Okay nothing against Michael Moriarty, but I love David Ogden Stiers much better. What is that with MM's voice, it's so hard to understand? And isn't the mom a different actress then in the second version too? I should check, but she looks different.

Yeah, David Ogden Stiers brings a certain dignity that Mr. Moriarty seems to lack with this character. He is also kid of creepy.
