dude putting gunpowder in a blender isn't dangerous ethier, besides, gun powder isn't even classified as a moderate explosive. it only burns at around like 1000 m/s. lol octanitrocubane is like 10,100. though, if you had a mixture with chlorates...then DEFINITELY don't put it in a blender.

WTF? First of all, blade milling black powder in anything but a blade mill made for the task if completely fucktarded. Black powder has ignited from kiddies making it in blenders and coffee grinders, and it will do it again. Second of all, 1000m/s is almost three times the speed of sound, that's a detonation. Flash powder doesn't burn nearly that fast. Bp burns at about 400 ft/s. Also "moderate explosives" don't exist, its a made up term, a detonation front either propagates, or it does not.

I just used that term to stress how low bp is compared to like thousands of other stuff. However, i do think you're overreacting over bp. @JDKMM7 No it will not make less smoke on any visual sort of level, as potassium chlorate is commonly used in smoke grenades in the military for signaling smoke. It makes a slower burning powder obviously, so I wouldn't bother, but if you STILL want to try, for fuck sake DO NOT add the sulfur for any reason...Potassium chlorate reacts violently to the trace amounts of sulfuric acid in the sulfur mixture which will cause it to go up in flames, which means you lose your eyebrows...

A lot of low explosives ie: "propellants" are are heated during making to speed up the process. Not saying it is the best method or the safest... I would not make any this stuff in large batches maybe something like 10grams or below.

i make excellent bp with just charcoal and kno3 in a 30/70 ratio. be sure to granulate it with a seive.

cool. here is the method i use:

1. weigh 70g potassuim nitrate and 30g charcoal

2. grind charcoal in a pestle and mortar until really fine (same with kno3 but seperately)

3. dissolve about a third of the kno3 in boiling water (enough boiling water to saturate)

4. add the charcoal and remaining kno3 to the solution.

5. pour sludge onto a baking tray and put under grill on low heat until you have a pasty consistancy (water will evaporate quickly as it's a plack mixture) .....

6. not necessary but helps: add about 10ml 'rubbing alcohol' (which makes any water come out of pores in charcoal and be replaced by dissolved kno3)

7. leave to dry naturally until quite firm but still quite wet to granulate.

8. granulate through a seive onto a dry surface/ tray/ paper and allow to dry naturally.

blackpowder using sugar is actually less sensitive that bp with sulfur, look up sulfur/mg compositions...thats a rly touchy flash powder. but where is the oxidizer? S is not. Mg is not. a hammer will not ignite this even hitting it as hard as you can, if anything a spark may fly from hitting the hammer on a metal object but the composition is not touchy

...I don't know where you get your info from, but sulfur actually reduces the amount of gas products produced due to the formation of sulfides and sulfates, which are solids, as for burning in a closed area, I'm not sure, but sulfur definately makes BP burn faster under normal circumstances, perhaps you could upload a video comparing the two?

So the volume of gas and thus potential pressure within the casing is very similar for both comps.

And yes, sulfur does increase the rate of reaction at both atmospheric pressure and above due to its lower activation energy and lower ignition temperature than charcoal.
