@PowerOfStrings As far as I know, it is compatible with any program that supports VSTs (PCs) or AUs (Mac). I am not a Windows person... I believe there is a MachFive forum at the Motunation com website.
I play guitar and I'm going to start learning piano/keyboard. I have a mac with garage band, so do you think I would be better with a USB keyboard controller (like this) or something like a Yamaha YPT210 beginner keyboard? I prefer to start on good quality stuff rather than buy cheap stuff and then keep replacing it, but I know NOTHING about keyboards so I'm really in need of help.
omg the 12 string is the best ever I've heard from a sampler any other programs/plugins that emulate a 12 string that well without paying that much cash?
Hey, great video! Please, do you know where I can buy MatchFive? I went on MOTU's website and could only find upgrades... Not the original sofware. Thanks and keep rockin'! :)
Keep in mind that MachFive is a legit full-featured sampler. It can import sounds in virtually every sample format. I've bought inexpensive sample libraries on CD and easily imported them into MachFive.
Great demo as usual man! What are your thoughts on that controller you're using? There are so many mixed emotions about those units. The most common thing I hear is inconsistent velocity between the black and white keys.
Thanks. Generally, I find all of these cheap MIDI controllers to be mediocre at best. I could easily use my Motif or Prophet 08 keyboards to play these software instrument demos, but that tends to confuse people who aren't sure what they're watching/hearing. Bottom line - I really only have these M-Audio keyboards to make videos with.
MachFive 2 comes with a MASSIVE grand piano sample that sounds better than what is demoed here. It's so big, though, that my Mac has trouble playing it while also recording audio and video. I probably should get some more RAM. Otherwise, I may try to make a video of it using my Macbook to run MachFive and my iMac to make the video.
The MachFive sample set has a LONG way to go before it could replace the Motif. These are some of the better patches - some of them are quite weak.
Ah, ok. Well, i am getting a Yamaha Motif ES7 or MO6 soon. I thought for a moment that this software could be an alternative...but i see...theres no way around a good ol´ workstation. :-D
tht was great playing . wish i could record with yoiu 1 day. wow goooo buddy. good job well play.

What hardware are you using?
What computer (CPU, RAM, operating system etc.) and what outboard sound card?
I just can't seem to make my soft samplers work properly; CPU keeps getting overloaded, cracks, pops etc... :(
thanks!
pinkola72 2 years ago
I am using a 2.4 ghz Intel core 2 duo 24" iMac with 2GB RAM. For a "soundcard" I am using an inexpensive stereo USB audio interface from M-Audio.

It's improvised, but basically just E - Amaj7 a couple of times, and then F/G/F/G/F/G/A. Not much to it. :)

The sound library that comes with MachFive includes lots of drums (acoustic and electronic), as well as miscellaneous percussion.

How much does the MachFive 2 retail at anyway?

It's software. About $450.
keybdwizrd 2 years ago
Ouch. That's Omnisphere grade pricing. I'll stick with my NI-powered softsynths for now.

And? Is MachFive 2 an alternative for your Motif?
