In these 'other countries' - China, for instance, there's already a total redistribution of wealth - so, very little charity. There's a great deal of charity in, for instance, India, where people enjoy a greater deal of economic freedom.

There are many countries who can't afford to give any money at all because of their current regime and total poverty they face. The US and countries fortunate like them are privilieged to be fortunate enough to have spare money to donate.

They're both collectivist philosophies, both variants on Socialism. They both condone unlimited govt. control, the use of force on the citizenry, a minimum of personal freedom, and no individual rights for citizens. Both Communism and Fascism result in you, the individual, being sacrificed to the state. I've done LOTS of homework. 'Left vs Right wing' is a lie. The real opposition is Liberty versus Statism, and Communism and Fascism are Statist ideas. I like individualism and personal freedom.

Seriously, they might have fought in WWII, but sit down and compare the philosophies as to what the function of government is, what the role of the citizen is, control of means of production (by elites in both cases, communism says the people should control production, but that never happens - whoever has the most guns does), the function of Capital, and the philosophical basis of both ideas - you'll find that the differences are cosmetic, at best. That's the way that any type of collectivist socioeconomic works. Collectivism denies and assaults every basic social and material need of individual men and women, and results in nothing but tyranny and destruction. Utopia will never happen. It can't. Your idea of Utopia is different from mine, and hell, a family of four can't even agree on what's for dinner. So, why not simply let people be as free as possible, make their own choices, live their lives as they wish and deal with whom they wish?

Well.. I don't know if 'corrupt' is the right term. Check it out, in the USSR, a doctor or a nuclear physicist made the same as a broom pusher. That's hardly fair. A doctor or a scientist has to work a lot harder to get to that profession. A man has to be rewarded for his work. There will always be classes. What differs is how they get there - meritocracy, or brutality. I prefer meritocracy, which is what happens with real free markets, with free people.

You know, I've been a broom pusher before, and now, I work in a field that did require some college, some portfolio building and some skill development, and I deserve far more pay doing what I do now than I did when I was waxing floors. It's hardly bullshit. The standard of living that we enjoy now is due to the effort of man's mind, not muscular motions. Even the food you eat requires some level of skill to produce. The root of industry is man's mind, and should be rewarded in kind.

That's nonsense. Liberty means that if you want to help, no one should be able to stop you, and if you don't want to help, no one should be able to force you. It means that people are free to make what contracts they will between one another. I fend for myself, and do just fine - so, should a cause arise that I find donation worthy, I give to it. It's my money. I'll hand it out if I want to! Now, when I take YOUR money and give it out, then there's a problem.

I'm quite aware. I also really dig a non-interventionist foreign policy, and realize that there's precious little I can do about conditions in other lands. Forgive my being focused on America, but if Liberty dies here than it's gone for good. In these 'other countries' - China, for instance, there's already a total redistribution of wealth - so, very little charity. There's a great deal of charity in, for instance, India, where people enjoy a greater deal of economic freedom.

America has been and still is the most charitable country on Earth, per capita. Of course there's charity in a meritocracy, and when there's less government telling people how to live and redistributing wealth, the more charitable people are. I donate to the Salvation Army and to Cancer research, myself.
