Music doesn't seem like much fun now- angry, dubbed endlessly, fewer real musicians playing real music- by that I mean real guys playing real drums and real rythym- not machine made. Good memories- hope the young folk today have as many good times as we did-
The great thing about YT is how it reminds me how many hits groups like the Chiffons had. I think bs revisionist history led me to believe that they were part of some industry hit making machine and ended up as "one hit wonders." Obviously, this wasn't the case.
Here's a place in time that society forgot. When music was cool, groovy & innocent. Lyrics were clean and people were pure and unspoiled. Unlike today how media serves our kids a bunch of FILTH where lyrics of gang-sta rap & hip-hop are full of profanity, recording artists are horny sexual beings portrayed in videos & pop stars are admired for getting in trouble with the law - WHAT kind of CRAP is that ?? Just citing how societal erosion is deteriorating the very fabric that holds us 2-gether.
Oh dear!!! Sorry to hear that. May she rest in peace. Both my Grandmothers have passed, and I still remember their counsel, and how much of them is in me...this song was among their favories also.
Wow! Great gals. Didn't we have FUN listening to this music? Dancing, roller skating, hanging out. Putting those little gizmos in the 45's to play them on the spidle record changers. Sock hops in the school gum- and Line dances in your socks at high school auditorium during lunch- t shirts and tight jeans and pickle stabber shoes and greased back hair with the spit curl and a rat tail comb in your back pocket.
Do kids today have fun listening to what passes for music? Don't think so.
Too bad they don't make music like this anymore. We need sluts and hoes to make music now days. I think that is what the difference is, people in those days had better morals.
Just finished my Sophmore Year in H.S. and during the summer, this one girl taugh me the LOCOMOTION DAANCE,,,dammm she was hot too. Such great memories during that decade. Fast cars, great music and a lost era. Thanks to many of the great artist when growing up in Detroit
hmm but wasnt the locomotion originally sung by little eva? i love the locomotion.. I like 60's old school music..it sounds so..REAL.PURE, UNTOUCHED.. hahah
hmm but wasnt the locomotion originally sung by little eva? i love the locomotion.. I like 60's old school music..it sounds so..REAL.PURE, UNTOUCHED.. hahah
This is truly good music where people could really sing. The Chiffons are one of my favorite groups and I didn't even grow up in the 60s, I grew up in the 80s. I think the 50s and 60s were the greatest years in music especially for for R&B, Doo Wop and Rock 'n Roll.
@godlovesudoulovehim : Sorry about your Grandmother , but look at it this way , now she is feeling good and rocking in heaven...I believe that any music that is clean and makes you feel good has got to be there also....I am a grandfather and still Rocking and Rolling....Rock on , the old Rock is still the best
Interesting notes here -- the pianist makes a mistake near the first break, the ending vocals are muddled, and the lead vocalist carries the final word of each line out. Every cover of this song has very interesting characteristics about it, including the instrumentation.
Ironically, Little Eva originally recorded ONE FINE DAY, written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin (Eva was Louise Goffin's babysitter). Eva's vocals were removed and replaced by the Chiffons, thus giving them their second Top 10 hit in 1963.
