I'm sure you're a fantastic player haha. But I play Viola too, and you might want to consider getting a regular wooden viola. Vivaldi and all the other classical and baroque songs weren't meant to be played on something electric. Play it on a wooden instrument and It'll sound better, trust me. (:

If youre looking for something to play on an electric viola, try more contemporary songs. Or look up "Viola Rock". It might help.

I absolutely love this video.

Vivaldy must rotate in his grave about that distortion and poor-balanced tone (what happened to the low frequencies?) and the mix of expressional playing and total lack of expression but always technically and rhythmically very good.

To be honest, "string orchestra" alone can mean fame... or 1st grade. Not a very prestigious title. His hand technique is good, like you said. But speed doesn't distinguish good performances, especially with violists. The viola is all for that whole, masculine, rich, deep tone, ya' know? :) Plus, I think he could work on varying his vibrato, since vibrato itself can eventually get real monotonous and cheesy in my opinion. But whatever, this guy is cool and played well. :D

Yeah, a nice electric can go into the thousand's. Amazingly cheap, poorly shipped, slightly damaged ones can be bought from china though for a few hundred. XD

Of course an eletric viola (or violin/cello) doesn´t sound as good as an acoustic one, specially for classic, but they usually sound quite okay. Problem tough, is trying to put pedal and distortion on they, distortion pedals weren´t made for violin/violas, but for guitar, i´ve never heard a good distorted eletric violin/cello etc in my whole life.

it was ok... but you have to work on straight bow and your bowing grip doesnt seem right, and your bowing need some work too, your arm is kinda like a chicken wing right now, try to make it so your forearm moves not your whole arm

I bought my perfectly good electric violin for £109 - that's about $220. I don't think the quality actually varies that much. I just wish my bridge was slightly more curved - I keep accidentally crossing strings, and because it's amplified, all your mistakes ring out badly! My small amp only cost £50 - about $100. It's a good investment, I say you should all go for it!
