No that is NOT what i'm saying. What I'm saying is that the "vereve, varava" is a type of singing and it's called YODELING (singing characterized by obvious shifts in registration.)

Your friend above was trying to say that the Greek Cypriots sang the song this way so that the Turkish Cypriots wouldn't understand which is utter RUBBISH!

It was made so the authorities couldnt understand it, they did it in many cypriot songs, not so the turkish cypriot couldnt understand it (they could) but so authoritiec couldnt a tradition from the ottomon empire.
