Its not black or white, this is why it takes up to 12 years or longer for Islamic scholars to get out a ruling from the Islamic books (Quran and Hadith).
It doesn't always take that long, but scholars are studying about stem cells now, and there is no ruling yet in Islam about it so no one knows whether it is allowed or not.
Scholars give rulings by gathering all information, it is not their own opinions.

What Muslims done to the hindus? Muslims never done anything to Hindu's in fact they invited them to Islam, and some converted and some didn't.
The Hindu's that didn't convert were not told to be slaughtered, they still were Hindu's and lived peacfully.

Islam was not spread by the sword, it was spread through peaceful invitations, many companions of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to different countries and they told them about Islam, they taught them. Many accepted Islam and many didn't.
Those that didn't accept Islam was still respected because of their beliefs.
