the reason why buddhist historians say buddha was born in india which is now in "MODERN DAY NEPAL" is because the word nepal was not even called nepal and was not even its own area of land, it was part of "bharat" which is indias real name.

there is alot of distortion in the movie...1)buddha was born in nepal not the 'ancient kingdom of india' which was always a soverign country and is 2) the little buddha found in nepal in a stupa named raju....if he is a nepali he must have spoken the nepali language not hindi. 3) the people in bhaktapur and kathmandu speak newari and nepali language not hindi 4) the major weakness is the birthpalce of buddha is lumbini (nepal) which is never mentioned in the movie................

They have spread their views in western society so much that the west actually associates buddhism with mysticism. People are turned off to the actually secular practice and philosophy of buddhism because of them. For instance, zen most certainly doesn't teach astrology or force belief in reincarnation. It's about meditation. It's about realization.

Buddhism has a story for just about everything.

The facts of the Buddha's life were changed (even by him) to help each and every particular person.

Some say he attained Enlightenment in one life, others say he was born Enlightened.

The only fact I can tell you for sure about his History, is that he led by example.

The Unrivaled Buddha's movie was directed by a person who is not a Buddhist. How come? Though he could use every scientific findings or analysis or whatever they call, that movie cannot be a real proof or the truth history of the Lord Buddha as I surely can say that the director Bernado Bertolucci has even never read the Abhidhamma Philosophy of the Buddha. So, all in all, the whole movie included all the unacceptable stuffs which are deviated from the truth of the Lord Buddha's history.
