People my age laugh at me for listening to old school tracks this. They I notice the have nothing but a bunch of Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Lil B and Racks on Racks on Racks bull on their iPods. Then I feel better about myself for listening to old school tracks like this.
The Fearless Four were one of the most underated & uncredited groups in hip hop history. They were one of the groups that kept hip hop relevant when radio didn't play much rap during the daytime. Songs like "Problems of the World" and "Rockin' It" were too good to ignore for daytime radio. And DLB may be the most underated mc of all time! He was light-years ahead of virtually ALL of his contemporaries-"Any other m.c will regurgitate, 'cause they just can't swallow what I regulate...pure genius!
WOW!...that man said " make brooke shields throw her calvins out in the cold ...and wear DLB jeans till she gray and old" that was drake dope back then!!! Thanks for this one.
What is DLB saying from 1:50 to 2:00 I can never get that shit man, all I heard is Carolina, Uncle Ben and rice Im literally outa breathe by this time...lol my all time fav 1983 Harlem World
The Lyrics are "Make Felix Unger sloppy and come to dinner late, make Uncle Ben say that Carolina is great, and for all you knuckle heads for whom I must be precise...Uncle Ben's and Carolina are competative rice."
DLB had the best voice out of the crew. i use to listen to theses guys on my sony walkman riding the 2 train from 241st to new lotts av in brooklyn to see my girlfriend. they were just as good as the furious 5 and the fantastic 5. couldnt touch the cold crush bros though. lol..WORD..if any of you dont understand the meaning of old skool....this is it god dammit..i miss this shit.
THANK YOU! ALL YOU YOUNG CATS LISTEN....this was called a FREESTYLE. It doesn't mean it had to be off the top. The only time a freestyle is off the top is when you state that it is off the top.
I must admit to the world: I used to bite these rhymes outrageously. Especially Devasting Tito's verse, I impressed mad heads fronting like this was mine.
"MC laywer, or an employer..." C'mon man! They were too dope.
I sincerely apologize Tito, it was all out of love and respect. Big up!
So good to hear this song my brother and I use to love it I remember the lyrics this song was so hot! My brother taped it off of Red Alert when he was on kiss fm on Saturday nights. I believe. This song has me open wow
the koolaid man strikes again, whats it gonna take for you to understand. i'll be as high as a kite tonight as free as a bird, you can't describe me i'm too def for words. the grand reaper of rap like what did you expect, because my rhymes are on time and I come correct. cause when I get on the mike the party people have fun and when it comes to my rhymes hey quality is job one.
"yes got what it takes, not about heartbreaks - I got more juice than Tropicana makes" .......wow i'm glad to see this classic posted. I had an extra fly version of this joint... I recorded it live off a Mr Magic show on WBLS where they were in studio for an interview... and they dropped this on air - was a bit slower, and the beat was simple and sick (recall thunder sound effects or something? man I havent seen that cassette tape in over 15 years) anyone have that by some remote chance?
I think I have an very old interview with them when they was on a College radio station back in 1982. I had called up and spoke to them and I did a little rap for them. I have to find it and convert it from tape to mp3 format.
NO WAY! OH MY GOD!!!! You have this?!! Wow! I remember this. I used to love DLB's rhyme (The first rapper). Mighty Mike-C still works with a project in the city promoting old school Hip Hop. He still has skills also.
phenominal great post. Tito was my emceeing mentor, he took me to the old school. He said he loved it most when he heard his joints being played on the radio. The day I rocked the mic with him in Cincinnati will always be cherished by me. Word
