This particular method does not work exactly. The PS3 has a different RNG than the PS2 so it uses a different sheet of numbers and patterns. I don't think anyone has figured out how those are yet. Sorry. :(

My charts? Only charts I had were experimental for the PS3. FF12GM's pointer system is the way you should be going about it. The guide that says "UPDATED".

Each time you hit yourself you are moving the RNG a small increment. When it reaches a certain point, the Zodiac Spear (or any rare item) will be in the chest.) See the guide in the description for a more detailed explanation.

This was just the only video I recorded of it but it took me around 50 hours and ~700 runs to the chest to get all 99. I recorded the last 500 or so runs to the chests in the documents in the description as well.

There is a full guide in the description of the video. In short, yes PS2 is the easiest to get this done. When you reset the PS2 it's RNG (Random Number Generator) resets as well. So after resetting a PS2 you want to get to the chest that has the rare item you want, in this case the Zodiac Spear, while getting hit as few of times as you can. Then hitting yourself without causing damage slowly moves the RNG until you can get the random number that guarantees a Zodiac Spear.

I think making a video about it, you could of explained more somewhere, in the video or in the description. It would of been nicer than having to go to another video just to know what you were doing here. Thats all I'm saying.
The purpose of the video was to show getting 99 of them was possible using FF12GM's method that he posted on FFTogether. It was not meant to be a tutorial..neither are my other Perfecter videos. The point of them is to show progress into getting as many maxed items as possible.

If you don't have the Brawler license then yes. If you do have the Brawler license you will need the Cameo Belt and a shield equipped to keep the damage you are doing to yourself down to 0. If that's the case you don't have to worry as you can use the Bubblebelt equipped up until the chest then change to the Cameo Belt when you get there since no enemies will spawn there.

@Mike65707 thanks, I only have 3 or 4 espers now. And how do you do that technique where you hit yourself, but it doesn't hurt you? Every time I've tried that, it takes away an ass of hit points (as I'm at level 99 with all my characters).
It means you have the Brawler license which boosts barehand strength. So you need to equip a shield to circumvent the license. However, you also need to wear the Cameo Belt so you no longer shield block yourself because that affects the RNG too.
So in short: Wear a shield and wear Cameo Belt. Instant 0s :)
You can use the method I used to find my number. Do 5-10 runs without hitting yourself, then 5-10 runs hitting yourself once, then 5-10 runs hitting yourself twice etc.
You shouldn't have to hit yourself more than 4 times I think.

With accessory yes but you would have to use Bubble Magic. The max a character's HP can get without it varies but it's around 5-6k.
As for the medallion..it's been awhile since I did that quest. But there are four pieces, not three: One in the Lowtown Sewers, one from a woman's necklace mini-quest in Rabanastre, one in Old Archades, and the final one at the Shrine in Nabreus Deadlands.

Nope it's just a random increase that of course goes up as your level gets higher. For instance Flak76e got Vaan to Perfect HP and MP but it took him many many MANY resets.

Have no weapon equipped, a shield, and the Cameo Belt accessory. You will do 0 damage.
As for knowing if the RNG is working..you really need the lists of pointers to make sure it's right. They are in the third link in my video's description.
Means you have a weapon equipped? You can have a weapon on. Read the guide linked to in the description in this vid. It explains everything you need to know much better than this video can show by itself.

Yes it is quite awesome. :D In order to get it you need to be Ward of Justice rank in Clan Centurio. That's only 12 hunts..well worth the effort IMO. Then Bubble is sold at the Muthru Bazaar in Rabanastre
You can buy Bubble Belts from the Clan Provisioner at 16 marks completed...but there are more important accessories (unless you are fighting the final few Elite marks).
I recommend just setting a gambit to Self > Bubble for everyone. Also since Bubble doubles your HP you essentially healing yourself for half of your max HP every time you use it. A nice added effect
@Mike65707 I guess that would work except for the times I'm trying to save MP for Quickening combos and stuff... That and I need to get everyone to learn that spell o.o Most people have over 1000 LP atm so I think that shouldn't be a problem.
Once you get further in the License Board you will have no problem with MP trust me.
You'll get the licenses:
Inquisitor: Recover MP when dealing Physical Damage
Warmage: Recover MP when dealing Magic Damage
Headman: Recover MP when killing an Enemy
Martyr: Recover MP when taking damage
With all these licenses on everyone you'll be gaining more MP than you use easily. Google the license board if you want to find where on the board these are. They are actually pretty early on.
If you do not have the Brawler license then you are good to go, as hitting yourself will always cause 0 damage as long as you have armor on.
If you do have the Brawler license then you need to equip a shield and the accessory Cameo Belt. The shield stops you from being barehanded (basically it negates the Brawler license), and the Cameo Belt makes it so you never block yourself with the shield.

You have to Immobilize or stop another party member then run far enough away where that member can't see your leader. Then when an enemy gets near quickly switch to the Immobilized character and back again. The monsters will now be gone. ^^

I just want to know if we open the chest and then the zodiak spear doesnt apears do we need back to the load? is it necessary or we can get out the henne mines back once again and try the chest respaw so we can get it. You ALWAYS need to reset the PS2 every time the chest doesn't spawn or you open a chest. Read FF12GM's guide in the description of this video. It'll explain how to get a Zodiac spear every time the chest spawns.

You got lucky. :o If you hit yourself twice and got the 5 hit combo that means you not only got to the chest while being on a proper RNG list, but you got to the chest literally one more hit away from going past the 5 hit combo and not being able to get a spear. XP
@Mike65707 yeah!! :D look today I was just increassing the lv of my characters in the henne mines and then I saw ops the chest is there once again. I tryed did the same thing thinking that I could do that again afff of course I failed. I have 100% of sure now that RNG mode works you just have to make sure you dont make anything different that you must to do. wow this is crazy you know O.o its like you cheat the video game LOL

I'm doing the Immobilize trick. You switch to an immobilized partner and switch back and poof, all enemies on screen are gone. You NEED to do this to get to the chest un-hit.
Sorry for the Disrurbance i found the diamond armlet but when i go to the chest your way dosnt work it didnt give me 5 hit combo only 4 hit and 2hit no 5 hit
Read FF12GM's guide linked to in the description of this video. You can't just keep hitting yourself till you get the 5 hit combo (unless your lucky). But using his guide you can get a rare item from a chest almost every time it spawns.
I have a problem, when i hit my self i get blocked by the shield and when i remove the shield and attack my self my HP decreases. How can i hit my self without effecting my HP.
one more question... here in your video you used Curaga to fix the "non-patterned" combination of hit and combos... I could use Curaga to fix ANY "non-patterned" combination, or just that specifically?
I just cant get it :( It turns out to be that Penelo is the one without Brawler, so I use her and Fran. I go out to the Ore Separation and I hit myself twice (or I save and then I hit myself once, like you do). Then I enter Phase 2 Dig. I take out Fran, cast Immobilize, and then I keep going with Penelo using the Glitch... but when I arrive to the chest location, it is never there... could you remark what I'm doing wrong? :S Or the problem is just the model of my PlayStation?
Why'd you only hit yourself only once? Aren't you supposed to hit twice? Also, I keep trying to do this, but the chest won't appear. Is that the 10% Spawn rate again, or is it with my model? Idk what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's a fat US version.
@cocke46 depends on what model of ps2 you're using.. if its a SPCH 30001 R like mine(yes it's still working) you have to hit yourself 3 times before entering the area with the zodiac spear..

It is a rare spawn rate so you just have to keep resetting until it finally shows up.

As for the medallion..it's been awhile since I did that quest. But there are four pieces, not three: One in the Lowtown Sewers, one from a woman's necklace mini-quest in Rabanastre, one in Old Archades, and the final one at the Shrine in Nabreus Deadlands.

Nope it's just a random increase that of course goes up as your level gets higher. For instance Flak76e got Vaan to Perfect HP and MP but it took him many many MANY resets.

Have no weapon equipped, a shield, and the Cameo Belt accessory. You will do 0 damage.
As for knowing if the RNG is working..you really need the lists of pointers to make sure it's right. They are in the third link in my video's description.

Don't worry about it. Getting hit by them once is pretty hard to avoid, but it doesn't move the RNG that much.

Even if a good spawn number the chest is still very rare..like 1 in 8 tries. Just keep resetting until it spawns.

Yes it is quite awesome. :D In order to get it you need to be Ward of Justice rank in Clan Centurio. That's only 12 hunts..well worth the effort IMO. Then Bubble is sold at the Muthru Bazaar in Rabanastre

You can buy Bubble Belts from the Clan Provisioner at 16 marks completed...but there are more important accessories (unless you are fighting the final few Elite marks).
I recommend just setting a gambit to Self > Bubble for everyone. Also since Bubble doubles your HP you essentially healing yourself for half of your max HP every time you use it. A nice added effect

Once you get further in the License Board you will have no problem with MP trust me.
You'll get the licenses:
Inquisitor: Recover MP when dealing Physical Damage
Warmage: Recover MP when dealing Magic Damage
Headman: Recover MP when killing an Enemy
Martyr: Recover MP when taking damage
With all these licenses on everyone you'll be gaining more MP than you use easily. Google the license board if you want to find where on the board these are. They are actually pretty early on.

If you do not have the Brawler license then you are good to go, as hitting yourself will always cause 0 damage as long as you have armor on.
If you do have the Brawler license then you need to equip a shield and the accessory Cameo Belt. The shield stops you from being barehanded (basically it negates the Brawler license), and the Cameo Belt makes it so you never block yourself with the shield.

You have to Immobilize or stop another party member then run far enough away where that member can't see your leader. Then when an enemy gets near quickly switch to the Immobilized character and back again. The monsters will now be gone. ^^

HELP ME!!! please :). I want to know somethings. First, your video helps a lot!! I just want to know if we open the chest and then the zodiak spear doesnt apears do we need back to the load? is it necessary or we can get out the henne mines back once again and try the chest respaw so we can get it. You ALWAYS need to reset the PS2 every time the chest doesn't spawn or you open a chest. Read FF12GM's guide in the description of this video. It'll explain how to get a Zodiac spear every time the chest spawns.

You got lucky. :o If you hit yourself twice and got the 5 hit combo that means you not only got to the chest while being on a proper RNG list, but you got to the chest literally one more hit away from going past the 5 hit combo and not being able to get a spear. XP

I tryed did the same thing thinking that I could do that again afff of course I failed. I have 100% of sure now that RNG mode works you just have to make sure you dont make anything different that you must to do. wow this is crazy you know O.o its like you cheat the video game LOL

It's still a rare spawning chest.
I'm doing the Immobilize trick. You switch to an immobilized partner and switch back and poof, all enemies on screen are gone. You NEED to do this to get to the chest un-hit.

Read FF12GM's guide linked to in the description of this video. You can't just keep hitting yourself till you get the 5 hit combo (unless your lucky). But using his guide you can get a rare item from a chest almost every time it spawns.

The accessory Cameo Belt makes your attacks unblockable. Just make sure you switch it with the Diamond Armlet before opening the chest.

Yes as long as the RNG hadn't moved too much. However, that was with the old method.
Read FF12GM's guide in the description and it will show you when to use Cure (ra/raga)
With his new pointer method anytime you can get a chest to spawn without taking too much damage getting to it you are pretty much guaranteed an item.

I just cant get it :( It turns out to be that Penelo is the one without Brawler, so I use her and Fran. I go out to the Ore Separation and I hit myself twice (or I save and then I hit myself once, like you do). Then I enter Phase 2 Dig. I take out Fran, cast Immobilize, and then I keep going with Penelo using the Glitch... but when I arrive to the chest location, it is never there... could you remark what I'm doing wrong? :S Or the problem is just the model of my PlayStation?

Every model has a different "spawn number" (The reason for hitting yourself before entering the room) Saving before going isn't needed.
Other than that it's just luck. Even getting a good spawn number only brings the chance of spawning to 30 or so percent.
My method for figuring it out: Hit yourself 0 times and go to the chest 5 times.
Then hit yourself 1 time and go to the chest 5 times.
Then twice...then three times. Whichever one spawns the chest is most likely your spawn num

Why'd you only hit yourself only once? Aren't you supposed to hit twice? Also, I keep trying to do this, but the chest won't appear. Is that the 10% Spawn rate again, or is it with my model? Idk what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's a fat US version.

Trick? It's not really a trick, more of just knowing how the game chooses what item will spawn.
If you follow the directions in FF12GM's guide you will always get a spear when the chest spawns.
