  • They give me butterflies, especially this song. Feels like I am experiencing my first love all over again...

  • An Omnichord. Provo!

  • love ed, but dan is in another league...

  • Does anyone know what kind of guitar Dan is playing??

  • The fuck is that instrument?, the one Ed's playing

  • @andyrawsyou I believe its called an omnichord

  • Nah not Jewish he looks like he's from Pakistan

  • I can now say I've seen a violinist rock out at 3:41

  • sound guy did a great fuckin' job.

  • whats that instrument that the singer starts to play at 2:08?

  • @urbanfalcon756 It's an omnichord i believe.

  • @RiseAgainstNC Nailed it. It is an omnichord

  • Dan isn't wearing his New Balances :o

  • i love seeing a violinist that can get nasty and break out fiddle picking styles

  • @bluesensationist Yeah, I remember back when this video was first posted, some guy complaining about it...saying something like how he hated when "bros" try to overpower the song...talking about his plucking. Yet, the girl was doing it to and I thought it sounded great...he was obviously feeling the music and that's what I love about it.

  • So close to perfection!!

  • Damn, just so effing gorgeous to the ears. I can't ever get over this live.

  • i think, the violinist loves the song!!!

  • is the lead singer Jewish?

  • @Hamgammy Ya think? Who cares, he can sing very well and this band kicks ass!

  • @amuslder1 Huh? You are acting as if being Jewish is a disadvantage.

  • this song makes me want to cry

  • well..i've watched this video about 300k times...wonder who is responsible for the other few thousand?

  • It's so unorthodox, so beautiful

  • stunning... the only bad thing it's the drums sounds a little low.... and we need the drums in 0.58... that hit hat is awesome...

  • When he said, "I'm gonna take a stab at this" I got goosebumps. 0:38 - 0:42

Along with the violin, it's beautiful.

  • That bald headed idiot on the violin is such a dick. It's their live performance not yours! Stop wobbling you stupid bald head about!

  • @howardisgod you are definitely an idiot. he's getting into the song. i guess you couldnt relate. and how could he possibly be a dick. you dont even know who he is. leave.

  • @keyblader118 Oh I don't know, maybe because I play the violin and I know it is very easy to get into a song without shaking your fucking head about all over the place. This guy even has seperate videos dedicated to how much he looks like idiot.

  • @howardisgod have you not considered that he is a different person than you? im sure he has a different way of getting into the music. music affects people different ways, and to judge that is completely ignorant of you. once again, you dont know him.

  • @howardisgod It's adorable that you've never heard of orchestration and that maybe it was put together in such a way that maybe, just maybe, it was designed for that moment. Camera didn't just magically pan to the guy with the arpeggio solo. Go to hell forever.

  • @pkent1 The camera is at that angle because it is off stage, it is there to get a look at all of the people playing, not the the dick with the stupid head bounce.

As for the hell comment you should probably know that place doesn't exist.

  • @howardisgod you're right, how dare he enjoy himself! what kind of world do we live in where back up musicians move around like they're enjoying themselves without your permission.

  • there are absolutely no words to describe.

  • what's he playing? but freaking amazing composition and over all sound... my head phones don't do the song justice

  • The motherfucking EVERYTHING <3 Amazing melody. This is an incredibly composed song. Edward Droste has to be one of the most talented homosexuals in modern musical culture.

  • Does this version feel faster? Or is it just me?

  • Ed Droste's voice = 3=======D~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • I wonder how badly those background singers love this band.

  • Fetter Beat xD

  • love love love them! would love to see them again...

  • rickenbacker and grizzly bear. two great tastes that go together.

  • Tenho que concordar que ao vivo soa bem melhor. Perfeita harmonia.

  • People really need to look up the video of Jay Z and Beyonce dancing to this song at an outdoor concert. Jay even rants about how much he likes this band in a vid on youtube.

  • @Numinous123 Can you provide a link?

  • @pandaSmore

    /watch?v=DaJpCkmp0Z4

Here's a link. There a few other videos, but I won't post to those because you can easily find them yourself.

Was it really so difficult just to type the words "Jay-Z", or "Beyonce dancing to Grizzly Bears"?

Not for nothing, but the internet supposed to make looking things up like this easy.

  • @Numinous123 Thank You Sir.

  • @Numinous123 can i have the link please?

  • They really need to re-release this song with the new arrangement.

  • nice rappers xD

  • What guitar is he playing?

  • Chris T. plays off not getting the handshake damn well at 4:06..

  • 3:40 My favorite violin part in any song I've heard in my 17 years.

  • I've officially been 34 of these views.

  • Amazing that they can sound so fantastic live.

  • This really does just as good live. GB always puts on great performences

  • This is beautiful :)

  • What instrument is using the singer?

  • @Rushman31 an omnichord!

  • @Rushman31 a omnichord, they're badass!!!

  • the asshole plucking the violin needs to be told he's not actually a member of Grizzly Bear

  • @TonysNoize dont annoy man! he is making a well job. the camera man musn`t film him. its a well melody

  • @TonysNoize lol....how is he being an asshole? Your comment makes no sense.

  • what does he said at the beginning; "crawling with grizzly bears?"

  • @Amorstopineed it means the island has a lot of grizzly bears.

  • @ParthofthePigeons and what`s the joke? :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Amorstopineed I was worried for a second there... :P

  • he looks stoned lol-

  • Who gets the most ass in this band? Obvious guess would be the bassist, which I bet is wrong.

  • @tcumbie omg you are annoying

  • Great album as a whole. Yellow House is probably my favorite however :)

  • 4:19 man, that`s really a nice smile :D

  • @Amorstopineed indeed :P

  • @arhigloosim that must be a sympathic dude :D

  • for many month "two weeks" was my favourite song from grizzly bear, and maybe the only, which i really listened to. but now, "ready able" has beaten up!

  • 3:00 and on = pure bliss...and the greatest moment on the entire album, in my opinion.

  • I can never get enough of Grizzly Bear. Geez, I love these guys.

  • i just discovered these guys, and am i so astounded and lost

  • What is that thing that Droste is playing?

  • @m1ketk88 an omnichord

  • @m1ketk88 autoharp

  • I like this particular arrangement perhaps better than the album version. The strings add a lot to the song. It makes me wonder what a full orchestral arrangement of this song might sound like.

  • @Eleo235 There are strings on the album version too. And it sounds incredible with a full orchestra, they played with the LSO at the Barbican on Halloween in 2009.

  • @danielxmorris You're right, but it's mastered differently, and if they are playing pizzicato on the album like they do here then I'm not hearing it. It's cool they actually played with the LSO, I'd love to have heard that

  • That's not a CD, Dave. That's a vinyl LP!

  • i love his nose

  • i Like this better. the music video scares the shit outta me!

  • I've never felt this way about a song before.

  • These guys are perfection.

  • Amazing performance, gotta love them :D

  • Average lifespan of a Grizzly Bear is 32 years. :)

  • what effect pedal does the bass player use?

  • chris taylors hair...yes

  • Even Letteman was blown away.

  • letterman probably apologized for something crass or insensitive he might have said the time before. he is in fact a crass and insensitive human being.

  • @JayRocks311 He apologized because the last time they were on the performed 'Two Weeks" and he said it was on the album Friend and even held up that cover, but as we all know it i son Veckatimast.

  • @fbmandy55 well he's still crass, and insensitive.

  • @JayRocks311

He apologized for not being able to have them play last time they were there. A guest took up too much time, and unfortunately he had to bump Grizzly Bear to make the time.

  • LOL! Letterman called them ladies.

  • letterman always has good bands.....one of the many reasons he's 1000000 times better than leno.

  • This song is about how this generation views marriage and long term relationships, uncertainty and pressure leads to an hapless decision that leaves someone wishing they would let their partner they did what they did because of the generations before them. And how shallow it all seems to be.

    True story brah.

  • That even made Dave's toes curl a little bit... 3:55

  • @shutupxandxdance Was that a Deep Sea Diver reference?

+ 100 point to you, good sir (:

  • @TTBRedux Indeed, fine friend. Indeed. Dave gives a little "Ewww!" and no one caught it, much like dropping off the shelf...

  • 1:25 - 1:45 Divine!

  • man....i'm ready for some new stuff from these guys

  • "veca ta mist"

    -dave letterman

  • lettermans a bozo

  • I could listen to this song on repeat, all day, all night. Along with Service Bell with Feist.

  • simple genius song. very well structured

  • anybody know the time signature in the beginning before the 6/6

  • gtfo violin player scrape

  • @Jobizzie I thought the violin plucking was awesome but it was a departure from the album. Without a doubt this was an amazing live performance. I still would have sacrificed one of my lesser liked family members to be there.

  • haha, he looks back at the violins and says thanks to you too, ladies

  • fuck the bro playing the violin, your not in the band

  • god, i love his voice

  • Listen to my videos and i'll grant you three wishes

  • im pretty sure thats an omni chord. minus the bear uses one in their latest album ironically called OMNI

  • What the hell is that thing Ed is playing?

  • @CaptainPancakes a derpaphone

  • At 4:08 Letterman fakes out the bass player for a handshake. Poor guy.

  • comment something bad about vevo and you get a bunch of thumbs up! ; )

  • This is amazing....

  • This is amazing....

  • what a great live performance.. i suggest seeing them in concert though.. way crazier!!

  • the whole song is crazy, but past 2:38 is insane

  • Chris bear is adorable.

  • woah they should just as good live thats pretty impressive considering how complex and intricate their wonderful sound is

  • this is too precious <3

  • Why is David Letterman "sorry about last time"?

  • @Todd200

Off the top of my head, I remember reading at their site back in the day that their previous minute had been canceled last-minute because one of his interviews went over time or something like that.

  • @Todd200 They played Two Weeks on his show, and he introduced it as a song on their EP 'Friend', which it isn't.

  • i cannot stress the importance of this band enough , they're incredible.

  • thank you for being amazing grizzly bear. also the violin man was astonishingly boss.

  • i like to think ed droste summons his powers with his glorious nose...

  • Just so all of you know, Chris Bear is the drummer. Ed Droste is the singer. It seems as though a few of you are a little confused about this. Haha

  • Does anyone know what that thing is that Chris Bear is playing? It looks like some kind of crazy synth made out of a telephone.

  • @freshskweezer It's a Suzuki Q chord or Omni chord the one Chris uses is an older model and possibly circuit bent look them up on ebay they go pretty cheap usually.

  • @freshskweezer Chris Bear would be playing a drumset. Do you mean what is Ed playing?

  • @Etwizzy99 indeed, my bad.

  • 3:17 to 3:24 - Listen to Chris Bear. Speechless.

  • @keyblader118 What's so special here? I feel like you either have the name wrong or the time wrong.

  • Chris Bear is one the top drummers on my list (Not that it's a special one) because of his ability to feel the music and actually add with his drums. He knows when to play, what to play, and how to play it ya know? Most drummers in today's music scenes either drum the hell out of everything, or just plod along like metronomes. Chris isn't normally in the spotlight in Grizzly Bear, but his drumming makes the music. He is the unsung hero of this music, and really drumming in music today. The end.

  • You can hear more of the subtleties here than you can on the album version. How strange. I liked this more than the claymation.

  • Ed sounds like heaven.

  • Christ, they're so good.

  • "this is the uh, the CD right here". that's a rip.

  • Bald guy wins the Internet.

  • that's it folks, we're out of ti-

  • What happened last time?

  • un.fucking.believable.

  • this live version sounds better than their cd performance...

  • what the fuck !!!

the bald guy destroyed it at the end that was awesome i gatta go clean my pants their getting sticky :3

  • B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l performance!!!

  • I wish they would not have overly reverbed his voice, otherwise perfect.

  • @TheSolsticeSH dude wtf are you talking about, these guys are from nyc

  • @sorryimnottherenow whooooooooooooooops...

  • voice seems effortless

  • This show was my first exposure to Grizzly Bear.

  • Ed Drotese is like God singing, Jesus is his Bassist Moses His Guitarist and St Peter the Drummer

  • Fucking incredible. I hope they come back to toronto!!!

  • Wow i just fell in love with this band!

Also i want a string quartet in my band :)

  • I nominate Daniel Rossen to be placed in the rock n roll hall of fame after his death

  • @1curis You realize that if Daniel Rossen made the Rock n Roll HoF he'd be enshrined between The Ronettes and Run-D.M.C. Let me count the number of ways that that seems wrong...

  • Chris Bear can be so subtle, yet so powerful; His range is astounding.
