  • do you know if he keeps the wah on for the second part of the solo?

  • you go to fast asshole!!!

  • You dont play it right

  • @TaylerMeeks give the guy a break, there is no fully correct tab of this on the internet. He probably had to work out a few of the parts from ear like I had to.

  • I've been learning this for a year now and no matter what I fucking do I always hit a dumb note on g string when I do the fast part. My fingers were never meant to grace a guitar.

  • thank you so much... just learned my first solo!!

  • Why is everyone playing it in standard tuning? This song is in drop C and if you watch the solo in the music video its pretty obvious...

  • @syiunshi

It's not in drop C, originally it is in Eb standard tuning.

  • @Kokki66 Have you seen the music video/are you tone deaf?

  • @syiunshi

Yes, I 've seen the music video and it's still in Eb standard tuning. In the main riff Jerry picks the empty low E string and the A string on the 5th fret. But if you still don't belive me, watch that: watch?v=_CggSqpdi1s&feature=related . It's Jerry's lesson on Man In The Box. By the way, he usually use Eb standard or Drop Db tuning which is tune down half step to Eb and then 'Drop D'.

  • @Kokki66 I'm not arguing about the lesson. It is very clear that he plays it differently in that video than in the music video. Watch the opening hammer ons and pull offs of the solo in the music video. It's the 4th string 3rd fret and open. If it's not drop C its drop D flat at the very least.

  • @syiunshi

I've watched it in the beginning hammer/pull off sequence is in the 4th string you are right. But not it's not the 3rd fret. It's hammer/pull off the 2nd fret and open and he does it with his index finger. I think you will agree mee, if you do a hammer/pull off sequence on tha A string on the 5th and 7th fret and you do it again on the D string on the 2nd fret and open, the two things are equal.

  • @Kokki66

By the way E flat tuning: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb right?

Drop D flat tuning: Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb right?

So the 4th string doesn't really matter in these cases.

  • This was easier than it looked, I don't think you missed a single part, not like some of the yahoos that post a vid. and you can tell that its so incorrect. Thanks. Cudos

  • Thanks man, this will definitely help!

  • amazing guide.. thank you

  • great job

  • idk why but i have a bc rich mockingbird and when i try to bend the lower fret 1st and 2nd strings it like wont let me.

  • that's a hard solo

  • 3:00 you could have shown us that a little slower srsly

  • Hey man. Great job! I was able to learn it in about 20 min or so. My only suggestion would be to play the full solo at the end.

    Thank you very much otherwise.

  • dude you need to explain i know the song now but i watched the video 50 times trying to get where youre playing

  • @samuel2punk Technically, you can play the majority of it in the e minor pentatonic box on the 12th fret. Basically it is all the same scale. Now I'm guessin your talking about the part where it looks like he's playin in a bmin pentatonic? It's still an Eminor pent. Or aeolian mode, or B phrygian posistion. I used to get confused about that stuff. Once it clicks, you'll piece it together. If ya have any questions hit me up...

  • wow thats a cool guitar

  • you missed the hendrix chord near the last few bars of the solo

  • aren't those guitars (the one in the begining) worth like 7,000$? i saw one with that same shape same company are they really worth that much? like does it hold a tune?

you solved my problem to understand the alternate picking of the solo.

  • thanks man! been wanting to learn how to play this for a whiile.

  • great man! this is awsome..

    nice job!

  • This has always been one of my fav. solos. Cantrell also does use a wah

  • I am so terrible at guitar its not even funny. I can never figure out things for myself. I cant tell the difference between a C note and a G note by hearing them. its very frustrating. just had to get that off my chest. I suck

  • @mystro810 what you think cantrell picked up a guitar an in one day played like a pro, takes practice an patients, dont give up man

  • @mystro810 no dude. don't think like that!!!! You're right, its easy to get frustrating....take a break, come back to it fresh. Practice, practice some more. Someday you'll look back and think, "wow, ya know, i'm kinda not bad". hang it there young blood

  • great explanation i can play it now!

  • That was awesome, great explanation! I think trying to learn it will be one of my projects some time later on, thanks!

  • Start with a slide up to the 14th fret on the 3rd string and then play frets 12 and 15 on the 2nd string. Finish with a bending on the 15th fret, 2nd string.

  • could you tell me the notes at 2:58 to 3:02

  • excellent lesson, helped me figure this out quick!

  • It's an E Minor pentatonic scale very commonly used scale

  • @slundq93 technically its a E flat?

  • what scalwe is this on i cant tell

  • bom demais good
