I also heard the reason why a lot of people couldn't stand this game was because it had terrible jumping controls. Yeah that babe in the shredded clothing could keep anybody to keep coming back. I agree with you the opening music is ok but the original strider had such an awesome soundtrack that reminded me of a bizarre 70s or 80s sci-fi or fantasy film.

after messing around with this game on emulator for a few hours I've finally managed to figure out what hurts you when your trying to free the princess from the capsule instead of hitting the capsule you actually hit the princess which hurts her and you meaning if you acidently hit the princess you take damage for it.
the only difference between the pal version and ntsc version other than the title and the game going 5 frames faster is the ntsc version ommited meio saying to the pitts of hell with you strider when you get a gameover other than those two things both versions are the same
maybe but the odd thing is that the gamegear version of the game actualy says to the pits of hell with you strider when you get a gameover so how would sega and U.S gold explain why the genesis version had that saying removed but it's fully retained in the gamegear version
Wow, that's a humongous amount of voice over for a megadrive game. The cut scenes look rather nice too there at the end. Muuuuuch better than the crappy "congratulations" you get at the end of other games like contra.
It seems it's really dificult, which alienates even more people.
I only just found out about the Playstation version of Strider. I have not played it but just from looking at the footage I thought you would have liked it.
Damn, that game over screen was depressing as hell. They might as well have said "You suck, I raped your mother, and you'll never graduate college you insipid piece of shit."

Thanks that's an interesting fact. I wonder if that has to do with religious imagery being a big no-no in the early nineties as far as games went.

The genesis version of strider returns still has the "to the pits of hell with you strider" at the game over screen.
I played the ntsc version and he said "to the pits of hell with you strider"

That had to be, without a doubt, the longest and most unnecessary game over message ever.
