Most any muffler shop will have the parts to do this swap
Keep watching YouTube for differant results and pick your favorite.
It's been 3 years since doing this muffler swap and I'm still very happy with the looks an the sound, the lower restriction just seems to work (as does the 3.73 rear end swap I did at the same time) as it just doesn't seem to work very hard to do it's job. My TB now has over 134,000 miles.
What about in-cab drone from the MF SUV muff....is it very noticeable on the Trailblazer? I've been thinking of this muff on my '03. Thanks for the vid/sound clip.
Cut the Resinator off first and put a tip on it... alot of people like that sound alot...and its a cheap mod if you pay someone.. I paid 45 and i was told that was alot
I think it's getting rid of the resonator that did the trick. Adding the Magnaflow certainly didn't hurt either! I have heard some AWESOME exhaust tones (for a 6 cyl.) when they went to catback duals
If you have a V8 and want more performance, get a low restriction exhaust system, but with these computer-controlled ignition & engine monitoring systems, be prepared to possibly adjust or "reflash" the vehicle's computer.
If you just want a better exhaust tone, swap-out the muffler and keep the rest of the factory piping, it's all generally good quality stuff.
What does the resonator do anyways? And will the TB pass inspection if it is cut out? And how about the muffler, will that pass inspection without it?
I've done at least a couple smog checks since doing this swap and there's never been an issue, volume-wise or smog-wise. The reso DOES reduce sound in the cabin a little, It kills-off the exhaust tone so that the interior is "passenger car" quiet, but to a car enthusiast, it's pointless.
hey that sounds really nice, what year is that because i cant find a singe exit exhaust for my 04 tb and i want to get one and get rid or the resinator can u help me here
I can't recall the part number, but your muffler shop should know - tell them it's Magnaflow's SUV muffler. I've had this one for a year now & I'm very happy with it.
I also completely ditched the resonator, as you can see, and replaced it with a nice chrome tip :)
Wow, that sounds amazing. I was thinking on trashing my stock muffler too, and i think your video sounds the best on all the trailblazer (non SS of course) muffler changes. Now i have a question, what kind of magnaflow muffler is that?

I also swapped-out the 3.42 gears with 3.73's - It made a HUGE differance! she's much happier with 3.73's - no question.
I probably won't do much towing or anything, so i was wondering what the difference was for just plain driving? and how hard and how much is it to swap the gears out?
I had the gear swap done professionally, along with other items (like the exhaust system) but I imagine the swap is like $300.
VERY well worth it, and I'm not talking just towing, but everyday driving is just better with the 3.73's gas mileage differance was unnoticeable. Make sure to re-calibrate your speedo, or just keep in mind that it will be a little bit off when you swap the gears.

All we did was cut-off the resonator & weld-on a chrome tailpipe, with, as the video shows, a slight "S" shape to keep the tailpipe off the ground.

can you take a video of the underneath so i can see the set up you got?

Sorry, I don't recall the part number, it's just Magnaflow's "SUV" muffler.

Good sounding exhaust! Would you happen tp have a part number for the specific Magnaflow Muffler you used? I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Those are Michelin P245-65's on 17" wheels by MB Motoring (Discount Tire Co. house brand) They ride smooth, look nice and the tires really last.

Sounds and looks great.
What size are your rims and tires? They look very good.

I get a little drone in the cabin, but we got used to it pretty quick, there's only a narrow range in the RPM where it shows up.
musicshuttle 2 years ago
alot better than the dual exhaust i put on mine, was an offbrand, you get a drone from 600-2800 rpms that is horrible.
magnaflow soon!

Is it the tip that makes that beautiful tone or is it the entire kit?
CoastlRaidr 2 years ago
Just a chrome tip in stock on display at the muffler shop.

What kind of tip is it?

in order to have a great sounding truck is it ok to just buy the muffler or would i have to buy the whole exhaust kit?

I like it. There's a little more exhaust tone in the cabin, but nothing negative.
Getting rid of that ugly resonator was the big plus! She looks sooooooo much better without it.

My Bravada has neither a resonator or muffler it's just loud as fuck anyway good to see more performance minded people on here

Thanks! I've enjoyed modding my TB, it makes her somewhat unique in a world filled with 4 door white SUV's! LOL

cool, my bravada does not have a resonator either, just a ractive 3" exhaust and a 6" tip, it's a good idea
