@GrayxMoth Good god man don't you listen to her songs?? She has a great low register that's why she is a lyric soprano. If anything might be lacking in her voice it's her high register. Sarah Brightman can sing higher than Tarja. Tarja has a far more dramatic voice though. She sends shivers up and down my spine when she hit her high notes.

This song seems to stand counter to Bye Bye Beautiful. It's kind of amusing when you compare these 2 songs and hear Tuomas and Tarja's responses to one another. Both songs are very emotionally charged, especially this one. The lyrics are some of the best for Tarja - very emotionally honest with powerful imagery; of course Tuomas's lyrics are generally very sophisticated and poetic.

@Nightwishfanzcc It seems to me that Master Passion Greed is more directed at her husband, and there is more anger in that song ("seek her, seduce her, tame her...") than in Bye Bye Beautiful, which is more cathartic I think. Anyway, I like both Tarja and Nightwish, and the essence of Nightwish hasn't changed after Tarja left. So to me this is a win-win-win situation: both Nightwish and Tarja are happier, AND I get to listen to TWICE as music as before. =D

@Nightwishfanzcc Metal music to me is always more about orchestration and song structure than vocals anyway, so for Nightwish harmony within the band is definitely more important. On the other hand, Tarja is now able to express herself and pursue her musical direction better, so in retrospect her departure is a good thing for both sides.

i read about some accident with the director for the music video, and read the music video would not be released because of it. Also, a wiki article states the song did not chart due to no promotion.

@midwintertears Tuomas even named their last tour END OF AN ERA. Then she cried at the press conference saying she didn't see it coming. This after she told the band she was leaving after the next album. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. As I see it the band had no choice but to fire her. She was no longer part of it except to sing the vocals.

But Tuomas rushed the auditions and picked a singer who is not capable of singing the music Nightwish plays. Bad move IMO.

The sacking was nasty and cowardly. She was leaving anyway (which they knew full well) so not only was it completely unnecessary but a PR disaster, there are a lot of Nightwish fans who will never forget it and Anette unfairly receives the sharp end of fans anger. And to really put the boot in, he writes a song about what a bitch she is (incidentally, I've never heard a bad word said about her by anyone other than the members of NW)

@dieseldog00 Totally agree with you, on top of the that that she had already said she was leaving after the next album, she was only interested in performing in the big lucrative concerts and had no interest in trying to bring the band to new audiences in america etc, in that situation sacking her was the only option for the band.

There will be some truth on both sides, but you only had to look at the way she acted on stage to see that at least some of what the band have said about her is true.
