I just bought IoB starter pack, after a decade of warhammer break, and i really enjoyed this guide, in terms of how to expand my (brand new) high elf collection. Thanks! And keep it coming, if you can.
Sea guard are one of the best defensive units in the game. Any unit that can combine missile capability with infantry ranks has my vote. Put these guys on a hill or have them grab a choice piece of terrain and they can harass the enemy the rest of the game. I fear the GW will kill this troop type as it does with many equipment selections and points of diversity throughout army selections.
I like the idea of sea guard, they just cost too much. I'd rather take a specialized unit of bowmen or a bigger unit of spear elves in most cases for the points...
Now if only Ellyrian Reavers were a core choice...
when fighting other asf troops (such as undead troops that receive asf from miasma of deathly vigour etc), it helps as it then goes down to initiative order.
Since repainting them I'm leaning toward mixing these with my archers and creating units of LSG. I'll let you know why LSG in a later video, but I have some specific reasoning behind this. So getting to the point LSG don't come with shields as standard, and I don't wanna blow the points giving them shields.
personnaly, if the army your fighting is strength 4 or more, then dont get shields, because you will have armor save sof 6. but if it is a strength 3 army(skaven ,undead, goblins) and others, then take them, trust me. You DONT want to loose your advantage of a 7man frontage with 22 attacks to the front!!!
if you are going for the 7x3 then I'm all for the shields, but I've got a specific job for the seaguard and this one doesn't involve them having shields :)
I also tend to not build armies against specific enemies, I prefer building "all-comers" lists
What I find good is to get a large group of 50, with all of them able to attack, becuase horde rule, having spears, and martial prowness.

I like the red and white look. I'm sick of seeing high elves always being blue!

how do you get your high elves to look so good? mine have many black spots after painting. do u think it could be from a bad primer?
SpyderKM 1 year ago
@SpyderKM Thank you for the compliment, I'm not sure what you mean by black spots?
milodotnet 1 year ago
@milodotnet well i think my mistake was using a black primer...... there are many black spots that i cant cover

Nice review. Althoug how does initiative 5 help the spearmen when they have ASF anyway? :)

Ghettonerd101 2 years ago
There's a couple of ways of giving units asf.

@SocialistJavisst
Some enemies can have always strike first from magic banners, eg. dark elves
