Compared to New York City, its small to me! Brooklyn's population alone wud make it the 4th largest by its self! I'm just saying indy was cool and I enjoyed myself!
Great City Typical American Problems! Racism, Classism, and too much Black on Black crime due to lack of opportunity and In-Equality... Other than that it's a great City, needs an amusment park or other summertime venue though.
@theonlyavonne I agree! I grew up in Indiana and am going to school instate. I want to live in a big city when I get out of college but I don't drive. Indianapolis is very spread out and its bus system sucks! They need a rail network like Denver or Saint Louis has!
jacksonville is bigger no doubt but not better orlando, miami, panama city. i am from indiana but i lived in marianna ,florida j'ville is 5hrs east of marianna and panama city is 45 min south of marianna. indy is big and has a whole lot to do especially when it comes to sports a nba team, nfl team, indy 500. clubs out the ass. j'ville has nfl team thats it and lots of clubs indy has more jobs more money thats a fact. j'ville has more crime.
I grew up in Indianapolis back in the 1950's and 1960's before the advent of Unigov and all that. It was just a wonderful place to grow up in back then. Nobody locked their doors and kids just ran around between each other's yards in the neighborhood. Nobody worried because everyone knew that they were safe. I remember the Indy 500 time trials and race, 4th of July picnics and fireworks, and lazy, endless summer days. True Americana.
Lol not true dome. Indianapolis will show u the true meaning of american. Hard working. Taking pride in ourselves. Honesty. I promise if u go to indy u will not regret it
@mshartz5 Indianapolis 829,718 Metro 2,035,327 City proper is way bigger and it's the 12th largest City St Louis 319,294 Metro 2,779,939 St. Louis is the 15th largest city
@mshartz5 No, Nashville is smaller than Indianapolis and Louisville. But Indy is bigger than louisville. But Indianapolis is named Nap town for a reason.
@mshartz5 Have you been to Indianapolis before? Violent crime rate is higher than Chicago's. I lived in Indianapolis and taught in schools that were 100% minority. Indianapolis is also know as the "gay 'hood circle city." Neither of these things would be the case if it were filled with rednecks.
@OMARPONCHO23 Lol way to steriotype. My family, my friends, and many people I know are not in factracist. We have tons of black people here, and asians, and Mexicans. Indianapolis is actually quite entertaining if you get out and explore
shit here is corrupt a cop drunk on duty hits a couple on motorcycles and charges get dropped due to lack of evidence???,my little brother got shot in the mouth laying in a hospital bed and the lead detective is hitting on my mom, fuck indy !!!!!!!
It really has everything, just not as open as larger cities. You just have to look and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Hossiers are private but friendly people, but don't want things rubbed in their faces.
Nothing to see here. It's a sports obsessed culture - no interest in the arts or culture, unfriendly to gays/minorities, ridiculous laws/taxes. Don't bother.
@MrGrevy Really, cuz some asshole keeps commenting over my shit saying Indianapolis is a very cultural place and how many museums they have. I was in Indianapolis a while ago and didn't see anything but Lucas field, IU, that new glass skyscraper and the raceway. Nobody said anything about world class museums or festivals. But they sure knew where the hell the raceway was.
@originaldudeman1183 We have a couple of ok museums. The IMA is respectable. My point is more about the mindset here. Culture is not respected or prioritized here. Everything is all about the Colts (blue friday at work, obsessing with the suberbowl, etc). We wasted millions in tax dollars on that eyesore of a stadium, meanwhile people bitch about paying teachers/schools, etc. You get the picture. Very conservative so you know what that entails.
@MrGrevy Yeh, I know all about conservatives. That is why I prefer certain parts of my city (louisville KY). We have a couple small sections of town where there are art galleries and Venues, beautiful parks with walking trails, and a few good bookstores, and most people are accepting of all lifestyles and hate intolerance. But the other 75% is all about religion, suburban sprawl, gentrification, or the latest trend. And most cities in this area are like that, not just Indiana.
I live in Indianapolis. All I can say is that if you're planning to move here, you'd best have a fascination with corn and racecars. That's about it, really.
Got a chance to visit Indi from LA back in 97. I had a great time. Went out to eat, dancing, met some great people - had a great time. 3 things stick out the most in my memory: the humidity (walking out of the airport I felt like I walked into a sheet of suran-wrap), the tornado warnings, and generally how cool people were. I def want to go back and visit.
HEY ! guys check my indianapolis video ,and all the big cities i've visited in united states, just search for carlo2331, here in youtube and let me know what you guys think about it

If you are looking for a big city, Chicago is near Indy and is great. I find it less stressful than New York, but definitely has that big city feel.
St. Louis is good, smaller than Chicago, but about double the size of Indianapolis. The weather will also be warmer there.
Nashville is interesting. It is known for having great music, but the traffic is terrible.
Louisville is a nice city in Kentucky. There will still be some rednecks, but a lot less than Indy.

No. Indianapolis will give you the wrong impression.
Not a terrible city - crime, etc. It just fulfills the foreign idea of USA: Rednecks.
