@Roger5970 On offense, sure. Playing at home sure. A lot of things factor into statistics as well. The 49ers and Saints didn't play all the same teams during the regular season. The 49ers also won more games against NFC teams/common opponents which is why they were the #2 seed. They statistically had a better defense and special teams as well. They sent more players to the Pro Bowl. We can compare stats all day but what matters most is winning games.

You say "all they need is defense" like it's an easy thing. They're definitely a Superbowl caliber team but this game showed they could be beat.

A lot of those field goals/missed opportunities may have been touchdowns. I think Alex Smith can still get better under Harbaugh but Brees is no doubt in a different class.
