  • what? bug poop monsters?

  • hey! i saw you doing a commentary on portal 2 with ur son it was really good!

  • @irlimaboy thanks....first time....is going to get better.. promes :O)

  • not that usable and effective in a real serious match.

i click a lot like the pros but of course im not as good as them but what i mean is, it is easy to detect because of that.

  • just do /dance, and the marine that's not dancing is the changeling.

  • Game of mafia

  • Are the changelings usually like this ingame? When I first used them, they would just automatically transform into whatever race they're nearby. The voices are changed, though. Do they normally come out like those slime things that crawl, or do they just automatically change?

  • so what is the point of a chenling?

  • Has anyone done that achievement yet? Kill 5 changelings in a melee game? Does the comp even do that? Or does it have to be a vs. human players and hope they use changelings on you?

  • LOL the overlord took a massive dump, ZOMG IT"S ALIVE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • OH COOL! wtf is this!?!?!? its like a spy in TF2!

  • Marines=Overseer poop. Thanks for the lession ;)

  • ITS A TRAP!!!!

  • Oooooh This will be great in free for all games! :D If there is 1 marine 1 zerg 1 protoss... Zerg can morph into protoss and show the way for the marines into protoss base! :D

  • DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY!

  • wtf??????

  • Now THAT'S a broken ability.

  • The changeling is absolutely useless...It can't attack and you're better off with a scout that can.

  • hahaha,,,for real, i thot this was a fake video first time i saw it, but then i suddenly found them in the BETA-game xD

  • this is ohk

  • that marine is a spy!!

  • And what about Nydus Worm...Is that still in the game, have you see it work?

  • @bambambiguelou1

    Still tere. I have beta.

  • yup... its working

  • @bambambiguelou1 i have... right after i moved my army out of the base to attack. xP

  • what the... wat is that?

  • how can they morph that quick?

  • eww the noise the overlord thing makes and the noise the changelings make when they hit the ground is disgusting

  • lol has anyone noticed the overlord almost shits out everything it can make? lol...

  • spy sappin mah base

  • SPY SAPPIN MAH BUNKER

  • THERE'S A SPY CREEPIN' AROUND HERE

  • when the overseer drops them it sounds like someone's taking a crap.

  • The only question i have about this unit is: how will this work on an online gameplay? i mean this trailer appears to be making the changeling seem like a scout unit, but on a real melee i don't see much of a significant use for them....

  • Scouting is an important aspect of SC. If you can know what's going on inside your enemy's base, it makes it THAT much more easier for you to counter them.

  • That thing that dropped the changelings... Was it a owerlord? Cause it dindt looked like those in the battle reports!

  • that unit is the overseer

  • And.... What is an overseer? Upgraded owerlord or something?

  • yep you upgrade an overlord and itz range of sight getsss biger and in all direction....zergsssss rule!!!!!!

  • The changeling has a limited lifespan, which is measured by a decreasing bar visible on the interface below the name, and it will die when the bar is zeroed.

The changeling game unit has no attack; any weapons it appears to carry are false.

  • lol the marine is a spy

    COOl

  • It will only change into a basic combat unit (so if it approaches a stalker, it will resemble a more basic zealot instead). It will also change in response to approaching a building (it will turn into a marine if it approaches a barracks, for instance). Once transformed, it cannot change back

  • i think this is only in single player because when you play multiplyer you recodnize you can`t control that unit.

  • When is the release in EU?

  • i don`t really know, i am just following the logic, look : it says in the first half of 2010, well the beta isn`t announced yet so when it will be announced it will take 3-4 months so if it starts in february it will finish in may-june so the release will follow in the month, if it is realeased in US the EU will follow shortly , 1 or 2 days after .i think :)

  • @LiangHuBBB

    beta starts february 2010

  • Is this an open beta for everyone?

  • @LiangHuBBB

    no

  • Oh,seh grad du bist auch deutsch.^^

  • @TheEMPEROR800 nah it could actually be that the player you use your changelings on can control them and they could be spies until combat

  • @Hiuaske or the changeling might not be able to fight at all and once its changed you completely lose control of it

  • Those yhings are funny. :P

I would like to know how they works.(are they controlled by you or enemy, will they attack on who and how can you kill them?)

  • You can controll them, the enemie wont attack automaticly, you have to target them with "A" (attack). By click on a marine, you will see if it is a Changeling at the portrait.

  • lol wow this is lame. Not only will this be useless in multiplayer but it also doesn't follow the zerg's image for single player campaign

  • How exactly is knowing about what your opponent doing, useless?

  • 1. It will only work on noobs in a serious game.

    2. Overseers/Overlords are already effective scouts, zerglings are also cheap and fast scouts.

    3. It doesn't fit the Zerg theme. Come on, its a blob, they could've presented it MUCH better.

  • I can understand the the above being effective scouts, however the Changeling is a free unit. You can choose to use that or your other scouts, either way, each unit has its own distinguishable purpose. Merely because you wouldn't use it in a serious battle doesn't mean other people can't come up with amazing tactics with it.

  • Comment removed

  • My biggest issue with it is just its theme and presentation, which matters more to the non-hardcore people. Its function may work on beginner-mediocre players but i doubt it seeing its way into pro leagues. I think changelings are just partly an excuse to make overseers more "worth it." since the transport/detector split off.

  • You never know, some people came up with Planetary Fortress Rush which was a pretty interesting idea.

Personally, I thought the transport/detector split off was a great idea.

  • so, do overssers have the ability to transport and overlords detect separately¿? o noooo....do you have played the beta¿?

  • Overseers can Detect but lose the ability to transport. Overlords cannot detect but can transport units and excrete creep over an area so long as they remain stationary. Yes I play beta.

  • But overlords go under 5 kilometers an hour...how are someone gonna make efficient drops on enemy base...that's fucking horrible news

  • You forget that you also have the option to upgrade Overlord/Overseer speed just like in SC1. Also, you usually try to make drops on the enemy's base secretively.

  • Ok...i though that only Overseer was able to fast moving in SC2.....Do changelings detect also?...do they have lifespam?

  • I'm not an avid Zerg player, but the Changeling has a lifespan of 2-3 minutes, and I don't think it can detect.

  • so in what way is the Overseer superior to the Overlord.....just some higher HP and that's it?

  • The Overseer is a detector and spawns the changeling. It also moves faster than the Overlord. The stats are about the same as the Overlord.

  • O sorry...me dumb.....Detect/ Changelings/ and maybe some Higher HP right?....At first i though that Overseers where the ones that excrete creep

  • Overlords are the ones that excrete creep and act as transport.

  • Since your earlier comment was removed, I'm gonna reply to it here.

Like I said before, the Changeling is a free unit. Use it or don't use it, you lose and gain very little in any way when you use it.

Also, I watch and play alot of beta, so I have seen Oversky alot doing his stuff. Personally, I'm more fond of using Lings as a scout more than Overlords/Overseers.

  • i thought you said "I can't understand". I don't have that much problem with the split off other than them creating another unit. From Sc1 i accepted how the overlord was everything. Each detector had some unique advantage. Observers were the ironic invisible detectors. Terran SV were the staple caster unit in the late game against zerg or protoss. How i see it the way they made zerg's detector "special" was the changeling. Which isn't special enough sorry.

  • Well, Changelings are rumored to be able to halt resourcinig of resource nodes temporarily. Though I have yet to try this. I rarely play as Zerg, but I could try this once I get home.

  • i have it here as well, i kinda have my doubts but i'll really have to see to that.

  • In the alpha version it had the ability, I'm not sure if it retains it in beta though.

  • @Renegadeful

It has it. I have beta.

  • Ah I see, I don't play Zerg much so I'm not too aware of the abilities and upgrades for Zerg.

  • I'm thinking that it would be best if it was made so that your opponent is able to control it, but it gives you sight and your units don't attack it (if, say, you're a-moving).

  • No it would be too easy. This was first used in dark reign 2 and you have to exploit the confusion of battle to get them into enemy base. They can be very useful.

  • I totally agree with you. That way it would be much harder to spot and it would also be very effective. I dont get why blizzard didnt do that.

  • it will probably have a special skill aside from being a chameleon. In red alert you could use the spies to shut down enemy's power, and steal their technology..and it seems that you cant attack them without a detector or some sort.

  • It won't.

  • you may fight 1v1v1 and "attack" with changelings the terrans, by transform in protoss, so the terrans thinks the protoss will be the main enemie or he revenges, so if 2 are fighting, the 3rd will be happy :D

Changeling are easy able to go into an enemies base. They wont get attacked automaticly. The human player wont be able to check everything in his base. And its "free" to produce, just needs energy.

  • these things are going to be used so many times, sense they will be used for spying

  • @motosuwa7098 actually the overseer itself it used more as a scout then the changling itself. the changling has a redish tint to it in game so it not to hard to tell the differance between it and your units which makes it easy to just attack and kill an in instant

  • That Marine is a Spy!

  • SCV is like "that Changeling is sapping mah burger dispenser" :P

  • Well, we have Ensnare, Plague and Devourer's attack - now it's time for a living blob!

  • lol, i highly doubt that'll get by good players.

  • if cheap enough, dropping those in unprotected bases (particularly expansions) and being able to change into worker units, causing them to take time from resources to get rid of them, could provide enough of a distraction to have positive net income on your end. or they could end up totally useless, its not like starcraft 2 is ever going to come out anyways.

  • ::Drooling:: Wow, they didn't show these in Battle Report..

  • sweet.......
