  • @skyman2002 ehh, i know of some good ones. Best Buy is a nice place to look for somthing, somtimes they are better than ones online, although its alot more fun to get it on the internet. you should try a Nikon, they are pretty nice i hear. What kind of camera did you use for this video???

  • @trainz675 My First Camera Ever, A Pentax Optio E10.

  • This crossing is at the bottom of a steep hill?

So top (o)T(o) are aimed upwards to be seen earlier by traffic?

  • what train is this

  • @mommabeardee AMTRAK

  • really 579 videos on trains crossings

  • NIce video!!!!

  • That signal faceing you is cool because it has two sets of lights on one mast and their not side lights and no cantelever!!!

  • He says Amtrak 55 arrives "blah blah bullshit," yet its 79...

  • @TBoy205 yeah it says 79 but the number on the train is not the # of the train for example a plane has a number on the bottom of it and that is not the flight number. Get it

  • Zo betrokken en lief! Phantastic!

  • Dude! C'mon! Try harder next time!

  • 2:16 Nice powerup sound!!!!

  • I'd like to live in that house.

Bell sounds just like mine when I connect it to the car battery.

Showhy there is a higher set of (o)T(o) by panning around.

  • For goodness sakes, kid, get a bloody tripod and keep your finger off the zoom.

  • @abywater this is one of his early videos... so he was still learning how to get a steady shot. after all, even his old videos STILL KICK ASS! :)

  • @abywater LMAO' Bloody Hell, Bloodaa Tripod bugger! lol

  • Isn't the bell loud enough?

  • @NeoFalcon69 No

  • I like the bell

  • there's a big ass pole in the center...FYI

  • @gfoster16 You mean a big-ass pole?

    (Hyphens are your friends.)

  • loud ass horn!!!

  • cool bells

  • its ok

  • A tripod & setting the camera focus (On cars passing before the train arrives) will make a more interesting video.

BTW: Train horn volume & the amount they sound are set by the FRA (Federal Railroad Administration).

  • Ear rape much?

  • That train sounds like my wife

  • @matthe3234 sounds like my mother

  • Great bells on the signal. and that train has an awesome horn. lol.

  • the train hones are loud for a reason... if you live near one its not that bad if your on the oposite side of the tracks (or at least for me) and a skateboarder got hit where i live too. people need to be aware of where they are. ok i will give it away the train he was hit by was the tri met WES.

  • that train you video camed i was driving it nice job video taping my train should of got that eniging in the back off

  • that train you video camed i was driving it nice job video taping my train

    choochoochoochoochoochoochoochoochoochoochoo

    CHOOCHOOO-WHOOWHOOO-YEAHYEAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hate people who live by the railroad tracks and complain about horns! If you dont want to hear horns, dont buy the house! simple!

  • Awesome!

  • Much as I enjoy trains, I'm really befuddled as to why this video has so many more views than most of the others of this type.

  • Wow. That K5LA Horn on that train sounds very well tuned.

  • nice horn action !

  • Not to get off topic, but how far is this from Boston?

  • No gates?!

  • Why does the crossing have two sets of lights on one pole?

  • Too bad Americans don't embrace trains like the Europeans do.

  • I'd like to see you guys pull that stunt by standing on the tracks here and waiting till the last second before jumping off. Difference here is Amtrack runs 75 and freight runs 70.

  • why arent there any gates

  • Cool! Also, you got the GE air compressor whoop from that second loco. Nice!

  • I wouldn't live near that! Why does the train sound it's horn that many times even though it's near houses?

  • @ericerock1000 In the US, a locomotive engineer is required by federal law to blow the horn 15-20 seconds before entering a public road crossing, unless a Quiet Zone is in force at the crossing, which requires substantial money to install proper safety appliances. The horn must be blown as 2 longs, a short , and a long for each crossing. At this location , there are several crossings, and it matters not about houses nearby. That is quite normal.

  • Nice, pushing and pulling at the same time. I didn't know AMTK did that--maybe it's a Mass thing due to reverse moves to the terminal?

By the way, lay off the digital zoom, it ruins the picture. Otherwise, great catch.

  • It ws very funny ocom it has been 2009when i whsht it

  • COOL RXR SIGNAL!!!!

  • By where I used to live we have a pair of signals with lights on top of both of them. They aren't cantilevers, but are gated.

  • That would piss me off if I lived near that crossing and sound!

  • They should have no signals or warnings whatsoever at any crossings.. It would make people have to stop and look !! LOL !!

  • which train is this? vermonter?

  • Traindriver - " why is he fillimg me ? "

  • That's a really interesting sounding... P3?? I think it's an old casting P3.

  • Quick question, how do you know whaen the trains coming???

  • ugh id be deaf if i was in that neighborhood

  • I Feel Sorry for the resident's of those houses in the frame. Must really suck even if your a railfan.

  • @DaaYay I am pretty sure the railroad was there first so it is the residents fault for moving that close to a rail line.

  • @VillageIdiotPro Agreed, I'm just saying.

  • looked like #79

  • Those Amtrak locomotives are the ugliest of all time.

  • did them buses ever stop after the train was gone?

  • Wow a gateless Amtrak crossing. On the NEC (Northeast Corridor), there are no grade crossings at all

  • Bad thing abour rideing Amtrak when I ride on there the seats are hard to sleep on lol

  • Nice video...gotta love railroading videos.

  • love the bells, to bad all the good bells are getting replaced

  • I love the sound of the horn, and would totally live near a RR crossing!!

  • i like the sound of train horns and would even love living near tracks.

  • it would be cool living right by the tracks, horn and all!

  • Keep your hand off the zoom button next time.

  • 13-R Baby, 13-R ..

  • ouch, my ears hurt

  • whoever filmed this, is a poindexter magoo!

  • ear rape horn

  • so how come that gate has 4 lights?

  • I don't wanna live there. TO LOOUD ;D Good video. Greets from Germany.

  • Amtrak's great for getting around the country on the cheap!

  • wow!!! i love this place so much,,,,,,,,my history

  • what a sound horn

  • Ok. . . . . . . . . Whats your point? Your property is near a train track. Guess what, train engineers blow the horn for safety. If you find the noise offensive, MOVE YOU DUMBASS!

  • Nice video can i make one.

  • Nice video

  • That was interesting! nice footage of the AMTRAC, but too much bells and lights! That horn was big time loud!! Here in Canada they blow the horn with longer bursts when approaching crossings that are that close together. What? Sorry couldn't hear ya! Nicely shot, Thanks for sharing with us!

  • i like the horn the most

  • me to

  • i dont think they do night runs with that train cuz theyd get a lot of sahit from everyone who lived round there

  • @Thebandit102 Oh they do. They used to do it a few times a night. You get used to it.

  • wers the splosion

  • There's 4 Crossings Within A Few Hundred Feet Of Each Other, And Engineer's Must Sound Two Long Blasts, A Short Blast, And One Long Blast For Every Crossing.

  • @skyman2002 Why is it that trains in the US need to sound their horns at every crossing. Here in the Netherlands they only sound the horns when there is danger of hitting someone. The lights, bells and beams are secure enough to cross roads at speeds up to 160 km/h (100 mph). Nobody is complayning about it.

  • @bertvisscher1 it is a US federal law that unless the city or county is an approved quiet zone or if the crossing is a private road, all trains must sound their horns when approaching a grade level crossing. Since these crossings have no gates, the federal government will not allow the Town of Amherst to be a quiet zone. The law is the same in Canada and Mexico too.

  • @skyman2002 yea but cant they make them do it a little quieter?

  • @Soolinegp38 If It Where Quieter, Then Nobody Would Hear The Train Behind Them With their iPod On Full Blast. A Person Was Hit On The Tracks Here Not Long Ago, Because He Couldn't Hear The Train Coming. IDK How You Can't Hear It.

  • @skyman2002 The same scenario with the MBTA at Abington, MA.

  • @hitmanhornster @hitmanhornster that yellow house I grew up in - it was in the family until about 4-5rs ago...I lived there from age 0 to 13rs old. You get used to it, and when it changes schedule it actually wakes you up because you can't hear it.

  • @hitmanhornster hat would fuck me off to live near that like hitmanhornster said! The horns are to loud to live near! Why sound lots of horns in the first place instead of having it quiet during night and morning?

  • @ericerock1000 The Reason There Are No Quiet Zones Here Is Because #1, Nobody Is Bothered By The Horn, And #2, Four Trains A Day. Not Enough traffic On The Line To Get A Zone In They Tried For These 4 Crossings.

  • @ericerock1000 because thats when people ar ethe dumbest, they are in hurries to get to work, or home, or they're tired, and they dont see, hear, or mind the lights and bells

  • @ericerock1000 Then quit your bitching & be glad you dont live near it. Not everyone is a whiny ass puss like you.

  • @hitmanhornster yup it does !

  • @hitmanhornster like they said, numerous crossings

  • @hitmanhornster well if it would bug ya then dont live thar, i would love to live beside a crossing...

  • does he have a fetish for watching trains or something

  • yeah lets tape some fucking trains.

  • That looks like a very dangerous spot. I am wondering if anyone was ever hit by a train at that spot...I hope not.

  • @ThatOneGuyOnYT Not that I'm aware of. but a kids bike was once hit there. Someone put it there in the middle of the night. I think a car was too at one time.

  • rooooooaaaAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!! :D

  • Whats the point of this? this is retarded

  • beautiful k3la

  • How many times do you think you should ZOOM in on the friggin' lights? BTW, invest in a tripod, or email me, I'll send ya mine, I STILL have a headache.............

  • Too bad AMTRAK is never on time or so dam slow. Nice vid.

  • GOD I hated MA when Iived there. was in boston, sure was pretty out in the boonies though. Anyways, man that sucker just creeps outta the woods, doesnt it? And ya, no naps around there. Amazed how close the houses are. thats how it is out there, all tight and stuff. good vid!

  • Yah, just get yourself a cheap little tripod and you'll be good. It's rare to see mechanical bells like that. Like the train u caught, too.

  • Neat video, you should invest in a tripod. Stand back a little and set up your shot, just like a regular camera and let the action play out. You will be more satisfied with your vids and will be even more fun to show others!

  • Man...forget about takin' any naps in that neighborhood...gee whiz

  • yeah really id be up all night

  • i have a simaler crossing right by me....you get used to it after a while

  • @phantomlord54 lol that would amke a nap fan crazy lol

  • Te gek door zijn saaiheid en authenticiteit!

  • imagine thaT COMING THROUGH THE NIGHT XD

  • my son of 5 years old is a fan of your videos. ( from japan)

  • Nice crossing! (and horn!)

  • nice vid 5 star!! you need to get a tripod tho its not very shaky at all but i think it would be easier for you lol

  • i like all of your videos

  • I love that horn!

  • I know the #700's that go by my house here in upstate NY have new horns. You should see some of the crossings we have here impressive.:)

  • Thats an extremely slow amtrak

  • Crossing gates do not cost $1,500,000. Sheesh.

  • The sound is awesome.

  • How can you live so close to rail road ? You could see the house right by the Rail Road. That's crazzy !!!!! INSANE !

  • i feel sorry for the people in the houses next door

  • Me too...-.-

I don't really get why trains need to honk like that over there.

Just put 2 freaking bars to close the crossing and give ppl a little bit more time to clear it

Oh wait... that would cost money... while honking like crazy is basically free and about ppl's ears & lives.. oh well... who gives a shit...

  • It Is A National Law For All Railroads To Sound Four Horn Blasts Per Roadway. The Only Way To Not Sound Whistles Is If 4 Gates Are Installed At Each Road Crossing, Then The Roadway Would Be Closed As The Train Passes. Only Downfall Is If Trains Are Moving At 110 MPH, (177 km/h) People Are Going To Complain That It's Not Safe For Trains Passing At Such A Rate Of Speed Without Any Warning. It Is Complicated. Plus The Crossing Would Cost 1.5 Million US Dollers Each.

  • Wait a second... 1.5 million $ each for what?

    A couple of barriers? :S

  • That Is Correct. The Barriers Come With The Red Flashing Lights, Crossing Sign And Everything.

  • The average is around $250000 for the signal system itself. The $1.5 would include rebuilding a crossing which usually isn't necessary.

Of course the cost goes up and down depending on tie in electronics to other highway systems, size of the crossing, local regulations, and so forth and so on.

  • A crossing may also qualify for a whistle ban if it sees more than a certain number of trains per day (I think its 15 but I'm not sure) AND has active blockades AND has an audible bell AND trains must pass the crossing at less than 100MPH.

  • @skyman2002 or the train could be in a quiet zone then it would be illiegal TO blow their horn haha

  • @skyman2002

I'm sure it doesn't cost that much. In Britain we have barriers across the whole road with flashing lights on both sides of the road and warning buzzers at most if not all of our crossings.

  • Yes.

That would cost money. Taxpayer money.

Taxpayer money that could, in all likilihood, be better spent improving safety elsewhere.

  • Keep in mind that almost certainly the railroad was there far, far before the houses.

When the houses were built, or when the current occupants moved in, they knew the railroad was there.

  • Este cara é um genio..........

  • The locals really need to put crossing arms on those signals before somebody gets killed!

  • Yep, the city has to pay for arms, because the Feds will not pay for crossing arms unless there are at least two tracks at the grade crossing & there was only one track here. Fortunately everyone at this crossing did what they were supposed to do and STOP when the lights and bells went off.

  • The good people of Amherst are doing the right thing. There is however, that one nimrod who thinks he can beat the train, only to find out that he is about to become railroadkill. To minimize this, the city of Amherst should just pay for it. Crossing arms can't be THAT expensive. The city council and the mayor can do WITHOUT a pay raise for a little while!

  • I have a better idea. Why don't you do without a pay raise and pay for it. It's not THAT expensive. Maybe in the 25k -40kneighborhood plus on-going required inspections.

If you make out your check to the city of Amherst I am sure that one idiot whose like you save will be eternally grateful.

  • I've done without a pay raise for two years. Maybe you're in favor of overpaid politians getting a pay raise as opposed to giving a pay raise to let's say, police officers. fire fighters, EMT's and teachers...or perhaps paying for a piece of railroad equipment to could save someone's life, even if that someone is an idiot! Yes, that one idiot eternally grateful. He/She may serve a purpose in this world yet!

  • I am not in favor of paying for gates in the range of $50k in the rare, rare, rare case an idion ignores, bells, whistles and lights and runs it. I would rather my taxpayer dollar go to feed the homeless, put up dozens of newer traffic lights.

And using your own argument against you, I would rather that $50k for the gate goes to raises for, let's say, police officers, fire fighters or EMT's.

That's where I want my dollars going. You can buy the crossing gate

  • I see what you're point. But there's one little problem. That rare idiot is going to do it anyway. And the law of averages dictate that eventually, he/she will be struck by the train. And then the town will be forced to put up gates. at every single crossing. And even worse, the family of said idiot will sue the town for not putting up gates in the first place. Even if they lose the case, the town will incur the legal cost, $100's of K's on top additional gates. And guess who pays for it.

  • Putting up gates at every crossing isn't affordable for most communities. It's just that easy. Ten crossings might cost as much as a million dollars or more plus on-going maintenance.

Obviously it would be nice to elevate the tracks or install barriers at every crossing...but the funds are just not available and that is why it's not done.

Your idea is fine, but it just doesn't happen

  • I agree! Therefore we should petition that the railroads themselves should be responsible putting up the gates. I think in some municipalities, they are.

  • So...given the railroad was almost undoubtedly there first....you make them responsible for putting up signals when a community decides to cross their property?

What if you owned a business and the city came in and said "we want to build a road across your property. You have to pay for the lights so no one, including your competitors, gets hurt"

    Maybe you think that's fair. I don't.

  • Maybe the town was there first. As we know, Railroads are huge corporations that have forced little Ma & Pa stores out of business. They've even forced people of out of their homes. In the case of Amtrak which has only existed since the 70s, that's owned by the Federal Government. Whether it be a large corporation or the Feds, they have seized property with little or no compensation under the guise of "imminant domain". For them to pay for the signals isn't gonna break their break accounts.

  • Typically in North America roads crossed existing railroads...not the other way around.

Railroads forced Ma&Pa stores out of business? Railroads? You mean Walmart right?

Amtrak with rare exceptions does not actually own track so that doesn't apply here.

To pay for signals actually would break their accounts. Railroads in NA are not that profitable and could not sustain that expense. Nor should they have to.
