People only hate Emo/Scene because they don't understand it. Emo/Scene people are only that way because they don't understand the world. The world isn't understood because we have too many possessions. We need to fall back and look at our universe. We are small but to darken your soul is to darken the world. But I didn't dress like this. And believe me, it's not punishing at all to be happy, happy isn't equal to being "brainwashed" either.
