Great choice Pete, one of my fav shooters of all time a real classi, they dont make them like this any more! Althouigh my fav version is actually the SMS version, I have the complete PC Engine version running on my Wii and I have to say it is B@stard hard for sure!  Spectruim version as I recall aint bad either! lol

Ah an old classic - nice choice Pete :) In saying that i've always been rubbish at shooters and R-Type was no exception to the rule lol

Looks good though on the old Turbografx - only current version i've got so far is on the Amiga and it still plays a mean game :)

Nice gameplay mate. You're a lot better at it than me! And you're over half way through the first Hucard! :) If i ever get time i'll do a gameplay of X Mulitply for you, it's made by Irem and is another side scrolling shooter, pretty similar to R-Type and fooking hard!

@Snestastic *fixed me cd32 now* Ok I like it on the Amiga (however r-type 2 is far better imo) , the graphics are from the looks of it better with no flickering, worth a try!

I've played the SNES version and bloody loved it! This looks top notch as well, the difficulty seems to spike after level 2 though. When you play shmups do you concentrate on dodging or where you're firing at? It's multitasking in video game form. I was frustrated for you mate!

@LeBossu77 I concentrate on dodging the most Owen, it is really hard to play shooters compared to most other games I find, as you say it's multi-tasking, trying to dodge bullets and watch where enemies are coming from and defend your ship is no easy task :)

Gotta love R-Type! Me and my brother played the Master System version to death back in the day. So deep was our obsession we made replicas of the ships out of Lego! Good times!

Wooooo R-Type almost as hard as Megaman!!!, love this game but i get far too mad at it, and the pc engine what a machine for arcade stuff. have to rate this r type video a close 2nd to lorfarius's which was so funny when he got so mad!

I always thought it was a bit faster tho, keep up the videos!
