no...a jo is shorter than a bo....

  • jo is 4.18 foot long... a bo is 5.96... so a bo should be longer then what you have said and a jo should be shorter then your hight, unless you are very short.

  • Is that spinning capable of being used in combat? The locking wrist to wrist one. The other spinning techniques I picked up off here are hard as hell. The stick flys out of my hands man.
