I would clean that space very slowly and carefully if I were you, to not scare them. They walk in shit. I had budgies allo my life, so I am don´t complain to be mean. You could even wash their buttons very slowly moving them one and one in your palms, to some luke warm running water, and then put them back.

True, but colony breeding is pretty stressful depending on how things go.
