BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied

Just saw Paul Weller at the Apollo Theater in NYC last night. Paul was amazing, high-energy, top-form. The crowd seemed like it was on sedatives, with some people sitting down THROUGHOUT the whole gig. Did they realize they were watching a legend??? Tragic.
@dinster70 wow! The Apollo theatre NYC? I saw him live twice this yr, at Rotal Albert Hall London and then again recently in Sussex UK! suffice to say I wasnt sitting down on either performance! :-)
Saw him last night at the Forum in Melbourne - what a performer! It was a wonderful show with a really talented band too... so many multi-instrumentalists!. The accoustic bracket was sensational!
I find this to be one of the greatest songs of the last 20 years. I will be seeing him live for the first time November 3 in L.A. Cannot wait! Will be epic!
I've seen a lot of great musicians in small venues (e.g., Elvis Costello, Police, Sting, The Jam, Brian Setzer, etc.) and I must say there is something entirely unique about Paul Weller. I saw him at the Vic Theater (Chicago 2003) and I was absolutely mesmerized. He started off in a casual, low-key way and seemed a little stiff. As he played the first 2-3 songs he changed pace, intensity, and groove to draw in and meld with the crowd. I've never witnessed anyone do this like him...stunning!
@0525bella Goddamned it. Paul is only playing 3 gigs in the U.S.. One gig in L.A. and 2 gigs in New York. And that's it. Sucks. I wish he could do a gig up in the bay area.
@0525bella I find this to be one of the greatest songs of the last 20 years. I will be seeing him live for the first time November 3 in L.A. Cannot wait! Will be epic!
@0525bella Well I have to say a pretty cool experience for the first TWO times seeing him. I enjoyed the Wiltern atmosphere and enjoyed the setlist. I'm really into the new songs so that doesn't bother me. AND we got to hear Wild Wood! How many is that for you now?
LA fans he will be here at the Wiltern Theatre Nov 3rd. Please go see him. I've been fourtunate to see him live. Will be there again. Weller is fricking awesome!
i never realy payed attention to his work after the jam until i read the book about him 'the changing man' where friend of his talks about what their about it's well worth reading. and now i listen carefully and hear the meaning behind them, how blind was i.
Weller is from down the road from where I come from. All I have to do, no matter what is happening, is listen to any of his tracks and it takes me to another place. No other artist/ band has done that. Even his rarities are brilliant. I am only 18 and was introduced to him by my mate, we used to sing/chant Down In The Tube... everyday walking home.
fucking excellent...hey people stop being sheep and follow your heart...fuck doing jobs that pays the bills, do what you wanna do and the bills will pay themselves.JFDI - just fucking do it
nice one! totally agree..if u really wanna do something u can do anything!! probs wont come straight away....but chin up!! and pick up!! these legendry musicians and songwriters or any other artits for that matter are just human beings...always! always! pisses me off when people refer to them as "gods"...i rest in the knowledge that its just very slack tongued internet talk.....they are just human beings who had a dream. so yeah JFDI...
Always loved The Jam etc.. Never had the chance of seeing him live til last year when my life changed and i saw him in Doncaster.. Then saw him this year at Sherwood Forest.. The most amazing person i have ever listened too.. xxx
Its so hard to imagine that this genius wrote 'town called malice' in the jam, 'Youre the best thing' in the style council and 'You do something to me' in his solo work, 3 of the most famous songs ever, yet all completely different in their own ways, you wouldnt listen to all of them and assume they are the same band/artist, only one thing holds them together - PAUL WELLER
Quite simply the best song writer in recent history. also a fantastic performer live. An inspiration for the whole britpop movement of the 90s and still leading the way today.
I can't stop listening to this..just discovered Paul Weller again and loving what he has done... wish I lived in the UK so I can go see him live... don't think he comes to Canada ... too bad
i see pw up for a brit award for best solo artist ( undisputibly) in my opinion but what about the "outstanding contribution to music" award lets look at the bigger picture the blokes a genious.....
