  • Makes me sad. :'(

  • This is a great song, and the quality is outstanding.

  • Awesome sound and great job on the picture memorial. My Mom watched this every Saturday morning in between my Saturday morning cartoons, so in a way, I grew up with him, too, and this really brought back the memories. Thank you very much for putting forth the effort.

  • To curleyb3: The sound quality of this upload is one of the finest I've heard on You Tube. Thanks for posting this!

  • To jeffreymliss: I deeply appreciated your comments! You're right...those were the days!

  • It seems that the Western has also passed into history. The "good old days," when you couldn't turn on the TV and not find an exciting adventure, are long gone. Roy and Dale, The Cisco Kid and Poncho, The Lone Ranger and Tonto, Bat Masterson, Bonanza, The Rebel, The Rifleman, Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke, Gene Autry, Rin Tin Tin, Wagon Train, Hopalong Cassidy...all those trail blazers have ridden into the final sunset... Those were the days.

  • I was lucky enough to do the last Documentary on ROY & DALE before they passed.. I was in heaven sitting across from my childhood hero getting to hear his stories and just to be in the same space with them.. WHEW,, what a great moment,, Dusty had driven them to the meeting *)o(*

  • Interesting. My law professor was just fussing at us today for not really knowing who Roy Rogers was haha

  • how do u download this for free. nOt the video but the song?

  • Thumbs up if Lieutenant Cole brought you here.

  • @MISTERnTekno Actually, it was the Big Texas Butters Show!

  • I WILL FOREVER LOVE ROY AND GENE, I PLAN TO TALK WITH THEM IN HEAVEN SOMEDAY. THANKS BARRON PILGRIM

  • I WILL FOREVER LOVE ROY AND GENE, I PLAN TO TALK WITH THEM IN HEAVEN SOMEDAY.

  • Roy Rogers! :D

  • He was my biggest hero as a kid. I had the big cap guns and the hat, and I saw all his movies.

  • who ever disliked this song doesnt have a soul

  • It is amazing the influence this had on people back in the 50's. wish we lived in times like those.

  • All the psycho Washington politicians who voted overwhelmingly to slaughter this country's wild mustangs and line their pockets with mustang burger profits -- can you believe they grew up with horses like Roy Rogers' Trigger and Gene Autry's Champion and Fury and Flicka? I'm with Robert Redford who said in the movie Lions For Lambs -- Forget Washington. They're past irredeemable. Kathy Augustine, the Nevada politician who handled that state's mustang profits, was murdered by her husband.

  • I miss Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and also Gabby Hayes and that old jeep. Also miss the 50's. I think sometimes I've been here too long but I keep enjoying what comes around the corner.

  • @horseman528

The jeep was Nellie Belle, driven by Pat Brady. Remember?

  • @Bluebonnett52 You're right. It was Pat Brady. They do look somewhat alike and I guess my brain got them mixed up. Sorry about that Pat wherever you are. I hope we will see more people like Roy and Dale as the next generation matures and comes of age. This country needs more people like that.

  • Roy and Dale were folks of integrity! A rare breed in this world today! They lived their faith and were a great example of how to live a great life!

  • Heck, I cried when I listened to this song!

  • my dad was a huge roy rogers fan and when he died i made a cd of sum of his fave songs to play at his funeral....this song played as we started the line to walk by the casket on the way out the door

  • This is real entertainment by real entainers. I remember them well.

  • This song always makes me cry. My dad always sung it to me when I would go to sleep. It's been 15 years since my dad passed away and I still sing this song in his memory. Getting his memorial tattoo soon and, of course, these lyrics will be featured in this tattoo. RIP Dad. <3 You

  • Weird Roy Rogers trivia piece: Promoters of the original, 1969 Woodstock festival tried to sign Roy on to close the festival with "Happy Trails" - but he declined. I think it would have been more than a bit weird to see the "King of the Cowboys" giving the send off to the remaining stoned, passed out hippies, all laying amidst a sea of litter and mud. My guess: good call, Roy!

I was only 5 in 1962, but Roy was my favorite TV cowboy!

  • i miss those two; when i was 8 or nine years old, roy was no.1.; gene autry, no.2, and "the durango kid" was no.3. yes, the durango kid, charles starrett.

  • Growing up in the 50's, these folks were favorites of mine. Dale was born not too far from where I grew up, so, being a little kid, I felt like I knew her.

She wrote this song, and the way she and Roy sang it was perfection. I never get tired of them...

  • I really enjoyed them on TV.

  • i was born way too late to have grown up on roy and dale, but i grew up on the re-runs. i've often thought i was born in the wrong era.

  • One feels really old when you realize that you have outlived your childhood heroes... not to mention sort of sad.

  • I once had the pleasure of meeting Roy Rogers. He told me that Dale Evans had actually written another verse (not to be confused with the "religious verse" that was written much later.) He said the recording label took it out as popular songs of the era needed to be no longer than 3 minutes in length. He then proceeded sing that verse for me, I will never forget it.

  • Roy and Dale were the real deal... they talked the talk and walked the walk. I may not agree with their "Christian values", but they were honest Joes and lived their faith. We could all take a lesson about HOW they lived their lives.

  • we played this at my mothers funeral yesterday and there was not a dry eye in the house. the words are so appropriate! LOVE LOVE LOVE this song :)

  • we played this at my mothers funeral yesterday and there was not a dry eye in the house. the words are so appropriate! LOVE LOVE LOVE this song :)

  • My Father met " Roy Rogers & Dale Evans " at the Top of ( The Space Needle ) ; in Seattle , Washington . During the ( 1962 ) " World's Fair "

  • They play this every Sunday on FM 106.9 here in Wisconsin (Milwaukee radio station) I'm not too fond of older country songs, but this one I definatly do like.

  • @yinyang1530 Belling ends his program on WISN 1130 AM in Milwaukee to this song too. It's a great song.

  • @Askerban That it is my friend, that it is.

  • This was actually a big radio hit in the very early 1950's HONEST!!!!!!

  • I was born in 47 and remember all the wonderful TV shows. They all will be missed.

  • I love this song. Grew up watching them on tv.

  • I attended school from elementary thru high school with his descendants. How could we not love them? Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore, OK is awesome!!!

  • @McBeck1960 You do realize Roy and Will are 2 different people don't you?

  • Every time I hear Roy sing " Who cares about the clouds when we're together?" I feel myself replying "not me, Roy I'll be seeing you".

  • so awesome!

  • i played this at my talent show with my girlfreind and we won, thx roy :)

  • This was from the era where men were men and women were proud of it.

  • @fraydog I'm one of those "men were men" type of guys and I wish I could say the same thing about most men in 2011

  • @bigphil399 Good we need more of you!

  • Years ago I had the good fortune to be on an airliner with Dale Evans. When we got into the terminal, she was as sweet as could be and smiled and spoke kindly to everyone who came up to her.

  • This old record from the late 50's had lots of contributions from the Sons of the Pioneers, ironically Roy was an original member way back when.

How can you ever beat the harmonies at 2:01....four part?

  • :') I have never heard this before, it wouldn't be common in my generation what with all this Justin Beiber whatnot. But... That's such a shame. It's so beautiful. My New Funeral Song

  • How in the world did we come from Roy and dale to the crap that's on TV now, I won't even watch any of it now, it's so mindless, I can't even fathom most of it now. Boy, I sure am glad to have grown up with all of thses terrifc people on TV. We used to watch the Roy Rogers show every Saturday along with The Lone Ranger, Wild Bill Hickock, Gene Autry, and so many other ones, all of them were great. Thanks for the posting here, great memories.

  • @allenjan36 Unfortunately, the programmers pander to public demands. It's the people who've changed. Wholesomeness, virtue, and morality are now considered passe and corny. What we've become is a damned shame.

  • @allenjan36 Yes! And Fury, Sky King, My Friend Flicka, Lassie, Bonanza, But Roy and Dale, they were the BEST, Love them !! I too am so glad that I was born in the 50's. Forever grateful.

  • What do you think happens after we die?

  • @sluggo06 silly girl, the universe goes on, just like it did before you got here.

  • da chicken off da chain wuta 40ounce ena biscut

  • My grandma started crying when I listened to this song.

  • @TheCrystal0817 So did I. Sure did bring back memories of better times.

  • @TheCrystal0817 aw why

  • @TheCrystal0817 Haha, my grandma probably would 2 ; )

  • They were a source of joy to all of us -- unbridled joy.

  • What a wonderful influence they were to those of us growing up in the '50's.

Even more wonderful to find out what kind of people they were. Stars of today could learn a lot from them!!

  • @copcartal Wish I could give you numerous thumbs up!

  • @copcartal And yet, Gene Autry is the ONLY tigger to have five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Heil Gene! A five-finger mandatory salute to the greatest singing cowboy to ever grace The Third Rock From The Sun.

  • Thank you ,Mr.Art Carlson for everything you done. You were God sent at a time most needed in our familly's lives and we all miss you very much! and "yes" we will all meet again.Thank you Mr. Art Carlson!

  • IS it just me...or does this seem like a 1,000 years ago?

    A kinder, gentler, simpler time...sigh !

    ~ ~ ~

There is only one way to receive eternal life and one name to believe in to receive salvation.

“the name of Jesus Christ . . . Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12

  • Happy Trails to You was the song that closed the last Shadoe Stevens American Top 40 in January 1995.

  • Great respect for Roy and Dale...It was such a special time to grow up in. They were the best possible influence on us kids...God bless them..They are missed..

  • This song touches so many hearts ... especially those of us who grew up in the fifties. Thanks for posting!

  • my Papaw died this past weekend. this song was played at his funeral and it was the only song that brought me to tears because he loved Roy and this song would definitely be his message to all of us.

  • @matheniajt same with my dad, I welt up every time I hear it

  • I love the quote from Roy Rogers, "I lived a CHARMED life."

  • @Jibbie49 yea and i love this quote from the sopranos............................... Christopher Moltisanti: We shoulda stopped at Roy Rogers.

Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: Yeah and I shoulda fucked Dale Evans but I didn't............ he prolly did tho

  • bom tempos que não voltam mais, como era bom os filmes e temas desses filmes ,hoje fica a saudades do inicio da televisão onde tinhamos bons programas

  • R.i.p. grandpa..

  • ha where playing this for a stand tune in band.

  • I'm drinking a Shirley Temple with my legs crossed while watching this.

  • Que saudades!!!!

  • I listen to this song over and over again. I like it A LOT.

  • They still play this song on the radio

  • Roy Rogers and Dale Evens were the typical western couple.

    HAPPY TRAILS TO EVERY1!!!!! :):):):)

  • What a wonderful walk down memory lane :)

  • i like van halen's version

  • They play this song everytime a store called Hastings closes.

  • this song was played at my grampas funeral

  • How lovely....

  • In the 1940s, during World War II and beyond, I used to fantasize what it would be like if Roy Rogers were my father. I finally got to meet him when he was 83 years of age, at his museum in Victorville, California. He gave my wife and I a twenty-minute personal tour of the museum - just Roy and us. It was one of the greatest moments of my life - one I shall never forget.

  • Why have let this attitude be taken over by the scum of humanity and the dregs of life. It is high time we revert back to those values that brought us all the pleasant life of love, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To hell with those that are critical of our old ways. They belong in the hell that they promote.

  • @TheTexn all for that, but no bigotry and racial discrimination please.

  • @newnhamlea1 "The scum of humanity and the dregs of life" and "those who promote a hell on earth" have no racial connotation unless you are a racist and that is not true of me. That element in our society crosses all racial lines and has no respect for race or gender, faith or morals and dogma. I am of a people in this country who have historically been known to have no social barriers except decency and respect for all people.

  • @TheTexn i wasnt directing that at you, i meant 'im all for going back to the old ways of society, just without any racism and bigotry that used to exist back in that time, particularly with anti-gay and downright racist laws'

  • @newnhamlea1 Thats why the old times where so damn good didnt have all this gay shit that we do know.

  • @newnhamlea1 I hate people like you that say its ok to be gay its not thats what is also good about the old days more people loved the true living God and that is Jesus. Its not good to keep letting people live in sin and thats exactly what being gay is. The only thing i am against that was done back then is racisim but other then that its all good.

  • I agree wholeheartedly, Tex. Why can't we do it, you ask? My answer is twofold. First, this nation was founded in racism and genocide despite our glorious Preamble. Those charlatans who say they want to get back to the original Constitution really want a return to slavery and its three-fifth's rule. Second, we have a filthy corporate media that promotes hatred and lies.

  • For example, less than a day after George Steinbrenner's death, Rush Limbaugh called him a "cracker who made millionaires out of many African-Americans and who fired many whites." Why is the PigMan (that’s Rush Limbaugh) allowed on the air? The big corporations WANT Americans divided and fighting each other. They're scared of us wage-earners. If they can keep us distracted they can keep robbing from us. Any wage-earner who votes Republican is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

  • i love this song love bunches, gabi dubroc

  • This is great, I always watch them when I was little.

  • for all those cowboys out there hitting the trail ... ")

    God's traveling mercies ...

  • Takes me back in time to the days of the Radio, listening to lovely music like this, and fantasizing being a cowboy.

  • Still sweet and wonderful. I love the West and the wonderful way these two made it seem.

  • when i was a little boy. i would go to my grandmas and always watch her Roy Rogers movies. i loved him and would dress up like him all the time. my uncles thought my name was roy because thats what everyone would call me. i was at a grocery store one time, and the cashier started to sing this song to me. never forget that. btw im only 18 so he was well liked long ahead of his time. i remember hearing about when he died. my grandpa cut out the article and gave it to me. i still have it

  • At my school in choir we're singing this to say good bye to the seniors. I thought it was so cute! :D

  • Roy and Dale-the ultimate love story.

  • For those of us old enough to remember, Roy and Dale were a part of our lives and we all watched them every Saturday on our 10" black and white television.

  • Now, doesn't it blow one's mind, with all the Tiger Woods' Paris Hilton's, and OJ's, that once upon a time, we had two celebrities no one could say anything bad about? Here were two people that a generation actually wanted to be like!

Try to find that today; and, if that makes me a chump, then, I'm glad..Glad to've been taught cleanliness, and love of God and country, and other things now laughed at..

  • Roy Rogers and Dale Evans together for Eternity. We miss you until we see you in HEAVEN.

  • this sounds like a song that they would put in the introduction of fallout then they get it all messed and try to make it scary.

  • I still have my Roy Rogers cup and camera, I wonder if they are worth anything. My favorite cowboy and cowgirl.

  • Learn about "chem trails" (no space) ASAP. It's a secret military program. I've filmed it lots - see my vids.

  • Roy and Dale were a special couple. I grew up watching reruns of the "Roy Rogers Show" as a kid and have always LOVED Roy's voice. Thanks for sharing this video

  • I love this song, and I thank you for sharing this wonderful 5* post.

  • Happy Trails to you!!!

  • Roy Rodgers is always in my heart for ever

  • I loved the shows, loved Roy and Dale, tried to be just like them, I miss them too, I sing this song when I ride my horse.

  • Enjoyed watching Dale on TBN, and miss Roy too.

  • @BertTrump wtf? you're an idiot.

  • this song was at my granpas funeral

  • What an all Amreican couple. I watched them in the late 50's. They are such a good example for people and youth today.

    I miss them!!

  • Thanks Curlyb3 my gal & I went down diffrent trails in life, wish things could have been diffrent! We had 10 good years more than some get, "God " watch over her!!1

  • Roy and Dale possessed hearts of love not only for each other but for the children they adopted. Their hearts broke when two died tragically.

Following a few years of marriage, Dale and Roy became Christians, giving their hearts to Jesus Christ of the Bible. Dale forthrightly spoke of her love for Jesus Christ in her books. (1 John 5:10-13—the Bible)

  • @valleeauthor

i didn't know roy & dale initially weren't christian. the type people they were with their great value system & love of humanity would suggest they were always christian.

i'm agnostic, but as a child of the 50's i loved em & their values. i rarely missed their tv program. it was a dear favorite of mine.

dale wrote a book, i think it was called "angel unaware". it was my beloved mother who told me of her book and it's meaning. mom was big fan of dale & her christianity.

  • I am not sure why someones great value system & love of humanity would suggest that they were always Christian. Other religions and also non-religious human beings promote the very same values.

  • i'm agree with you meeshsquared.

  • @meeshsquared

No they don't. Other religions profess violence , intolerance, and hatred.

the term "christian love" has a meaing behind it.

The meaning behind islam is always jihad,,, killing. They dont' even treat their own wives, daughters, mothers properly.

  • @xvoy2002 I am so sorry that this is what you believe.

  • @meeshsquared It's not what I believe. It is what is true.

  • @meeshsquared Im so sorry your ignorant and believe jihad is a peaceful religion are you crazy?

  • @meeshsquared Sure they do dumbass.

  • it just struck me valleeauthor...it's no wonder the children of the 50's were the protesters of the 60's.

we were taught by roy & dale, gene autry, superman, captain midnight, the lone ranger, kit carson and other "tv show heros" the value of right and wrong. they all stressed the uselessness of fighting, killing and treating our fellow human beings without respect.

we learned well their lessons. problem is our government didn't!

  • were they Married ?

  • @jstrawse, yes, Roy and Dale were married for over 50 years.

  • Welcome Centurians. As you may have deduced from the video, today is my last day amongst you. Fear not, for I will be doing contract work in the upcoming months. All y'all have taught me various important things, and that is greatly appreciated as I wander in the darkness of the unknown.

  • Brings back memories of their tv show when I was a kid. RIP Roy-1998 RIP Dale-2001 I hope you're together again.

  • Brings one back to a time when life seemed much simpler. I miss them both very much. Thanks for posting. More of the same, please!

  • R.I.P Roy.

  • we'd always have to play this when we were closing down the store haha

  • WOW! I've been looking for this song for 8 years!! Since 5th grade I have been bothered by this tune and this song and never really remembered the words to it, since I had only sung it a couple times in 3rd grade. Finally, I can die in peace!

  • A very good song to be played at the DC snipers execution tonight.

  • The funny thing is, I know this song, but I don't remember it in the traditional sense.

  • Thanks,my childhood saturday mornings with Roy and Dale and my brother John and sister Suesie,,great memories

  • Two very good human beings that did alot of good.

  • @Palmerization YES! No matter how messed up things get in the next few years, remember Roy and Dale and how good a man and a woman can be together. I grew up in the 70s, in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Roy and Dale got me through those dark days. Don't lose heart, friends. WE ARE GOING TO WIN! HAPPY TRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hello b western fans, roy rogers was my best western hero,i meet him in person two time, please check my youtube posting and web site, tex lavallee

  • This song i think of my dad good song.

  • They created memories that have roots in eternity. They were special on and off camera. I miss what they gave to all of us. A simpler time; a simpler way to live. And faith that we will all find a "Happy Trail".

  • @u2509249 the way the world should play out !!! nice thoughts

  • At Roy's memorial service they released doves. His son Dusty turned to his brother and said "What do you think Dad would say about this?" The other replied "You take the ones on the right, I've got the ones on the left" :-)

  • @0emk1 Oh that's great, nothing better than a laugh in death, I like that

  • @0emk1

haha I Love that story .I grew up with Roy and Dale in the 50s sitting there with my toy six shooters.Happy TRAILS ROY AND DALE UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

  • @0emk1

I like to think at least one side was using cameras.

What can I say, I'm a hopeless idealist.

    God Bless the USA!

  • dale was hot! no kiddin'. check out some of her old photos.

  • @orienteeer Agreed..Like Martha Raye, she had a great figure..A fine figure of a woman, she was! She, and Gail Davis, who played Annie Oakley on tv, were my favorite gowgirls..

  • God Bless you Roy, Dale. You were my second parents. Thanks!

  • My grandmother is buried at least 1st down from roy roger"s tomb, and the funeral home where he is buried at has a channel here on youtube.

  • Wow...this was originally supposed to close out Woodstock...that would have been interesting

  • Brings back memories of watching them on Saturday morning TV when I was a little kid. It was one of the few things I had in common with my Dad - we both were Roy Rogers fans as kids. My Dad was born in 1935. I was born in 1956.

  • ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG DALE WROTE .

  • just enjoying the tune, from a ageing Roswell New Mexico range detective, . . . its still the " wild west " out here ,
