  • Aircraft have the right of way. Container should have been parked somewhere else further from the Taxiway. Airport facility director at this location needs to revamp logistics on parking directives and rules. Pilot should still however, have seen the hazard as runway incursions are their responsibility as well.

  • the strength of the wing plus the power of that plane flipped that utility truck like nothing

  • seems like knocking over a toy truck

  • you really had to move the camera? we let you out of apartheid and you people still can't do anything fucking right?

  • pilot error!

  • @BeantownJim or ground crew error

  • Knocked over!!!

  • low clearance

  • Container.... Funny looking container as they dont have roller doors fitted.. It looks like just a very day truck.

  • esh

  • A roll of 3M duct tape will fix it fine :D

  • next i want to see it transform into a transformer

  • Little bit of duct tape and it should be just fine.

  • wahahaha stupid epic fail xd

  • selotape anybody....

  • Comment removed

  • note that container weighs tons and the plane is taxing slowly

  • Did you survive?

  • who the &*%$ left that there?

  • 01:22 MJ is alive!

  • Comment removed

  • ZAMBIA POWER!

  • Not the pilots fault. All the other trucks parked there were clearly within the lines marked. That truck was just slightly over the line and therefore way too close, thats the reason they have lines there for the trucks to park behind.

  • not a fan of the South African goodbye.

  • Wow what a south african goodbye!!

  • "and we give you a truely south african good bye" CRASH

  • thank God that truck wasnt in the air...

  • should buff out

  • @jonahmoffatt Or use some speed tape with a quick MEL signoff by MX :-).

  • If this is a food service vehicle that carries milk, can we say this is new meaning to "Cow Tipping" LOL...

  • On the behalf of South African welcome home, don't be bothered by what just happened we hope you will fly with us again soon!!

  • as you can see, airport crew were quick to get that orange pylon out...

  • aww shit i was planing for a cuple day viset in aferica not 2 weeks (dam i hope they fix that wing soon)

  • nice video but SAA don't have -700's they only have 737-800's

  • Hit and run! LOL. I guess the pilot was thinking "Maybe if I keep going it will seem like nothing happened". HAHAHAHA what a fool! LOL

  • @jt8fan7272 There ARE linemarks that planes is supposed to taxi after... to make it easier... So THE TRUCK he tipped over was parked way to close to the taxiway.. this is not the pilots fault.. but the crazy food/catering drivers fault...

  • should have been aware of his wingtips. Bet the structures crew said "Oh goodie! Overtime!" lol.

  • I never knew that Delta airlines were against utility trucks.

  • 1:30 "Ok, who parked there truck there?"

  • The airplane was indifferent to this matter.

  • 'Whoa' is not a word you wanna hear while on a plane.

  • awww c'mon there wasn't too much damage on the wing lol

  • this wouldn't have been the pilots fault. The fault would be whoever parked that truck there.

  • 737 win, they didn't even stop immediately

  • A proud south african goodbye, lol.

  • dude that thing will gore you...

  • THE STRENGTH...... OF AN AIRPLANE WING !!!

  • FALCON PAWNCH!

  • who parked there?! (no one raises hand)

  • @damnfoolstoday *one guy looks down guiltily and moves his foot in a guilty way* well...you see...I still had 1.5 grams of crack left, and I smoked it all before I realized it was Monday.

  • one guy at miami international was driving one of those trucks and a American airlines 767 was getting pushed back do he tried to drive past but hit the plane

  • Wing tip vorticies. Damn powerful!

  • Who put that there? - Pilot

  • A few strips of duct tape and good to go!

  • INCOMING! Please stay behind that yellow line!

  • would the person with the red container truck please report to your vieacle its been kinda destroyed, hope he has insurance!

  • KARATE CHOP

  • so is that why they always tell us to keep our seat belts on until the plane has come to a complete stop?

  • i feel bad for that pilot, for his career probably ended that day

  • @USARMz why would it have ended it wasn't his fault

  • The truck was stationary so the pilot should have noticed his relative distance to it - Therefore 'following a yellow' line is no excuse for his obvious bad judgement.

  • 'ooooo' lol! who films out a plane window instead of... let's see... having a life?

  • @version150 lol hes on a plane. there isnt much to do on a plane.

  • @version150 Loser

  • That Pilot was clearly at fault. If you look at where the truck was parked he was legally parked in the Non-movement area of the airport. The plane wondered off the movement area of the taxi way or he would not have hit the truck. Look at the video and see the truck is parked inside the lines.

  • @Manongjojo At 1:44, you can see that the end of the container is over the line. Compare it to the next container at 1:12 (which was roughly the same size and wasn't clipped by the plane), which is at least half a meter inside the line.

  • That plane did, in fact, depart the airport the same day. I was on it!! Our flight departed a couple of hours late, but not too late to miss my connection in Joburg.

  • 737 = 1

    truck = 0

  • Betcha they used duct tape and kept on flying.

  • what airlines was that?

  • @youngstunnar1 , South African airlines obviously.

  • they should re think the after flight recording to "some luggage may have shifted during taxi" rather than landing !!

  • There's a reason to keep your hands inside the ride and your trucks inside the white box!

  • Nice damaged part of the Winglet.

  • LOL

  • what does the announcement say at 0:41?

    (I know its Afrikaans)

  • tot ziens ? :P

like ' see you next time'

  • oh! thanks

  • no problem ;)

  • Pilots are to follow the yellow line he was on it because if he wasent you wouldn't be able to see the outer white line from the cabin of the plane in the seat as many times as i flew i would know so who ever had that truck sitting there is the one at fault.

  • the wing flexed over it and everything... so funny

  • this is not a piolet fault they always follow the yellow track if the dont control tower inform them and force t hem to do this the truck was not properly parked it was out form white indecation line

  • not pilots fault he was probably on the yellow line like he was sposed to

  • Doink! Carelessness on both sides.

  • well some one got fired

  • Ouch... That's a nasty little ding! Would have spent quite a while in the 'shop.

  • the 737 got a nasty bruise at the end lol

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • in all fairness, the pilot should have requested spotters to check his distance. pilot error.

  • If he was on the yellow line there is no excuse for the container being there.

  • Incredible. What airport was this?!

  • All aboard the fail plane plox

  • Its always the newer planes that get damaged...

  • What idiot moved the camera?

The same idiot that says 'panic gripped on lookers and passengers''

    When clearly they stayed asleep.

  • @Hitachizaxis870 I think you (idiot) didn't understand that th eperson who made the video and the one who wrote the text are different (the text is a newspaper article). He probably moved the camera because of the sudden movement of the aircraft hitting the truck...

  • He is a real idiot! Why did he moved the camera just when the wind crashed the container? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! You should have kept on filming. Sucker!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Nandinhoization he got knocked over from the impact, any one can see that's why. You stupid fuck

  • It is a 737-800 SAA does not own -700's and ever will...

  • ho wlong was this flight. and whats the flying time from - LHR-CAPE TOWN, about, 11 hours or so.

  • This flight take 2 hours and the flying is 12 hours for Heathrow--Cape Town

  • thank you, now if you work for -s a a- do you have a new coach class section for long flights. i want to try -s a a - in fact i need to call -saa-. i may need a round the world fare.

  • No I don't work for them I'm thirteen. But the A340-200 does not have IFE only in business class. The A340-600 and -300 do have better interiors since 2008. Where do you live?

  • i live in the -usa- near boston mass.

  • Oh cool. I'm South African but live near Melbourne.

  • There's a couple million dollar 'Oops' lol

  • oh oh -better get -M A C O.

  • racist loser

  • yeah it kinda looked like they duct taped where it hit haha

  • omg that wingletis big!!

  • duh whoops

  • it wasnt the pilots fault because the trailer wasnt behind the lne and thats probley why

  • 1:09 :P

    Hahahahaha

  • of course the camera flips up when something actually happens

  • Well, the plane kind of ran into a truck.. the plane shakes... and the guy gets scared, and flinches.

  • Oooppzzzz sorry .see u later lol

  • Oops, my vault!!

  • lol now u know the wing wont fall off inflight

  • .....oops...

  • OnlyAndrews

    ahhahaha

    lol true true

    shell be right mate lol

  • uuuuuuuuu you in troubleeeeeee

  • Panic didn't grip anyone. No one was panicked.

  • all aboard the failplane!

  • ya rofl

  • It'll buff out.

  • can't fix stupid

  • lol. "we wish you a proud south afircan goodbye" crash, they hit a truck. LMAO

  • Whoa The Pilot got to be much careful

  • It probalby wasn't the pilot's fault, he would have been following the yellow line in the middle of the taxiway unless he was really high

  • @antiego1 Ahahaha, high pilot + plane x passengers = Disaster. Lol, it'd be weird to watch a plane going back and forth on the taxiway :P

  • @antiego1 Right

  • @antiego1 The pilot should alway know his wingspan,if you are at the controls is your responsibility as PIC to ensure that you can fit

  • @365ways Which I'm sure he did... he didn't hit any other vehicles along the taxi except for one. Tower would hardly get the pilot to taxi through a taxiway that was too narrow, also.

  • @antiego1 As the ATC has never cleared two aircraft to decent to the same FL and killed all of them.Do you put your hand in fire that ATC will never make errors?

  • @365ways Maybe... if it was a virtual fire.

  • @antiego1 so u come back to my words

  • kobe bryant recording

  • whoaaaa

    (In the background) shit...

  • 1:57- little bit of tape and it will be right as rain..lmao

  • Damn pilot - thats coming out of your next pay cheque $100,000 ought to do it.

  • would of been cool if it was one of those toilets, you can transport to buildings and stuff, and sum1 would of been in there :D

  • they should widen the taxi strip

  • ha gha ha ha

  • lol :we trust that you enjoyed flying with us....booom they tipped a big truck....lol

  • It's a boeing 737- 800 assfucker

  • how does the aircraft have to deal with the accident???, its achually better if its a 737-800 than other aircraft because the 737 has a small wingspan copared toa 757, 767, 747, or 777

  • is truck faut because the rear of the truck is out of the lane of parking so the aeroport maneger have to pay the damage.

  • can it still fly ok with a damaged wing tip?

  • Having a damaged wing tip wouldn't make a plane fall out of the sky. It would be able to fly, but there is absolutely no way that it would be allowed to. That plane would have been grounded until it had been repaired and had its airframe inspected. Flying an aircraft in that condition is highly illegal.

  • wow

  • someone got promoted

  • lol thats funny :-D

  • ik heb gisteren zo iets een keer in echt gezien van uit busje naar gouden wok waar 2 tegen liggers elkaar ramde

  • is true, it is not fake, lsiten to the people reaction and the sound of the impact. the trailer is not a semi truck, is a food service or something like that, wich carry the food to the planes. is a little trailer and the wing of a plane is very very heavy, easily can crash and turn to this little trailer

  • It is a 737-800 not a 737-700 South African Airlines dont have 737-700.

  • wooo wtf

  • LOL !!! He turn him around like a toy.

  • I hope you're not serious...

  • well i re checked several times again..the container has the size of a truck;do u think that a wingtip on the size of the half body of a man, could bring down,so fast, such a heavy obstacle??dont know if the zoom fools me but even the distance is strange..and why the pilot didnt stopped right after the impact??

  • Do you not realize how much weight and force is behind, and connected to "that wingtip"?

  • i would say the same, because those parts of an airliner are built to resist so many high forces, so that a rather little container like this is nothing, and I'm even not sure, if pilot recognised it, just think of the weight of the plane...

  • As an aircraft engineer who works on planes like this every day I can say that a 737 wing tip could easily tip over a truck like that.

The pilot didn't stop after hitting the truck because it is very hard to stop a 40,000kg aircraft suddenly, even if it's only taxiing. At the end you can see that it was stopped a short distance from the truck anyway.

Its that momentum, plus the strong structure within the wing, that let it tip the truck over so easily.

  • As a truck driver, I recall sitting at a terminal watching some other trucker rip off the barn doors off his trailer going under a low bridge.

What I find interesting is that the trucks in africa must be built much better than the ones in the US.

In this case, what I see pilot error judging distance, Airport managment error in assigning a spot so close as to encourage truck tipping.

By the way, have you ever gone cow tipping? It's a big thing in the redneck states.

  • umm cow tipping hasnt been fun since like late 80's bro i live in a "redneck state" and there are only about 5% percent rednecks

  • oh Zambia no wonder... No way any negros would "invent" such state of the art aircraft... let alone be responsible to operate on correctly... how could a pilot be stupid enough to know not to taxi that close to the truck!

  • The pilot has a limited field of vision. He would have not seen the proximity of the wing to the container. It is the air traffic controllers' responsibility to notify the pilots of the trucks on the taxiway, or other aircraft on the taxiway.I doubt you know how to "correctly" operate any aircraft. So I'd keep your mouth shut, because I think that pilot has more experience flying aircraft than you do. The you step over the line with you racist comment. How dare you say that, you need to grow up!

  • I knew your well spelled out "educated" reply was going to eventually get to dissing me and dripping with political correctness... well guess what, I am NOT politicalliy correct... just correct. and yes I said a racist comment you cock sucking asshole motherfucker NIGGERS are violent treacherous animals how's that. It's like that episode in Start Trek where the Klingons gave too much of their technology to an undeserving low intelegant race in trade for some crystals. NIGGER loving WIGGER

  • Heck, you can't even spell "intelligent" correctly. Stop acting like a child, and GROW THE FUCK UP!

  • You are a typical TRUE dripping from a butt fuck

  • And you are a TRUE ignorant child. You need to grow up aswell. You've been playing too much video games which driven your brain back to an "infant-like" state. For the sake of our human race; grow up!

  • There you go... the only thing you liberals can attack next is the spelling!

  • @Twifty1 Oooo boy, you must be REALLY thick, dense and stupid all rolled into one you obnoxious prick. Firstly not all South Africans are black and secondly pilots have quite a few protocols to adhere to, in which this case, I can state that this pilot obviously did........the person to blame is the person that parked the Utility truck outside its station bay and in the taxi lane

  • @redgimmelman geees..... I haven't been in THIS argument for a long time... Looks like what I said a year ago has pissed off another liberal ass radical politically correct dripping from a butt fuck which is YOU!... as my hero Michael Savage would say to you: "TAKE A WALK!!" and I say to you: "Way don't you go FUCK yourself!"
