  • Thanks for doing this video. The first half seemed more for seminarians. Yet I didn't know how important the word "That" could be. It is a good thing I live by faith because us regular people are a bit backward on our Greek grammar.

  • Good Greek grammar lesson! subjunctive clause.....

  • @AtheismTV The Bible is read by many but interpreted by only one - the Holy

Spirit. Take for instance Mark 9:48 "... to be cast into hell fire, where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." and Isaiah 66:24 "And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh." Check out the "new/old" guy: Halicephalobus mephisto. Cool huh?

  • Militant atheism makes no sense.

Okay, actually it does. The Bible makes it pretty clear that Christianity is abhorrent to those who do not believe and persecuting and mocking Christians is what will result. There's a lot of precedent for what AtheismTV is trying to do.

  • Is it an oversimplification to conclude that God predestines/chooses *everyone* and those not saved reject that privilege to be saved? It answers that Calvinist issue about predestined damnation, but since I've never heard someone explicitly come out and say something like above, I wonder if it's a shortcut to something not easily understood. You often talk about people rejecting God's Word, but it sometimes seems like that implies that the person was never chosen in the first place. I'm just l

  • @SporloMBSSB Oversimplificaiton? Perhaps. It's a mystery. Trying to get around the mystery is what gets us in trouble. The purpose of the Doctrine of Election is to preach that "you" are elect. The elect will believe it. Those who do not believe it do so of their own free (bound to sin) will.

  • How do you know heaven is even real? When something sounds too good to be true...

  • @AtheismTV Very clever. It's atheism that's far too good to be true. Wouldn't it be great to just get free license to do whatever the hell you want with your life? XD How do I know? Jesus rose from the dead and the eye witness testimony is just about the most solid evidence for anything in the ancient world. Pretty solid betting odds, not that I'm betting. Peace to you and your wit! :)

  • @Revfiskj But you are incorrect. I DON'T have a free license to do whatever a want. This is a common misconception. I'm bound by the laws of the land, unlike the child-abusing priests and pastors which seem protected by their institutions.

How do you know that there are eye witnesses and not just exaggerations made to embellish the story?

  • @AtheismTV Indeed, you are clever! Every priest and pastor does this, yes? But you are free to do whatever you can get away with. Terribly good news. Too good to be true.

Not gonna debate in a youtube thread - it tends only to evil. But there are plenty of answers to your questions. Start with your own Tony Flew, and his interview in "Did the Resurrection Happen?" by Gary Habermas. The short answer: because history has rules, and by the rules of history, the witnesses are solid.

  • @Revfiskj Not many I'm sure. According to the catholic church a mere 4% of priests, only. (According to a John Jay report) When you know the pope himself used to work on protecting them, maybe they're lying.

About Tony Flew's interview. Basically the answer is "The bible guarantees it". Which is what Harold Camping was saying too. And you know how that went.

    watch?v=j86-JRJiN4o

  • @AtheismTV Um....not exactly Flew's concession. And Camping had the same problem you do - not reading th book carefully (if at all). But hey, good luck believing what comes east to ya! If there's no God, why do you care so much? Go have some fun.

  • @Revfiskj I'm having lots of fun.

You're correct, Camping didn't read the book carefully. Otherwise he would have read Matthew 24:36: "No one knows about that day or hour..." Are we in agreement about this?

Anthony Flew's first mistake was to accept a legend as evidence. His second mistake was to accept intelligent design for which there isn't any evidence whatsoever. Otherwise the research would be conclusive.

  • @AtheismTV You are right about Matthew 24, at least. XD

  • @Revfiskj There you've done it as I expected. If you agree with Matthew 24 you also agree about Matthewe 24:34 which clearly says the end of times will be during jebus' generation. Guess what? You missed it.

The bible is crappy admit it.

  • @AtheismTV Dear Atheist: this will be my last reply. I will not play your silly games. Jesus said the temple would be destroyed in the generation of his disciples, and it happened. I appreciate your ardent desire to justify yourself. I really do. Good luck with it.

  • @Revfiskj Incorrect. He first answered this question: "what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" Matthew 24:3 and then he gave the signs, and lastly he said this would happen in THIS generation.

You, just like Harold Camping, are "not reading the book carefully (if at all)". But I'm not surprized. Each christian reads the bible any way they want. That's why there are 34,000 denominations.

  • @AtheismTV You made me break my promise! Silly atheist. Did you not read 24:3 closely? The disciples ask two questions. Jesus answer them both. Then there's the apocalyptic language about sun and moon, yadda yadda. But you don't care, do you? You just want to play your games in order to convince yourself how very clever you are, because you're hiding in the delusion which is too good to be true. Finally, if God does not exist, stopping wasting your time here and go have some fun. Sheesh.

  • Look it's Max Headroom!

  • Pr. Fisk, your question about the του in verse 5 (7:08 into the video). It is an articular infinitive construction used after the preposition. προ takes a genitive object, του ειναι. For more information check out Voelz' Greek Grammar, chapter 17, its at the bottom of page 103. In summation, the του is there so you know how to translate the "time" of the infinite.

  • @android10031986 Nicely done! What a run-around.

  • I really wish I could get languages in my head, the original text is much more clear than English.
