It's all very well for China to start growing their domestic economy but they will require huge amounts of resources. The longer their domestic boom goes for the more likely they are to do what the US did in the 20th Century and that is secure resources using proxy wars and occupation. Same world - new bossman.
So if we have inflation what do the currency prices look like - currently the USA/CHF is at 1.08 or so - does that mean it's up or down. How about the US Euro - up down - 1/2 of what it is double? You can short the dollar but when it goes down in value vis-a-vis inflation what does the "price" of it look like or read?? Anyone?
I believe that Jamie Dimon of Chase Bank has to go. Chase Bank is a key player in the desecration of the blue collar american.
The one trillion dollars of consumer credit card debt MUST BE REDUCED by offering incentives to those with debt that would actually make it possible for them to begin paying down their debt.
We americans believe in producing goods but the government
and corporations are only interested in moving all business to foreign countries. American politicians follow the desires of corporations and bankers not what is good for the citizens they represent. And these politicians are entrenched and bolstered by corporate money.
A former treasury official says that the SecTreas works for Goldman Sachs... More of the obvious.. Many folks have forgotten what Loyalty to the institution means.
people read "The Great American Bubble Machine" (Rolling Stones 2nd July) about Goldman Sachs role in econmic events.
I dont think that USA would becoe a 3rd world country, but GDP would drop 20 - 30% (EU or Japans level at PPP) without a reserve currency statuss. Of course Obama can spend 2 trillion federal deficit a year to slow the drop but it will drop from the debt burden eventually
Thanks Max and Dr.Roberts, What leads Dr. Roberts to believe that the Chinese and U.S.A. s wages wouldn't meet? That's what the U.S. government and the global capitalists want.
Usually takes HM Revenue 3 years of uncompleted forms to start the heavy psychological stuff; sending massively inflated demands with figures plucked from a Bingo ball machine - hand delivered letters - phone calls from nice ladies with reminders
Now - after only 2 years of uncompleted forms some oik is screaming 'bailiffs' down the phone - it's the funniest thing I've ever heard
The government must badly need cash or some reason - can't imagine why
Paulson Named Kashkari (pronounced cash-carry) To Lead Bailout , i kid you not . They have got to be laughing at the US public , there looting them blind and most still can t see whats going on .
The "dollar" is an illusion. It has no substance. It's a mind-control tool used on the "profane" by Masonic geopolitical sorcerors/parasites.
As the financial system is fake while natural resources are real, so the CORPORATION and its self-declared elite are fake: while the people, animals, plants, minerals, water, air - and the energy they all interchange - are real.
Life is alive; the dollar is dead. Let's drop the fictions and get back to what's real and true. "Come out of her, my people!"
Thanks Max, Good job, as always. We can save the U.S. economy by putting lottery and slot machines in our schools. Shipping more jobs to China and other countries that treat thier people like slaves. And building more prisons for our people to live in. Jim Morris, Yardley,Pa.
When a former secretary of the US Treasury says that your current secretary of the US Treasury works for Goldman Sachs, well, then you know you've got to do something.
ZeroHedge dot (you know what) -- has a lot of extremely good articles on this point.
Fantastic guest and questions. I truely like how you both characterize the "Free Trade" policy with the level of suble sarcasm it deserves. Nothing free about it. In the big picture it is just another means of concentrating weath at the top. Adam Smith and other true free traders would vomit at this Orwellian state of affairs.
The Wealth of Nations, Cato & Mises, and history prove Roberts wrong on his sentiments against free trade, (America "could have" treated China & India as a customer for great profit)
In fact, we can thank Roberts for the high cost of motorcycles & nonavailability of low cc motorcycle engines in America today, (thanks to his influence in passing HUGE tariffs on all motorcycles over 500cc's in order to prop up the old crappy AMC-Harley - A motorcycle that at the time would literally fall apart if driven over 50mph)
Actually the states DO treat china and india as "customers". In fact, they are the best customers. They are buying all the debt, which is mainly the only thing the states produce, excluding kick ass Harleys of course.
Listen, free trade in theory works. But as soon as someone tries to game the system, by having protectionism, it stops working. That's what China is doing. China isn't happy to allow american goods to be sold in its markets. They want to develop their own industries and favor them and they put tariffs on foreign goods. Anyone who follows world events a tiny little bit knows how predatory and protectionist China is. Stop believing in the free trade fantasy, America is getting fucked.
Despite what you government has told you, all the way up from childhood when you were forced to "duck and cover", by and large - People are cooperative, and benefit most by mutual cooperation
People are cooperative and benefit most by mutual cooperation. I agree and the best way people can cooperate with each other is if they are free to engage in whatever they decide is best and not dictated by central planners.
Don't worry, I want to believe that. But how does cooperation fit into for example, american politics? How many people, the american people, who -should cooperate-, hate each other for stupid things like pro-choice, religion, creationism, "liberals". I mean people spend more time hating each other than cooperating and kicking the bankers out the country. Divide and conquer seems to be working awfully well, and the powerful elite love it just the way it is.
Yeah but protectionism is a cost to whoever engages in it. For example if a nation reduces its exchange rate then they receive less income per unit and more demand. As demand picks up overcapacity comes about and prices pick up again and this distorts the rest of the economy. Devaluating currency increases import prices too. Im only covering one type of protectionism.
Short term other nations not engaging will suffer but long term its a net gain for a few main reasons I can think of.
Here's a pretty simple thought experiment. What if every last American job was shipped overseas? Are we in a better position now that we can buy things far cheaper, since they're being done overseas? Or are we now a third-world nation with no jobs? Modern free trade theory contains a fatal distortion on Ricardo's idea of "comparative advantage" - in his day, the factors of production were immobile. Offshoring of factories and entire industries en masse was entirely unimaginable.
Fact will be, the ages just like the prices will come down and 70% of the generall public will have to get used to a lower life standard or starve.
The Police-Military state is in place and 100% backed by anti terror laws ...... thats the answere for all thoes that will apose, riot and claim for democracy. Its full Global scale Corperatocracy that is emerging and showing its face ..... The public are now official slaves!

Free trade is the best but it doesnt work if you have the current monetary arrangement of fiat money and central banking.

daniel987878 2 years ago 3
That pulls the plug on the powers of your central planners
Thus, you are serving your masters; and will continue to serve your masters until:
1) Mankind miraculously wakes up, (never happened in history)
2) You decide to form your own government; obtain a 2nd citizenship; and, live like a world citizen
sugarpuddin88 2 years ago
You cant form your own government either because the powers that be wont allow it to take hold.
Mankind is waking up but no where near enough. Maybe if the current trend continues we will overcome the elite in due time.
Even if we dont succeed I think there is a god and all these events are just a test.
daniel987878 2 years ago
daniel
In fact, with the leverage of a 2nd citizenship, you will have sovereignty if you govern your international dealings appropriately!
For example: You can speed down the highway with impunity - You obtain radar & laser detection together with electronic counter measures equipment
Thus, you will be above the law. The predators, (law enforcement), will have to go after the much weaker in the herd
Does that make sense?
sugarpuddin88 2 years ago
Yeah but it aint gonna raise my living standards at all really. It gonna be more of a cost on others than anything else.
